my dear k-albanian friends... if a russian or chinese veto was worthless at all, ...the US wouldn´t have abstained from bringing this into the UNSC...
so, to state that they are worthless is blather.
(Jovan, 1 August 2012 12:37)

Sure, I can make a few other if... then... hypothetical statements if you wish.

The point is that a veto cannot be exercised until there is something to veto. The US does not have anything to bring to the UNSC for a vote on this matter. But if Serbia is itching to have something brought to the UNSC for a vote, it's free to go ahead and propose it.

It was already explained: A veto is worthless as long as there's nothing to veto (i.e. as long as there's no proposal to admit Kosovo as a new UN member). Just like the US told the Palestinians not to try to become an UN member, I'm sure they told similar things to Thaci.

Peggy

Yes, but assuming that Kosovo applies for UN membership. If and until that happens Russia and China's vetoes are worthless (or, as sj prefers to say they can shove them where the sun doesn't shine) as there is nothing to veto in the first place :)

"Ahtisaari paying debt to Albanian lobby Serbian government Office for Kosovo Head Aleksandar Vulin said..."

I was in fact thinking who will fill the void of Jeremic and his boom boom statements and rhetoric on B92 now that he is going away to better pastures. It seems it will be this person, Vulin. Glad we'll have someone to replace Jeremic. It could have been Kostunica, but he does not appear very often on B92 and he is not a policy maker in Serbia (and will never be probably, hungrier wolves are better than him). Hope B92 keeps us informed on Vulin, what he said, who he met, for the next four years. "Ahtisaari was paid by Albanian Lobbyists" is an excellent start.

Funny, so much Serbian rage from Serbian politicians only to tell in the 2nd sentence that "it is not important what Athisaari says". Really funny to see that headless kindergarten stumbling around. But no guys, the reason why you run around like frighten chickens comes from a true core you know already. You know that what he says is true, though he might not represent EU, but there are many in key positions who will exactly do what he predicted. That is why you are in rage. Serbia isn't going anywhere, except for continuation of erroding currency, economy and increasing unemployment. If the Schengen countries even cancel the visa free regime because of the high number of asylum seeker (at least officially because of that reason) than Serbia has finally second round of the 1990s, with the same heads at the steering.

Mr. Ahtisaari has more political clout than the morally bankrupt bg clowns care to admit....belgrade's rope is shortening, notice how Pristina didn't even bat an eye lash?

It is time for Brussels to apply pressure.

And this is not about EU. It is about the UN. And we all know that at least at this moment China and Russia will veto an independent Kosovo.

Sounds like Maarti's statement cause tremors in Serbia. Yes, Serbia must recognize Kosovas independence to join the E.U. Little itty bitty Sloba knows this well. Nikolic and his ignorant comment regarding genocide knows this too. I feel so sad for the Serbian people, Serbia's politicians are doing more harm to their country . Very very sad. It is true, the E.U. Is not begging Serbia to join, your leaders make poor Serbian peasants believe that the E.U wants them to join. Serbia will starve without peaceful coexistence in Europe.

Another Olympic opening ceremony has come and gone and who wasn't there? The k-albos sink further and further into poverty and the western money has dried out. The road to their "independence" runs through Beograd and they refuse to negotiate. This fact will make their eventual capitulation even more psychologically crushing. I recommend that Serbia react strongly to every provocation by them; america and the eu can't afford a crisis now.

Nope, Germany, France, UK, Italy they all have the same view, and it's not about the whole EU because we know who the boss is in EU....Germany.

Dear Mr. Ahtisaari,

Your job was to come up with a mutually acceptable plan. There is no deal between the parties. So the situation remains as it is: Kosovo is a UN governed Serbian province.

That's all!

Dear Mr. Ahtisaari,

Will recognizing Osstia and Abkhazia be a required for Georgia to join EU?

And I guess there will be no trade deals with China before China recognizes Tibet?
Turkey and Kurdistan?

"The PM stressed that Ahtisaari should primarily advocate the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244, adding that the Security Council had rejected Ahtisaari's plan for Kosovo"

Ha, ha, ha... Ivica has been reading too much these forums. The Security Council has never rejected the Antisaari's plan for Kosovo. All we know is that UNSG supported the plan.

While Ivica is correct that Antisaari does not speak for the EU, it is also correct to say that Ivica does not speak for the UNSC.
