"Are you playing dump just like icj1, or are you icj1? UDI doesn't make Kosovo a state. UDI is just a declaration."
(aaayyy, 27 July 2012 18:34)

for what it's worth, it was not UDI. That is a term somebody in Serbian media or government or wherever invented. It was not Unilateral, it was coordinated with many countries, it was multilateral, including the UN itself represented by Russian-approved, Chinese-approved, Nobel Peace prize awarded, Ahtisaari, who actually suggested it. Because it was multilateral, recognitions poured in immediately, unlike say South Ossetia. Serbian government did not agree, but really, what can one expect with "over my dead body" type of politics? True, Jeremic said that, and that was much later than February 17 2008, but Kostunica at the time was acting "over my dead body and your burned embassies" so that's pretty much the same.

Can you really tell me what international law has been broken so far? Can you point to the law number, date of approval etc etc? Can you point me to some serious international court that said "yes, international law was broken by such and such event or series of events". 1244 was gutted inside out, to arrive to the conclusion that no, it was not broken. Go read all the arguments and interpretations at the ICJ. Serbia's is 300 pages or more. Kosovo's is less. Slovenia's was incredible. Great Britain's was hilarious. Have you read them, they are online for everybody to see. 30 countries participated, conclusion: nothing was broken, because there is nothing to break.

Or maybe Kumanovo agreements? Any treaties Serbia signed with any other country? It really falls on you to show that. Hopefully, the new FM of Serbia will go back to ICJ and ask "Admitting that Kosovo is a state, does Kosovo's existence as a state separated from Serbia violate international law? Otherwise, if Kosovo is not a state, does its existence as whatever it is (dear court the job of defining what it is falls on you) violate international law?". That would be a great question to ask :). ICJ is there wise guy, go and ask.

aha, now we see whom Albanians in Kosovo should really thank for Vuk's contribution towards the increasing international recognition of Kosovo...

Arn we cant at this point suggest partition.

1. Because the West will not allow it, and we are where we are largely because of the west.
2. We cant offer partition now knowing beforehand that the Serbian side by its highest law, the constitution, has to refuse it. As long as thats there in the current form it would be suicidal to offer the Serbs something their own constitution prohibits, something that by law they cannot accept.
3. Being totally realistic we are not in charge of everything. Kosova cannot make unilateral decisions that are damaging to the West. We are ok with it though, since our ambition is to emulate western societies so we will need their guidance forquite a while.

Arn, if there's one thing that characterizes the Serb nation, it's the selective memory its citizens have. It was the Serbs during the negotiations that refused everything that didn't have the word autonomy in it, even partition. They even went ahead and cooked up a constitution in the middle of negotiations making it illegal for any Serb to even entertain the idea of partition. You set the trap and fell on your own trap. Now that you can't partition Kosova but want to, as always you blame it on Albanians and outsiders. Partition was a doable deal up to the time Ahtisari submitted his document to the UN; all you needed to do is whisper the word. Partition is why Djindjic was killed. He advocated partition as a fair solution and you guys killed him. Look in your own turf sometimes before trying to blame others.

The absurdity of why Kosova should not be independent as a nation can be found with the recent developments in Montenegro. The real question the Serbian politicians need to ask themselves and more importantly to justify to the rest of the civilized world is, “how can a country such as Montenegro the size of 600,000 and claim to be of Slavic origin seek to separate themselves from their brethren and seek independence and achieve independence”? Yet, a country the size of two million plus where the population is indigenous to the area and have no lineage to Serbs are prevented from freedom of choice and basic human rights”?

The Serbian elite need to ask themselves, “why would a small country like Montenegro which supposedly shares the same ethnicity, religion, language, etc., want to break lineage and secede from a big part of themselves?” Perhaps, the reason is that they may not be what they seem to be and understand this to be a “true” fact.

Logically, and from a sociology principles, whereby societies try to keep their unique culture and entity, etc; societies resist assimilation to other groups unless forced do so.

The latter is the main reason why most Kosovars actually adopted Islam. Albanian Kosovars are actually the first Europeans to adapt to Christianity. From time to time the question arises, “why did the Albanian Kosovars convert to Islam, whereas the Greeks/Serbs did not”?

The answer is very simple to comprehend!

He's the calm and calculating type, who you have to be careful as he's thinking two moves ahead of others. You're still too blind with nationalism to see this. Its better for us Albanians though. Please keep electing Nikolic and Dacic.

"Russian FM reminds UN of its role is it the same role when Russia took over Georgian territory militarily and financed equipped separatist and kicked out the UN. "

Indeed, Russia's stand regarding Kosovo separatists would look much more credible if they wouldn't have recognized the unilaterally split-off of the territory of South Ossetia.

Jeremic should remain FM as he was the only one doing his job in the DS.

Agree. I have always stated that Jermic was in the wrong party and he should switch.

I agree, without Jeremic, Kosova would have only about 50 recognitions, but thanks to little Vuk, Kovova has nearly 100 recognitions and growing.

To - (johny, 27 July 2012 00:55) - belowe !.

I was not writing about the Serbs but the Albanians.
The Albanians are in Power and the Boll is in their Corner,
it is They who has to act because nobody else can.

One can not blame Oneselves faults on others,
if One has a demand to be recognised as free and independent,
One should give that to others when One are in Power and can.

The Albanians are behaving as Hypocrits.

I agree with Jeremic and Lavrov 100% on this. International law should be the basis for everything. Including 1244 and the ICJ opinion on the conformity of the Kosovo Ddeclaration of Independence with international law.

Are you playing dump just like icj1, or are you icj1? UDI doesn't make Kosovo a state. UDI is just a declaration.

"He pointed out he had met Lavrov officially 20 times and thanked for the support, adding that he had learned a lot professionally from Russia's foreign minister"

aha, now we see whom Albanians in Kosovo should really thank for Vuk's contribution towards the increasing international recognition of Kosovo...

are you saing that Serbia is not a state because its UDI in the 19th century did not make it a state - it was just a declaration ? I have no objection to that :)

for what it's worth, it was not UDI.
