On a positive note, Serbia I believe has a bright future and is concentrating on the right areas. Energy, Agriculture, transport and manufacturing for export are sectors I consider to be very valuable going forward. A long way to go with modernisation but there is reason to be cautiously optimistic. I think the yields in agriculture needs to be addressed, as well as modernisation and transparency of who owns the arable land.

What about Spain? You don’t believe that one either; sorry lad they were officially announced by the Spanish Government.

Well, for Spain, Wikipedia says something with 21% for June 2012, the Spainish official statistics say 24.4% (for 1st Quarter of 2012). So in this case, your numbers seem to be within the tolerance and look realistic.

Yes mate...perhaps. But in this case, to stick to reality, we have to consider that unemployment in Serbia reaches 40% since 26%, from Sj'point of view, is western satan's figure LOL
(Hans, 21 July 2012 18:50)

Probably SJ forgot for a moment that 'Kosovo is Serbia'. Including Kosovo with its official 40-50% unemployment rate (means 70% 'unbrushed' unemployment), Serbia's rate could reach 40%, indeeed :)

Yes Serbia has a very high level of unemployment up to 30% while Romania only has 7.7% eh? When was the last time you went to Romania and had a very good look around to see that 7.7% unemployment rate? Try the CIA world book they can go down to 4.5% if you like.
But hey why would the Romanians lie about their true unemployment rate? They are now in paradise called the EU.
What about Spain? You don’t believe that one either; sorry lad they were officially announced by the Spanish Government.

Now let’s look at Spain – 25% hmmmmmmm??????
Ireland – 27% hmmmmmmm????
Portugal – 26%
Slovenia – 25%
Croatia – 26%
Bulgaria – 29%
Romania – 28%
Australia – 13.5%
And my favorite, the US – 26% (their officials privately already admit that they have a real unemployment of 23%)
(sj, 21 July 2012 12:04)

I just spoke with my Malaysian friend and she told me that based on privately obtained numbers the figures are as follows:

Now let’s look at Spain – 85%
Ireland – 86%
Portugal – 86%
Slovenia – 85%
Croatia – 76%
Bulgaria – 69%
Romania – 68%
Australia – 73.5% + Peggy
And my favorite, the US – 126%
and the best is Serbia at minus 25%

For the readers who are might ask why they should believe these numbers, it is because I said so since I obtained it from reliable sources that I cannot reveal :)

What do you expect in a nation ruled by the maffia. SPS and URS were responsible for many bad privatization deals. Deals that were made to fill the pockets of the maffia bosses. Now SNS wants to clear Serbia of corruption but SPS is now even more powerful in the SNS SPS coalition, they even got the prime ministers post! Serbia needs a new revolution!

And 28% unemployment for Romania sounds much better than the 7.7% I can find on Wikipedia (for May 2012), don't you think? LOL :)

It does not take much brains to figure out that the current economic system which we have is totally and utterly failed.you only have to look at the record.

.more than 60 percent of privatized companies failed
.25 percent unemployment

Many in our government like to point out that we are heading for a "free" market economy.Unfortunatly the irony is that there is nothing free about an economy which is largely held by big corperations and corrupt officials.where big tycoons can buy a firm with the stroke of a pen while the small get loads of paperwork.

So instead of continuing with this why dont we have an economy like that in Mondragon Spain?A co-operative economy where the workers are the owners of that firm, where there is democracy in the workplace.again the results speak for themselves. To promote co-ops,small private enterprises, credit unions and B corps instead of the failed financial institutions. Some were succesfull in Yugoslavia, but largely failed due to a deficiency in educaton, and lack of strong rules and guidlines.Co operatives today are one of the few companies ,apart from defence, which are actually doing well.

In spain there is an unemployment rate of about 25 percent
In mondragon where there are many co-ops,there is an unemployment rate of about 8-9 percent

People all across Serbia should come to terms with the fact that we cant continue with either ultra right wing nationalism or neo-liberalism,and that the only way to change things is form the ground up.

I love these freedom loving democratic hugging institutions that come out and make such statements as Serbia holds "an ignominious record, beaten only by Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia" - with 28% and 31%.

By the way these are the very latest real figures without any “air brushing” by moving them to other programs and thus hiding the number of unemployed such as the US which has, and get this one, 8.2% LOL. If they had that they would be dancing on the table.
Serbia has an excuse as its economy was destroyed so what’s the excuse for the others????? Undemocratic thoughts?????

With its high unemployment, according to the Vienna institute, Serbia holds "an ignominious record, beaten only by Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia" - with 28 and 31 percent respectively.

Good that Kosovo is not considered a state, otherwise it would hold an unbeatable record in Europe of estimated 45-50% unemployment.
