Kosovo is a BIG problem which needs fixing. It is a petty Tadic didn't make it as president because he came close to normalising the situation and at least get a dialog going.
It remains to be seen if Nikolic can follow in his tracks. So far Nikolic has been quiet. His stance is changing from moment to moment, his vision not clear.
I have never been a fan of Nikolic because I could never figure out his vision and mission. He talks a lot and makes even more promises. Sometimes he hits the hammer on the nail and makes a valid point. More often than not, however, he is full of populist rhetoric and seems inadequate to deal with real life situations. In an recent TV interview he didn't even know the name of the Kosovo president, Atifete Jahjaga. I always learned to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Surely it would be more than helpful to at least know your opponent's name.
Hopefully he will surprise me and make a move that will solve this issue with Kosovo once and for all. Only then can Serbia move forward.

There is nothing wrong with trying to make peace with everyone. I don't condemn anyone for it but you only make peace with people who don't partake in extracting organs from your people. You do not shake the hand of the man who butchered your people for spare parts.

The only way this situation will be resolved is with civility and dialogue, Thaci and Tadic made a very good first step in that direction. Serbs and their diaspora need to realize that they will never get 100% of Kosovo back, there will be no invasion because we will be there for the next 100 years and by then the Serbs that have yet to be born will not care. You either act civil and go to the negotiating table and maybe get a piece of it back, or we have a stalemate for the next century or two and the Serbs get none of Kosovo back.

I think this is a good move forward and lets face it the only way if things are going to be normalised. I read some comments about having Thaci having Serbian blood on his hands. Recently the Queen (Head of UK State)shook the hand of Martin McGuinness (former head of the IRA). This was a very brave thing to do for both sides. The IRA were responsible for murdering one of the Queen's relatives in the late seventies, so the Queen must have felt very strange. Can Serbs and Albanians please get round the table and work out a way forward.
