President decorates Moscow governor, French museum director
Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić has decorated Governor of the Moscow Region Sergei Shoigu with the Order of the Serbian Flag, First Class, it was announced.
It happens sometimes that the first translation of geographic , private and other names becomes official even if a misinterpretation took place. As a result КРАСНАЯ ПЛОЩАДЬ instead of the Beautiful Square is translated now as the Red Square while the Hollandians are called the Dutch ect. ect. Same is happening to some of the private names. For instance Pan Gi Mun not to sound Polish or Czech is called Ban Kimun while Ben Laden not to sound Jewish is called Bin. But in fact in both languages “ben” means the same “son of ”.
In any case I am glad to tribute to better understanding. It’s a matter of time when Serbia and Russia will in some way revive their traditional relations and we should know more of each other. I talked to a Bulgarian last week and he started to tell me the old fairy tale that they are our best friends. He was shocked to hear the last time they had fought on our side was way back 140 years when we set them free from the Turks. Not to mention the events of the 90-th when Serbia and Russia were both half ruined we have no such stains in our relations.
There's no Governor of Moscow. Instead we have a Mayor of Moscow who's name is also Sergey but Sobyanin while Shoigu is the Governor of the Moscow Region. Those are two separate subjects of the Federation with the population of Moscow about 11-12 million and 7-8 million in the Moscow Region. Both heads are Putin's close friends. Last year Moscow city has torn away from the surrounding region a vast territory to increase Moscow lands 2,5 times mostly southward. So formally about 2 millions of folks living in the suburbs became Moscovites. The previous Governor of the oblast (MR) General Gromov had been opposing such territory changes. But after his vice-governor has stolen USD 1,5 Bln and settled in the USA Gromov had to yeld the pressure and only then retired. He has done the dirty job so that nobody could blame Shoigu of presenting the expensive Regional lands to the capitol.
