I like the progressives in charge, especially because they had the largest bloc, but a broader consensus would be helpful.
(Vladimir Gagic, 28 June 2012 17:55)

OK Vladimir, in case you missed it, Dacic will be in charge. Not the progressives. Interior ministry, where the skeletons of everybody are, and Prime Minister to give the orders. How can it get better than this?

I don't know the party affiliations very well, but it would be nice if the majority could get an ethnic minority party to join as well. I like the progressives in charge, especially because they had the largest bloc, but a broader consensus would be helpful.

So, who actually wants to start digging Serbia's new grave? My arms are a bit sore since I had to play as goalkeeper for my indoor soccer team last night, and my work with the shovel would be very "rusty".

The tail is wags the dog - what else can you say when a party/group with 44 seats leads the government, while the leader of their coalition partner with 'only' 73 seats doesn't become prime minister.

The composition of the government is very SNS-SPS-URS because the only way manage to change something in this tormented Serbia. I therefore believe Nikolic decision to entrust the mandate for the Prime Minister Dacic. If some of the view that evil will return to Ivica 90.te in Serbia, such that I only wonder if this would also mean that their mandate and DS offered to guide the new government ...?

Max I'll tell you why the people of Serbia are winning (losing in fact). It is unprecedented for the Prime Minister to have Secretary of State job ( aka Home Secretary, Minister of Internal Affairs) at the same time. We have the return of Velja Ilic who begun as something of a hero from the October revolution to Dosite to Kostunicite and now Nikolic ally. His reputation has been going downhill ever since people have seen how he works and most can't stand him. Then we have G17, who like Ilic have changed their colours over and over again and like Ilic have been accused of massive corruption. Not only have they been accused of massive corruption, but they have also been accused of this by Nikolic and Vucic, and even SPS of a few years ago. Of course now G17 are in bed with the Karic's who financially backed SNS and turned up at various SNS conventions. G17 and Karic were at each other's throats for years. There is also the question of Miskovic in the background, who has been contributing to SPS and are known to be close to G17 - why did SPS insist on G17 being in government? Are we now to expect a govt paid for by Miskovic/ Karic and other monopolists? Remember we are to understand that in this government G17 will control economy and finance - as they did previously when dubious privatisations were going on.

Finally why do want Arkan's best friend Pelevic, and a failed politician, in such a senior position as Minister of Defence?

Didn't even mention the son of Milosevic...

I just read on the Serbian side of B92 to proposed break down of who and of what the ministers will be, I have just one word, katastrofa! Serbia, you are finally getting the government you deserve. Instead of chasing these rascals out of Serbian government, and banning them for life, you allow them to represent you again, like it's the 90's again. Serbs, let's party like it's 1999.

Having Dacic leading the new government shifts all the responsibility to him. i guess that's something with which the SNS might have calculated with. Let's be frank: the next few years will be critical for Serbia and giving the respective ministries to Dacic and Dinkic will eventually diminish them.
On the other hand, although some Dinkic and Dacic remain, their new partner SNS appears to be quite different than DS. Everything they could do with the blessings of the Democrats (despite what Dinkic was stating), may not be possible with the Progressives. Thus, this government may either be very stable with a policing party (SNS), or extremelly unstable.
All it remains is to watch what just happens. Maybe we will be suprised

The government that Serbia "deserved" was the previous one. Why are people winning, it was the Democrats who relived the personalities of the nineties, and nobody else. If anyone is unsatisfied with the resurrection of the SPS, the Democrats should be blaimed for forming the government in the first place, signing the "historic" agreement of "reconciliation" and for hoping that the Socialists would remain them faithful after the recent elections.

'However, the third party giving the PM is a bit absurd'. What you mean is SNS giving the title of PM to the third party and former Milosevic loyalist Dacic is absurd. If reports are to be believed Dacic is demanding to keep his old job of Police Minister as well - making him the most powerful politician in the country by far. Then you will have G17 in charge of the economic portfolios and odious Ilic in charge of another ministry.

Yes I know that Dacic is blackmailing, but this is a very bad start for a new government and both party workers in SNS and the public are unhappy, before the government has even been put together...

I have been reading elsewhere that because of the new government constellation the nineties are returning.
First of all, Dacic, as well as the Progressives are committed to join the EU and they are affirmed by the European leaders, unlike Milosevic.
It is good for a democratic tradition to be created to change ruling parties once and a while. However, the third party giving the PM is a bit absurd. Nevertheless, one important point is that the Democrats are turning into an opposition party. This change is good for the citizens of Serbia, as well for the party itself. If they have intelligent people in their ranks, they will identify their mistakes and reevaluate their behavior.
And finally, citizens will rejoice, as after a two months long agony, they will know who is finally forming the government.
