Questioner said, "Commemoration of victims of those horrible crimes is a good thing. Even better would be if people would actually learn from history and don't commit similar hate crimes."

Even better would have been if these crimes were acknowledged and the perpertrators brought to justice instead of covered up and denied for 50 years.

Even better would have been if the families could have grieved openly allowing for true emotional healing.

Even better would have been if the Eastern Orthodox hurch and its believers had not been persecuted.

The people of the former Yugoslavia were not permitted to acknowledge their Holocaust. They did not honor their victims and keep their memories alive through stories of their lives.

You can't learn from the past when your history is buried with the innocent.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work in most cases, some Serbs even try to justify the crimes committed in ex-YU name with WW2 experiences and revenge - this is the worst abuse of the victims.

"Orthodox priests were maltreated, tortured and killed with particular cruelty. In the execution places of Jadovno 74 murdered Orthodox priests were identified ...

"... It seems the favorite way of killing for the Ustasha was with a sledge-hammer, the so-called macola. The sledge-hammer, weighting some 3 kg, was used for killing most of the victims, regardless of their age or sex, but mostly for killing women and children – if they weren’t thrown into the pits alive."

A death sentence for being born a certain way.
Memory Eternal.

RIP to the 40,000 victims of Croatian genocide and aggression.

40,000 is interesting though. That is the number of Serbs in unoccupied Kosovo.

This means KFOR (since Albanians are not physically capable of doing so) will have to conduct another Croatian Ustasa style mass execution in order to put unoccupied Kosovo under occupation.

As much as the Albanians would like to see that a reality, I don't think KFOR are prepared to do so.
