This so-called "fortress" is a symbol of Austrian occupation and its brutality against the Bosnian Serbian people. It should have been demolished in 1918.

With a very similar argument, the Taliban destroyed the Buddha statues in Afghanistan, because they are 'unislamic' and a symbol of an opposite religion in their eyes. Well, probably even Albanians justify the looting of Orthodox churches in Kosovo with similar words.

Says a lot that you agree to those methods of destruction of cultural heritage.

Always keep in mind the wise words: People who deny their past don't have a future.

"This so-called "fortress" is a symbol of Austrian occupation and its brutality against the Bosnian Serbian people. It should have been demolished in 1918."

But it seems it's the Serbs there who don't want its stones poached.

"The Austrian Embassy in Bosnia-Herzegovina has also been informed about the case, according to the website."

If this is true, I have really lost respect for Kusturica. This really shows a lack of respecting history, a man who preaches it more than any other cultural figure in the region. Even if it was in a bad shape, why not use your wealth and clout to preserve it, instead of using its stones to create something different. Kusturica, a cultural icon in many places, demonstrates a intellectually unsound decision. I fear when someone actually lacks the ability to see the poor ethics of this particular move. Sad! :(
