"President Nikolić seeks advice from patriarch"

Didn't know that Miroslav was an expert in economic and financial matters to advice Nikolic how to address Serbia's economic crisis with an unemployment rate of 20%+. I think Nikolic needs to meet with B92 forums' CE sj; I think sj will be able to provide much better advice like he has done for many posters in these forums...

Come on people, no big deal. It is a known fact, the older people get the more religious they become. Nikolic was simply told what he needs to do so that he does not go to hell after he dies. For two hours.

News Flash!!! All People in Power seek some sort of advice!!!in the west and former communist east ,they all have some sort of spiritual advisor... A Priest (President Bush , Obama and Blair ... a guru ( Boris tadic ,Slobodan Milosivic)....a Mufti (izebegivic and Gul )...a fortune teller (ronald regan and Josep tito)...and then the various business leaders...I'm amazed at how many people actually take horoscopes seriously...What's the big deal?

Peggy, please don't do the Serb victim routine. I'm very pro-Serb and at no point did my comment refer to only Serbs.Religion should not be any part of politics anywhere. That's any religion and any nation. It's unproven, devisive, manipulative and corrupt.

Andy, what is written on an American dollar bill? "In God we trust". Now go and tell it all to Obama. Tell him how religion has no place in public life.
While you are at it, why don't you also tell the Australian governments, local, state and federal that there should not be any Bibles around and no swearing on the Bible in court and definitely there should not be any breakfast which includes prayer in American public life.

So you see, speaking to a reputable religious person is not keeping religion and state apart.

Please all of you who are shouting "No religion, no religion for politicians" should consider all this and realize just how silly you sound.
As long as the leader is not issuing any suicide missions but only offering his thoughts, you don't have a leg to stand on.

I wonder did he ask patriarch should he run for president. Furthermore I wonder will he ask patriarch at what time he should go to the rest room.
Still, Serb apologists here accuse Albanians for religious fundamentalism.

New serbian president has many problems:
1. Loss of Kosovo
2. Loss of Krajina
3. Dying serbian population in Bosnia
4. Total exploitation by Moscow, Russian poodle
5. No friends anywhere in Balkan, only enemies
6. Biggest rate of abortion in world.

Only man in heaven can help. Serbian president already giving up after 2 hours in government!
(Adem, 5 June 2012 16:38)

Adem,

Good job listing Serbia's many problems. I would like to add another, the precipitous decline of the Serbian Dinar. It is expected to hit 130 vs the Eurodollar.

I think Nikolic also asked the Patriarch to tell him the winning number for the Russian Lotto.

as per usual, there seems to be a disconnect between understanding and repetition. A seperation of church and state does not imply nor require that a church cannot offer its opinion. it is also not a fundamental part of democracy as per evidence. the inventors of democracy were very religious. the meaning of the seperation is that unelected spiritual leaders cannot be vaulted into position of power arbitrarily. this is the right of passage of royalty. royals are devinely determined, yet do people comment on royals throwing thier opinions around, or being consulted?
and speaking of democracy, let us not pretend that there is equality within the system. it has become painfully evident that the largest proponents of modern democracy are not in favour of equality, nor the primary tennants of the model with which they so feveroushly promote.
we've seen that people with money and power are able to influence the elected leadership of these demopcratic nations. the populous did not elect these leaders of industry, yet the lobbyists that work for some of the west's extreme wealth are in fact breaking the model of democracy. we've seen that there are industries that are "more" equal than others, as well as countries and individuals.
its really easy to make fun of a small nation like serbia, but to do so while not addressing the issues within your own nation is spiteful, childish and completely unconstructive.
yes, there are problems everywhere, not one nation is immune

So much for the fundamental democratic principle of the separation of church and state!

Possible dialog between the two...
President: I need advise.
Patriarch: I need money cause my jewel riddled golden cross is not as big as the Pope's.
President: Done!
Patriarch: God will advise you, IN YOUR DREAMS.
President: You are so smart!

So paranoid. There is nothing wrong with taking advice from wise people no matter who they happen to be.
The government is still in charge, don't you worry your head about that.
I wonder how respected the arch bishop of canterbury is in England or is he not allowed to have an opinion.
The church is always giving their opinion. What do you think the Pope is doing?
Oh, I forgot, it is only the Serbs who are not allowed to give their religious leaders a voice.

As it seems that the patriarch is very much a friend of Tadic, we can expect that the advice was for Nikolic to take him as PM! But as Nikolic has already told everyone so many untruths I would not be surprised if he ends up abusing the advice he gets! Do we all remember the hunger strike farce?
