I was hoping that Miralem Sulejmani will finaly get some minutes in national team, but now i doubt..

Every time I've seen Sulejmani start in the line-up for Serbia, he sings the anthem!

Serbian national anthem is inherently exclusionary of anyone but Serbs who live in Serbia. Plus, it sounds like something you would sing at a funeral.

Imagine any other modern democracy that puts a national anthem that only mentions one group living them. People like to brag that Serbia is the most multi-ethnic state in the region. Its national anthem should reflect that by being more modern.

How many of you posters have a clue about football? Somebody tell me since when is it an obligation to sing the national anthem - as I've never heard of such a ridiculous thing. Examples please.

Next all athletes will be forced to sign the national anthem at the Olympic games, if they don't, perhaps all those athletes should be expelled from the Olypmics. Who cares we end up watching a bunch of no-hopers, as long as they can sing the anthem...

Is he even that good? Serbia doesn't seem to do well with him on the team. Plus, after the Italian coach sent him off, his team rallied to win.
And his actions create disharmony for a team unit - maybe he could have sang everything but only mouthed a few words or a line that he didn't agree with - and I don't think anyone would really know. He must have made a deliberate show of not singer or said something because the singing could have been faked if he wanted anyhow.

let him play for Al Qaeda or Bin ladens 11.
perhaps Taci the snake can be the coach and teach him how to behave.
this guy for me should not return to play for a country that he is ashamed of singing the national anthem.
we have players from former french colonies singing the national anthem with no problem!

We need to step back for a moment... Adem is a young man that needs some time to think things through. I respectfully believe this silly situation will be resolved, Adem will sing his heart out, and team Serbija will benefit upon his return.

Bravo Mihajlovic for sending home a player who has shown his true colours to be anything except those of his nation. Regardless of ethnicity, religion, or personal objections, if one agrees to represent ones nation, you sing the anthem, and you sing it with pride! Serbia is a Christian nation which proudly bears the emblem of its faith on its football strip, and the desires of a minority to show dis-respect to that symbolism has no place in ANY area of international competition.

unlike our southern province, he is free to leave... =)

if you don´t wanna sing, that´s fine, you just won´t play then. it´s that simple!

Only players who will give 110% on the field for Serbia should be on the team. Players who are only there to promote themselves and are playing for money and nothing else are not welcome. This rule should have been implemented long ago by other coaches, it would assure that only patriotic players who will leave everything on the pitch will wear the colours.
If Ljajic is so offneded by the Serbian national anthem that he bows his head instead of singing, well then let him play for Turkey or Bosnia. Mihajlovic is 100% correct in sending him home.
Cheers!!

This is a no brainer..never let this guy come back. Why be so forgiving? What a shame he wont openly represent the country he plays for. " I wont sing the anthem, but i'll wear the jersey?" What a moron. Its great they sent him home..of course dad is trying to fix this. bottom line, this kids a trouble maker. Move on.. and lets worry about our team getting better, not kids stirring up problems because of their own personal reasons. Let him go play for Turkey or Bosnia.. who gives a damn.

He sounds like a punk, self-absorbed in his football stardom. If one has a problem singing the anthem of the team he plays for, come out and say why, and not wait for your dad to make ludicrous statements. I applaud the politician, Ljajlic, but this young footballer needs to grow up a bit, and take responsibility for his actions. Everyone is constantly shouting that we must keep and sports separate, but players themselves should take some responsibility for that too.
