This is the pinnacle of bizarre....electing a gravedigger to presidency.
(Wesley Clark, 29 May 2012 20:17)

To be honest I don't find it bizarre at all. People in Serbia are sick and tired, and angry as hell at the west's treatment of them. Instead of being allowed to bring themselves out of the rubble of wars, they are madly disrespected. Every side killed in the last war, but only Serbs committed genocide. Ireland isn't allowed to break away from the UK, but Kosovo is, that's fine! Laws somehow seem to bend and morph when it comes to us, and noone blinks an eye.
Serbs are nothing if they are not stubborn, trust me. They're pissed off, and in retaliation what could piss the west off more than electing a leader with a less than pro-American past. You have to understand our mentality to realise that this is such a Serb thing to do. As usual, it's not a smart move, but I think we've all come to terms that we will always be known as the world's worst politicians, because pride and emotion comes before rational thought.

You certainly has no knowledge of that the economic strength of only three Asian countries combined, China, Japan and South Korea has surpassed the whole EU.

And, you act like you are on top of the world? Or superior to someone?

Now I understand why Kosovo (and Albania) is like it is: There's lack of Scandinavian influence to bring civilization, instead the Turkish-Muslim culture set the moral standards :)

You are so far from reality. Where did you get this information from B92 posters? You don’t need see haplogrammes that exists only in your desires to portrait Albanian as Asian, you in two day visit in Albania, can understand that Albanian are a original race that take place in West Europe Nations.
P.S. I don’t have any problem with Asians or African people I don’t want to be part of your racist debate here, I just want people to be accurate for what they say. If what you say is not a lie that is racist towards Albanians and is racist also towards Asians people, tell me which is your source?
If we want to group people here, we can group backward people and civilized people. Find by yourself which group you are.

you are absolutely right!!

had not been the influence of Vikings (that mainly was in Ukraine and bordering regions with Scandinavia the Russian culture would be 100% Asian.

But again thanks to the Scandinavian influence they have been saved and civilized. The average Russian east from Moscow or in Moscow itself is totally Asian in culture, moral standards.

The fears of black people visiting the Euro 2012 is just a proof of what a large chunk of that Asian world has not been civilized yet.

But again as you say from all Asians they are my preferred as well, thanks to the Scandinavians.

LOL!! You mean your perspective of ignorance? Russia spans both Europe and Asia.
(Zoran, 29 May 2012 18:49)

Ignorance implies lack of knowledge which is not my case. We both can agree that Russia spans primarily in Asia with a small part also overlapping in Europe --- hence why most geographers will label it in Eurasia. What you aren't aware of my ignorant friend is that a significant portion of Russians openly state that Russia is its' own continent --- hence why I joke that it's part of Asia and get these nationalist, pro-Putin, anti-America, as*holes all upset.

Slobo was also a "democrat and nationalist." roberto frisco
(roberto, 29 May 2012 18:07)

Slobodan Milosevic never said he was a nationalist, the "Western Media" put that characterization on him as well as other misinformation. Slobodan Milosevic was a true Socialist who actually introduced the first democratic reforms and free business intiatives in the former Yugoslavia and was embraced by Western Leaders including George Bush in the late eighties.

Tomimslav Nikolich will have to surround himself with a good cabinet if he is to make any impact on the Serbian political scene. However, he has done an admirable job in reversing many of his more hardline stances to get himself into power. Let's see what he can do to improve the Serbia which continues to get more impoverished as Germany and other countries continue to take advantage of cheap imports from Serbia as well as favourable labour rates and investment in the Country.

While I have no doubt what we wouldn't enjoy each other's company, the chances of us cross paths in life are pretty small, so no worries for either of us. It does take a certain kind of person to travel around the world to a strange place and make something for himself. So, you'll understand, I have a certain confidence.

Most of Russia's area is in Asia, but most of Russia's people are in Europe. The big cities, St. Petersburg and Moscow are and have always been in Europe. In my opinion the Urals are the boundary in the East, in the South, Georgia is Europe but Turkey is Asia except the Turkish part of Thrace. By my definition West Kazakhstan is also in Europe.

On a side note, why doesnt Nikolic keep his trap shut until coalition is formed?

As far as I know you have almost the same haplogrammes as the Azerbaijan people coz you are close brothers. So I’ll tell you a real story. A good friend of mine called Arif is of Azerbaijan origin and he has a big restaurant and a big night club in Moscow. On Thursdays only niggers are allowed to his night club. The thing is that they have little problems here at daytime while it is different if they drop to a discothèque or a night club. So when asked he told me that the Africans make him good money and they behave themselves and what is most important he said “on Thursdays nobody calls me a black assssss” and once a week he said “I feel myself a white man”. Now my Alb. Superman if you’ve missed the idea I’ll help you by summarizing that here in Russia your brothers feel themselves Europeans only when compared with the Africans. Sure our Serb democratic nationalist chetnik friend Even before his inauguration as Serbia's new president on May 31, Tomislav Nikolic has already offended the government in neighboring Croatia and raised a few red flags in Georgia.

In an interview with German journalist Michael Martens in the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung," Nikolic said that a "greater Serbia" is his "unrealized dream" and called the eastern Croatian city of Vukovar a "Serbian town" and said Croats have no reason to go back there. As if that all weren't enough, Nikolic ruffled feathers in Georgia with his comments to Voice of Russia on May 26 that raised that possibility that Belgrade might join Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and a couple of Pacific island countries in recognizing the independence of Georgia's two breakaway regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Nikolic dismissed any similarities between Kosovo and the two breakaway states, saying "Kosovo should be under the control of Belgrade, while the two separatist states deserve independence."

Nikolic's comments came during a visit to Moscow, during which President Vladimir Putin promised to release $800 million in loans to Serbia for infrastructure projects. Serbs sure know how to pick winners not and Kremlin puppets.

(Danilo, 29 May 2012)

Sure, it would be my pleasure to share my knowledge and educate you.

The reason Serbia is an attractive destination for the Russian market is because what companies would have to pay in Russia is far more than what they would have to pay in Serbia. Because of Russia's very generous free trade agreement with Serbia that no other country in the region enjoys, exports can come from our country into Russia for a significantly smaller fee than anywhere else.

The reason it makes more sense for Western businesses to invest in Serbia to tap into the Russian market instead of investing in Russia directly is because it would cost those companies far less to operate out of Serbia than Russia. You see life is more expensive in Russia than in Serbia. Moscow for example is one of the if not the most expensive city in Europe. This means companies are charged a lot in operating costs alone, but also take into account that Russian workers require a higher wage than in Serbia to afford a living. So with that said, it would make much more sense for Western companies to take advantage of that FTA in a country like Serbia rather than investing directly out of Russia. This is not some conspiracy, Western companies have openly made it clear that is why they are investing in Serbia.

To be honest I don't find it bizarre at all. People in Serbia are sick and tired, and angry as hell at the west's treatment of them.

Me and you both owe a lot to Russia.

I agree. We gotta completely forget about EU membership. If businesses from the West would like to invest in Serbia that's fine. Oh for a political party in Serbia that had a concrete strategy about how to improve economic growth and to properly crackdown on corruption.

Instead we get the same old nonsense about EU and Russia. One part of Serbia pulls one way, another pulls the other. And the fact is that economic growth, employment and the reduction of regional problems is on our doorstep. Folks, the fact is that most of our business is done with our neighbours and this will continue in the medium term. Lets focus primarily on expanding and re-establishing business in these countries.

Politically expedient? Not really. Pro EU parties think its unsexy for voters to hear this story of a 'return to the Balkans' and lack of 'advanced markets' EU talk. Anti EU parties maybe not so hostile, but their voters are. Some still want to punish Croatia and Bosnia for recent conflict (return of refugees etc).

No we don't need a return to Jugoslavija, but these markets (plus other neighbours) are where our potential lies.
