Guards accused of abusing Macedonia murder suspects
Three Bitolj prison guards will be suspended on suspicion that they physically abused suspects for the murder of five Macedonians near Skopje in April.
Cowards, be real men and take the beatings, but we all know real men dont go around killing innocent children, glad to see these cowards are in Bitola, its nice and comfy, I'm sure there families will agree on there weekend trips to the wonderful Macedonian city of Bitola, justice will be served accordingly until these thugs do themselves in.
I don't know if anyone in this site is aware that these people have not been tried and convicted of any crime. There are only allegations that they were involved but that is it. In a democracy you are innocent until proven guilty. What if it was discovered that these people didn't do it? Do they still deserve to be subjugated to beatings? What if they were being tortured to extract from them confessions of a crime they didn't commit?
After 3 weeks of investigation there has been no evidence produced to the courts or the defense lawyer. It is a clear indication that the prosecution is in difficulties.
Of course a lot of people here would like nothing more than justice. But justice is given under a legal framework, not by some prison guard with elementary schooling! If a person is judged without trial, if we base the guilt on how he looks, his ethnicity or religion, then that is not justice but mindless racism. In such undemocratic societies it is the minorities that are the first to suffer and then the rest of the population. The danger for a slippery-slope towards dictatorship is real.
Think of yourselves being accused wrongfully about something. Would you not want your day in court?

The Serbs were talking about civilians or regular soldiers and policemen who didn't cold-bloodedly murder people, as these men did. It wouldn't make me feel better, it would put me down to the same low level as these alleged killers who think they can decide about life and death of people. I'm against death penalty, and if a state has such a law, then still judges have to decide and there cannot be self-administered justice by some prison guards, sorry.

Murders, and they deserve the beatings and to be killed themself. Anyone who think otherwise must be stupid. However, after those killings i see the hand of some superpowers, who dont want macedonia to be stable. Suddently, i can see a hand creating troubles in balkans, in my guess, things are going to change soon. I know very well the history of macedonia and yes, once it was a big and proud tribe with this name, but if doesnt exist from IV before christ and alexander was not macedonian. Today macedonias are a mix of southern slavs from bulgaria, serbia with albanians, turks, roma and gorani people. I dont believe in a nation called macedonia and after this experiment failed, those killings are pushing towards one goal. Macedonia will not exist any more. As Bosnia too. I donts see a point of two serbian states in balkans and two albanians states as well. Republika Srbska and Kosovo not are black spots who can produce only mafia and tensions. Soo, half of macedonia to bulgaria and serbia. R. Sebska with their motherland. Personaly, i dont want the other half of macedonia and kosovo, but i think this is what is happening. As always, we, in balkans, can only look and guess what is going to happen. Shame

Wise words, I hope they give some food for thought to some of the people who posted comments defending or showing sympathy for criminal behavior of prison guards or policemen against arrested persons.
if these gentlemen (and i use that term loosly) are concidered terrorists the precident set by the usa suggests that macediona is fully within their rights to torture them.
solution to this mess is to declare these fools as such. their acts brought terror to the people, so it isn't too hard to classify them as such.
