The dinar has been falling for several months, so it doesn't have to do anything with the elections or change of power. I wonder what are the real forces behind it because several months ago things weren't worse than the year or two before, but it's as something is steadily pushing it down since then.
(ida, 25 May 2012 00:51) It is currency speculators they sell the Serbian dinar short. They are like wolves when they find a struggling victim thy are merciless. When Serbia throws more good money to prop the dinar it is extra bonus for the wolves. Vicious cycle Serbia is on until the wolves find other plumper victims to move on too welcome to the new world.

Greece does not look good, that makes investors panic and as usual they withdraw from the "Euro-satellite" currencies even more. Summer vacation time may bring some relief but the slow slide downwards will continue.

Serbia does not benefit from insane economic experiments and pretty... unpopular pesonality of György Matolcsy, the finance/economy minister of Orbán: investors are long in panic mood here, that spills over to you.

This stroy is the real heartache of serbia, yet no one makes a single comment. I guess Nikolic and Dacic will make your credit payments better, as the dinar dives. Wake up, people.

you took the words out of my mouth, the issue is that most Serbs in this forum English version live in EU/Australia/US/Canada so for them its great more cash when they visit this summer.

Watching Serbian TV in satelit dish does not show real story of Serbia and they do not understand how tough its for most of population especially outside Beograd and Novi Sad.
