I hope that what you wish for others comes back to visit you and those you love.

Toleration may be one thing but so called 'Gay Pride' celebrations are pushing the public's tolerance too far. Such parades elsewhere are shameless, immoral and obscene.
As for the all too ready, and extremely shallow, accusation of 'homophobia' this is nothing less than a reductionist social construct flung at critics. Rather as the Nazis and Communists did/do. A way of diminishing anything except the 'party line'.

Nice.
These are the real Serbian heroes.

Is that how they do it in Zagreb?

Danilo is a Croat? ha! So typical that a Croat envies us Serbs.

Now I am unsure. Given the right budget (ca. $1000) I can do an 8-day slow drive across Hungary and the entire ex-Yugoslavia, celebrating my straightness. Many places to mention - starting with Szt. Jupát, continuing with Arany Korona, than of course Sindelic, than the all-you-can-eat Asian in Casino Belgrade, than Te Qershijat in Podujevo than Pizzeria Giri near Suva Reka. At the end after devastating most of Makedonija I would arrive Korça and look fat like a beach ball before entering the restaurant of Vila Themistokli - and $1000 less but 8 days full of calories.
And why in October, the weather is not that good. And why not just devastate Sindelic, that is simple. Or why not focus on Casino Belgrade only. That is cheap and because of the all-you-can-eat scheme deadly efficient way to celebrate. Now there are million Vietnamese places in South Bay Area, Vung Tau is the best place in the entire California. And so many all-you-can-eat Korean places... ever tried pulgogi?
Is it now illegal doing all that? :-/

Serbia with its own unexpected tourist niche interesting who said Serbia is not a hot happening place.
(Lenard, 22 May 2012 18:01)
Lenard,
Do not celebrate your straightness that much with the rakija - this is illegal now. Rather be politically correct and take part of the parade. Or move to Hungary because our Great Leader Orbán Vica just solved the problem, he said there are no gays in Hungary - no parade allowed here, period.

True, in this aspect, the Serbian society is closer to the one of Iran, Saudi Arabia and similar Muslim countries than to (western/middle) European ones.
(Comm. Parrisson, 22 May 2012 18:42)
O.o I never said Serbian society was intolerant...
Basically what I said that the Serbs are very..."old school" and rather conservative.
They aren't really ready for such a shift in their lives yet.
pre 11 godina
Serbia desperately needs peace and these people can contribute a lot to achieving this objective.
pre 11 godina
Serbs do not have problems with homosexuals, they only have a problem with the parade. Mozemo Zajedno? Ajdemo zajedno bez parada!!
pre 11 godina
Did Obraz, 1389 or any other fascist Serbian group announce that they will hijack buses and use them as suicide bombs against public places, federal buildings and embassies? Did Dacic found those who were promising this last year or was Ivica stuck in his pathfinder missions between Kosovo and Serbia?

He also specified that the festival would last from September 30 until October 7. Festival in Belgrade Serbia it will become the queer happening place as 10's of thousands flock to the Serbian inspired celebrations from all over Europe. As it grows in notoriety they will be flocking from all over the world. Serbia with its own unexpected tourist niche interesting who said Serbia is not a hot happening place.

They are free to participate in Toronto's Gay Parade, however. Come on over.

So last year was cancelled because of security concerns and now they want an 8 day festival?
Lots of luck guys :)

The gay community could learn from international jewry who have learned to adapt in hostile environments by keeping a low profile and not ruffling too many feathers. The gay community is often its own worse enemy. In this case they are working hard to antagonize a largely patriarchal, traditional, religious and conservative society. They will try to assign blame once violence erupts. They have nothing to gain from these events and everything to lose.
pre 11 godina
Will President Nikolic be there waving his rainbow flag?
pre 11 godina
Hahaha, Best of luck with that. I reckon it has 2 chances....
Slim and none.
pre 11 godina
Right, so the gay community thinks that the opinion of Serbian people over homosexauls flaunting their sexuality in a perverted manner has somehow changed in under a year, how stupid they are and selfish to think that they must have the right, not just to have 1 but 8 days of this madness! Why can't they keep their celebrations under their own roofs? Oh well I doubt it will go ahead, just the big talk like last time.
Oh Danilo you continue to amuse me!
pre 11 godina
Wow, that was fast.
Yet another shame parade organized by Soros, Madame Warlick & hundreds of foreign professional provocateurs to put the new government to test. Will they take the bait or stay adamant like the Russians?
