Oh the RUSSIAN VETO, that animal that scares little kids at night and looms in dark to keep people thinking "when will it appear again"
(How do you react to such?, 19 May 2012 23:15)

The Russian veto seems to have touched a nerve with you. I wonder why? Where is Kosovo's UN seat?? Oh right, I forgot, they don't have one, and will never have one, because of...you guessed it...the Russian veto!! Belittle it all you want, but that veto guarantees that Kosovo is Serbia. I know it's tough for you to accept, but be a man and deal with it. It's never going to change. Your fair weather friends like the US of A will turn their backs on you, give it time, but Russia will never turn their back on Serbia - that's the difference.
Cheers!!

"Well, in order for Russia to use the veto, somebody has to present something for a vote in the UNSC; until then the veto is useless because there is nothing in the first place to use the veto on."

Exactly. And this could be, for example, Kosovo applying for becoming an UN member. But I think the US ambassador in Pristina was smart enough to tell the Kosovo government that they better shouldn't try it, because the eventual rejection would do more harm and show the world that Kosovo has not the same status as normal states. Palestine, for example, applied for the UN membership and the USA announced they will veto in the UNSC.

Dragan you also have a country called USA, GB, France who will veto an return of Kosovo under Serbia Deal with it .
(Bilbao, 19 May 2012 21:18)

There is nothing to veto, Kosovo already is part of Serbia per international law and per UN Resolution 1244 which the NATO war criminals signed. All Serbia needs to do is wait it out, the west is going bankrupt if you haven't noticed, and Russia is getting richer and stronger every day.

What puzzles me is why Serbs come here to argue about Kosovo in English (the jokes at the Serbian page are better, if nothing else). It would make more sense for B92 to translate the comments published on the Serbian page, if they have any interest in increasing sympathy for the official position on Kosovo, or on anything else. If people outside the Balkans actually read these comments it could explain why Kosovo continues to accumulate recognitions.

How do you react to such?

If you have some dream of stealing Serbian land and being a real 'country', there is this thing called the Russian veto that guarantees that it will never happen. Deal with reality.

Oh the RUSSIAN VETO, that animal that scares little kids at night and looms in dark to keep people thinking "when will it appear again"
It was instrumental in keeping the NATO bombs out of Serbia, it was there to keep the UNSC from forcing Serbian military and police out of Kosovo. It was there to prevent the disconnection of electricity from Serbians who refused to pay their electric bills, and it prohibited the removal of illegal Serbian phone towers. They were able to keep EULEX out of Kosovo(remember Serbia was against the transition and said it will never happen) The big bad Russian veto has kept Kosovo from joining the IMF and WB, it has been there to prevent 90 governments from recognizing the independence of Kosovo. It prevented Konuzin from having to stand at the gates of Kosovo for 3 days until he agreed to a Eulex escort into Kosovo.
Keep on hoping that veto is going to be there in the end to determine the future of Kosovo, it has done so much so far.
Of course to many here the EU and US are just going to disappear as if they never existed and China and Russia are going to co-rule the world so there will not be a UN in the future since neither country is open to anyone telling them how to rule.

Well, in order for Russia to use the veto, somebody has to present something for a vote in the UNSC; until then the veto is useless because there is nothing in the first place to use the veto on.

When something was indeed presented to the UNSC in 1999 for a vote about the de facto dismemberment of a sovereign European State, Russia did nothing despite Serbia's pleas and the de facto dismemberment of a sovereign European State was approved.

But Serbia is free to go ahead and introduce a new Resolution for a vote in the UNSC to reverse the de facto dismemberment of a sovereign European State. Hopefully Russia does not veto it :)

Very simple answer Agim, some countries recognize the fake, illegal, and immoral 'state' of Kosovo. However, this is temporary. Those embassies will not be there forever, just like that statue of that fine upstanding guy who gropes interns and messes up their jackets, you know, Slick Willy, Clintonliar...whatever you guys call him...it's the first thing that's going to come down once liberty is restored. And it will be restored as soon as your protectors are gone.

Sorry, tommy but you are misinformed in many ways. The UN (with much insistance from SERBIA) is officially status neutral. Which means that they do not say(as an organization)that Kosovo is independent NOR do they call it a province of Serbia.
Plus this is the 2nd round of elections so Serbia has not voted yet and Kosovo will vote on Sunday as with the rest of Europe or with Serbia which ever way makes your heart go pitter patter.
