FYI Hiz - I've been to Serbia a number of times, and while it's true that there are beautiful things to see and many good people, there's nothing there that I haven't found in many other places, so on balance, it just isn't worth it. I'd rather spend my tourism dollars in a place that's a bit more progressive, like Sweden, Finland, Canada, Australia, Holland...

Here's a video of over 1000 people, in one part of Belgrade, shouting "kill the fags" as they rampage their own city.

Are you suggesting that this is merely a protest "against the ruling regime" and has nothing at all to do with homophobia?

You're suggesting that these are just nice people frustrated by their government?

Mihai- I am not sure that the LGBT community are trying to "impose their beliefs" on you or anyone else, they simply wish to be treated as equals. Imposition of beliefs was what went on during the Spanish Inquisition when those who didn't believe what they ought to were tortured and burned to death. I would very surprised if anyone tries to force you to become gay and tortures you if you refuse! As for the line that there is no discrimination in Serbia because it is just the way you are is very sad. I know many Serbs who simply get on with their lives and take a 'live and let live' attitude to other peoples' beliefs and behaviour, assuming that it is not criminal. Personally I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and I am secure enough in my beliefs and my religion that I do not let the views of others upset or worry me. Calling an apple an orange doesn't make it an apple!

As if this is a priority for Serbia right now, Serbia needs to be focusing on the economy and raising employment levels, the LGBT community isn't even on the list of priorities. The LGBT is so selfish in what they do, they wish to change the mentality of Serbian society when that very society doesn't want to, and has far more important things on the agenda. Serbia will never accept things like gay marriage, adoption or civil partnerships as they have in the UK, and nor should it ever. There are plenty of places gays can go and live in western Europe if they want to live in a gay paradise, but Serbia will never be that gay paradise they want.

This "NGO"s are just propaganda mashines and they do not understand the orthodox way of life in the East. They don't understand that there's no discrimination, that it's just our way of life. We don't want to harm them, we just to be left alone. But they don't want that: they want to parade the streets, to impose their beliefs upon us. What democracy is that?

You're clueless buddy.. This organization is nothing but a fraud.. They dont fight rights for anyone.. They're there to protect the corrupt ruling class so when they protest against the goverment, the ruling elites can say that they were protesting againse lesbians when they are campainging together.

That's what happened in 2010. The politicians and their foreign masters came out with "pro-gay supporters" on the streets. The people came out to protests against goverment officials but in the media they span it as an "anti-gay' protest.. You should think before posting.

Serbia is definitely the bottom of the barrel when it comes to this.

There's probably only a handful of African and Islamic countries that are worse than Serbia in this regard.

Another troubling and all-too-frequent reminder that discrimination is alive and well in Serbia. This really puts the country in a very bad light and undermines its credibility in its claims to be a free, fair and developed society. Unfortunately, this kind of bigotry exists everywhere, but at least there are governments elsewhere truly willing to protect the rights of the LGBT to hold annual parades and so on.
