did you even read my comment?

The answer to your question as to why joining the EU is good for Serbia is because this process will fix most of what needs fixing in Serbia.

That you don't understand what needs fixing in Serbia isn't my problem or concern, but it is a bit of a source of amusement.
(Danilo, 15 May 2012 12:48)

Ok. When the EU is incapable of fixing its own problems then please explain how will the EU fix Serbia’s problem?

I really am serious about hearing about the solutions to Serbia’s problems.

It is part of my work to know how countries stand financially. The people I work for don’t lend millions without knowing who they are dealing with so I don’t have to live in Serbia, Germany or Iceland.
Look at the countries around Serbia which are purported to be part of the EU. They have become the dumping ground of heavily subsided goods from big corporations sending even local farmers to the wall. Do you for a moment think that a French company is treated the same way as a local in Poland? If you do then you have been told a lie.
The problem with people like you is that you think that all the glitters is gold and its only when Serbia joins the family will it see the righteous way forward. If that is the case tell me how many Afghan or Middle Eastern refugees have decide to stay in Poland or any of the other eastern EU members. If none then you have your answer. How long has Poland been in the EU? Twenty years and it still has to send its people outside to look for work. This is not by accident but by design to keep on hand cheap labour and move industry out once it becomes too expensive and in that way you keep wages down and keep the status quo.
That is what is happening.

Serbia is so messed up in so many ways systemically, that it isn't possible for it to fix itself. It truly isn't. Personally, I wish this weren't the case, but it is.

The process of joining the EU is the best blueprint that Serbia is going to get for modernizing its society.

What kind of world do you live in?

(Danilo, 14 May 2012 15:15)

First of all once Serbia joins the EU, it and others within that union will be asked to contribute to a fund to repay debt. I did not say that Serbia will pay off EU debt. My point was to say that instead of receiving billions it will be asked to give something it can ill afford as it economy is in a very poor shape.

As for the other ecomies in the region being better, that maybe right in the Twilight Zones show but not on planet earth in 2012.

Don’t you people think? Are you brainwashed to believe all the crap they tell you about Croatia, Slovenia or Montengro? If it was that good the refugees from the Middle East would not go any further but stay in those countries.

I very strongly suggest you talk to the people living there and ask them how well off they are and not Google the CIA factbook and see the miracle of freedom and democracy. There is a lot of crap on the Internet that people swallow hook line and sinker. If you look at the US economy on the CIA website it has a 15 trillion economy; mind you it was 14 trillion prior to the GFC but it has done a miracle and risen by a trillion dollars – now its real unemployment levels of anywhere between 22 and 25% with some US economists claiming its higher. But low and behold freedom and democracy has pulled a rabbit out of a hat and the US has done something no one else has in the history of humanity – please give me a break; if there was any more BS I’d be able to package it and sell as fertilizer.

For the thousandth time I ask what does Slovenia or Croatia produce????? What are they making a living from? The only major industry is tourism.

If that is the case then they need to share this miracle with the US and others so they can do the same because in other western countries tourism is only one part of a successful and healthy economy. Anyway tourism only last 3 to 4 months of the year. What do they do for the rest of the time?

SJ... Serbia is in no position to pay off EUs debt even if Serbia had the best economy in Europe. Don't forget the fact that Serbia at this current point is worse than most EU members economically. You should be thankful for someone like Tadic who has been trying to help out Serbia. I'm not sure if you're Serbian or not, if you are make sure you reconsider your vote and make it count. Get Serbia where it should be, the one with so much potential. Stop instigating... Stop fighting... Stop whining.

Serbia:

There is no bank transaction tax.
There is no SMS message tax.
The sales tax / VAT is 19% max. and not 27%
JAT still does exist.
The pensions people did have for years for their work were not stolen yet.
There is no international corporation penalizing tax.
There is no extra-invented bank penalizing tax.

There is a country next to Serbia where all that is reality ( except that local "JAT" equivalent used to be called "MALÉV").

Now Hruz and his orange comrades can book a MALÉV flight to Pristina or Moscow, their choice, just it takes a while to wait for the airplane to take off, better take a walk to your destination city, you arrive sooner.

Imagine that, a while ago I took a MALÉV flight to New York and it was better organized + better service than British Airways. Now that story sounds like from an other universe.

Tadic spoke a lot, but what he said needs to be translated in truth, and so I will play the role of Tadic’s real thoughts.

In an interview for the Belgrade-based tabloid Press, the leader of the DS Boris Tadic said he was convinced that Tomislav Nikolic was better suited to help Serbia join the European Union, and if Germany will insist on Kosovo, the Tomislav Nikolic’s policies would bring in new investments, jobs, and stability; whereas, my Policy is to ruin the Dinar and the Economy.

“The Serbian People are must not gamble with me, because they need to go to the polls on May 20 and give their Vote for a Balance in Serbia’s Political Landscape, because that will provide a peaceful and safe future,” said Tadic.

Commenting on Serb Progressive Party leader and presidential candidate Tomislav Nikolics accusations of ballot theft in the first round, Tadic said that when we knew months ago that we would loose the Elections, we planned and schemed to rig the Elections.

Tadic continued to say that Tomislav Nikolic will stop at nothing, even asking the Police and the Serbian Electoral Commission to explain the 20 bags of Stolen Votes, and so I will slander him as threatening confrontations and violence, because we want him to give up on justice, just like we want the Serbian People to give up on Justice.

If the OSCE, CeSID and observers from all parties, including the SNS, determine at every polling station that there were no irregularities, nut even People who have seen Magicians’ trick many Times cannot explain it, and so everything appeared normal, until the Prosecutor admitted that at least 20m bags of Voles have been stolen, but I know that it happened in all polling Booths, but I am keeping that a Secret.

The rest of his lies are not worth commenting on, nut People should know that when Tadic points an accusing finger at someone else, then there are three finger pointing back at him, and convicting him of his guilt.

For all the DS and EU hater here, remember that the clown prince of Serbian politics, Tomislav Nikolic, is also pro EU. The only difference is that Nikolic would be pro anything, just to get his tired old rear into the driver's seat of Serbian politics. God willing, that day will never come. I cannot think of a bigger embarrassment than to have this illiterate representing Serbia to the world. Can you imagine Obama, or Merkel, saying that I will pick a fight with anyone at a polling station that I suspect is cheating in the voting process? His time is so long past it's pathetic.

I have to disagree with sj, who i generally agree with a lot. The EU will no doubt be very different from the one today when we join, but what better example of maturity and loyalty is there than still sticking to our European perspective, Yes, they screwed it up, and the eurozone will suffer the consequences. But we are not Al- Qaeda. we shouldn't revel in their pain. We believe in forgiveness and looking ahead without bitterness. We will not be naive, but now is not the time for little Serbia to be giving these guys anymore things to worry about ( not that they do anyway). We are Europe, we are a force for good and we will stick to our principles come rain or shine. I cannot think of a bigger embarrassment than to have this illiterate representing Serbia to the world. Can you imagine Obama, or Merkel, saying that I will pick a fight with anyone at a polling station that I suspect is cheating in the voting process? His time is so long past it's pathetic.

Good point as usual Sj but i dont think "Danilo" or "Bganon" (what´s the difference?) will be very keen since they are too busy banging their Otpor™ heads against the concrete wall. Their point is to get in and get assimilated into the neo-liberal Borg-collective at any price,self-destruction for the "common good" you know, you can´t argue with that kind of kamikaze fanatics. If Serbia want to survive it has to get rid of these people in office and their 1800 NGO trojan horses.

Then you can't possible understand how badly Serbia is broken.
(Danilo, 15 May 2012 10:24)
It is part of my work to know how countries stand financially.

"You think Serbia, the worst economy in the region, except Kosovo"

Does your 'region' include the bosnian (M-C Federation) basket case, rescued twice from bankruptcy by the EU in recent times despite alost 1billion$ from Saudi Arabia and other funds???? Compared to its neighbors, save Slovenia and Croatia, Serbia is doing quite well. Lol Danilo's 'reality'.

You think Serbia, the worst economy in the region, except Kosovo
(Danilo, 14 May 2012 15:15)

In the same fantasy world Kostunica is living in, who recently used similar words about the unilateral implementation of the SAA by Serbia.

oh right. that fantasy where where Serbia occupies the centre of the universe.

(EU, 14 May 2012 20:46)

Read my previous statement, but lets look at the well off economies of the glorious EU. There is only one so far and that is Germany, the rest are basket cases to various degrees from Greece to France and all in between. If the situation goes bad and every indication points to that direction even Germany will end up the same. There is no more money to repeat the spending spree of 2008/2009 and this time countries will have to tough it out. But I still need someone explain in plain English what is so fantastic about joining the EU. Every time someone has tried it’s the usual BS of free trade and free movement of goods and people – straight out of the EU website. In fact joining means that the big boys will dump their subsided goods so cheaply that your farmers in Serbia, even being paid in dinars, will not be able to compete. That is what it means to join the EU.

I don’t live in Serbia nor am I eligible to vote as I was not born there, but here is some practical advise, regardless of whether you are in or out of the EU if Serbia wants a better standard of life then Serbs will have to work and work hard because joining the EU will not mean they will give them a goose that lays golden eggs. That is my point.

sj

pre 11 godina

did you even read my comment?

The answer to your question as to why joining the EU is good for Serbia is because this process will fix most of what needs fixing in Serbia.

That you don't understand what needs fixing in Serbia isn't my problem or concern, but it is a bit of a source of amusement.
(Danilo, 15 May 2012 12:48)

Ok. When the EU is incapable of fixing its own problems then please explain how will the EU fix Serbia’s problem?

I really am serious about hearing about the solutions to Serbia’s problems.
