How did Serbia's defeat help Europe? The Turks continued moving north until they were finally defeated at Vienna.

LOL, do you read a different set of words apart from what was actually written? When did I say that Serbia's defeat helped Europe? What I said was Serbia was one of the first European peoples fighting the Turks on the front lines for European civilization. And the fact that while our neighbors chose to cower (nothing new there) their way into Turkish preference, Serbs resisted until the Ottoman Empire fell.

Serbia, a proud European country has every responsibility to celebrate this day. It was in fact Serbia that was on the front lines defending Europe when the Ottoman Empire came to the Balkans bringing an entire new civilization to another continent.

While others in the region caved in and accepted a new way of life at the expense of a tax break and benefits, Serbs stayed true to their historic European identity.

What I don't get is why are there EU flags on this article when talking about Europe? The EU does not represent Europe. The EU are just some guys from Brussels they do not get to decide what is European. Kind of ironic that several businessmen from the Nazi era remained after ww2 and though had nothing to do with the war, did help fund the ones that did. Some like Walter Hallstein were ex-Nazi's who helped create the "European Union".
