O my it's terrible for Serbia ,Croatia makes over 8 Billion Euros in tourism and going up. What will become of Serbia sj it don't look good no matter which way you slice it.
(Lenard, 1 May 2012 20:49)

The article really should mention the effect that the weather had this year - nearly a month when nothing was working except snowplows and helicopters. The figures are bad, but they don't necessarily mean the end is at hand.

So far, countries of exYU did not get anything similar to the "Alternative Orange Economy" of Orbán - Matolcsy duo, at last who don't like can take the JAT or Croatian one-way flight out of the country. Try it with MALÉV. "Szárnyakat adunk vágyainak" = "We will give wings to your dreams", MALÉV - slogan. Yeah, they did it.

Correction: we're beginning to think about struggling with the national debt, someday. Soon, even. Maybe.

80 billion in tourism? No wonder you call XXXXX sugar Daddy..The global economy is gloomy. Do you know that we Americans are struggling with our huge national debt? We should send our Mr. Geithner over to learn how to make ends meet from you or simply demand ransom with our deadly tools, either way...

You are obviously gloating but do remember that if you want to compare, it should be apples with apples instead of apples with sour lemons ....

This article talked about Serbia's GDP, industrial output and foreign trade -- how are these the same as tourism??????? You should use Croatia's GDP, industrila output and foreign trade if you really want to make sense in your comparison.

While I can't find Croatia's Q1 2012 GDP figures online, there are sources that do not paint that rosy a picture from earlier data. For example, Croatia's annual GDP was reported to have fallen consecutively in 2009 and 2010. Moreover, while 2011's annual figure showed an upturn, its Q4 2011 figure was a -11.3% drop over Q3 2011's. http://www.datosmacro.com/en/gdp/croatia

So was your celebration more than premature, no matter how you "slice" (your own word) Croatian data?

No its not 8 billion, it’s 8 trillion. Take a pill mate and have a good lie down and you will feel much better. If Croatia was earning 8 billion on the basis of only 4.20 milion people you would be shouting it from the roof, but I suggest that you watch your HTV a tad more. It very informative.

Lenard, what the hell does Croatia have to do with this? You think we are jealous? We are not. Most of that money goes to foreigners. Plus, even if Croatia got all those eight million, it simply is not enough for Croatia, which is basically in extreme economic difficulties.

Amer is right in that the late January through February snow and severe cold paralysis will negatively skew the statistics - will have to see the 2nd quarter to get more correct results (un-skewed by exceptionally bad weather) and/or to see if Serbia is bouncing back or not.

When are people in Serbia and everywhere in YU realize that we have to throw out this rediculous deregulated, inneficient, unfair, unjust "free" market economy. The economy is not "free" when its owned by a couple of billionaires.

We need something along the lines of a social market economy. We need real free trade where everyone has a chance to sell their goods and not some stupid system where big CEO's get all the profit.A mixed economy,a revolution in our system and society.

We need to regulate finance and truly make commerce free by putting good regulations where they belong on the big corperations and less or almost none at all on the small businessman of woman. We need to have geater numbers of worker co-ops.These methods have always proven succesfull (companies in Germany, union cab drivers, john lewis etc)Where there is efficiency and democracy in the workplace.rebuild our industries, create new ones, focus on innovation and new technologies and above all good education for our young people.

What we need is a plan.

and step one is getting these corrupt pigs out of office, and if no one at the leadership levels will truly represent you.

Then you get yourself into office.
