think again: How be it if you 'think again'. The day will come when you'll agree that there was absolutely nothing 'democratic' about NATO bombing Serbia (including Kosovo) in 1999. How many Italian soldiers have succumbed to depleted uranium unleased by NATO on the region? How many of the local population likewise? Think again.

Of course in this situation Serbia was given a choice to be bombed or not be bombed. All they had to do was to cease their forces mission of violence against the civilians of Kosovo.

It has been proven several times that there was no Yugoslav government sponsored mission of violence against civilians (that doesnt mean civilians werent killed, merely that there was no official policy of it, as opposed to KLA policy).

Ron, you mention that 'China is not exactly a democracy'. Are there any 'exact democracies' in this world of ours? Certainly not USA-NATO countries that bombed a sovereign Serbia in 1999, using false pretexts. Nothing 'exactly' democratic about that.

I don't know if you were just wanting an opportunity to slam the west but your post makes no sense. What does the type of government a country have weigh in on the bombing of another country. I don't think in any of the huge varieties of democracies and definitions, you are going to find one that weighs in the views of an enemy in decisions of war.

Ron, do you really believe that human rights are totally respected in any country in the world? China is moving along quite well in that area, considering where it was just a couple of decades ago. I see an interesting phenomenon happening in the world today, though, the old democracies are turning more and more totalitarian, and the old dictatorships are becoming more democratic, interesting. In any case, I hope the historic and friendly relationship between China and Serbia continues in the future, and is of benefit to both nations.

Well, Serbia should also mention the human rights situation in China. China is not exactly a democracy.

On the other hand: China should support Serbia on Kosovo.
We all know: Kosovo is not a unique case. New states are fine, but only if there is a mutual ageed deal!
