I honestly don't know what I can possibly say to you. You are refuting data that is given by a non-governmental body, you refute Belgrade's own statistics regarding its own economy, yet, you give me no pointers as to which information mediums i should follow. well, believe what you want, but my points stand and are easy to verify.

as for your assertion that all that needs doing is to rid Kosova of the Albanians, well, how did that work out the last time Sloba tried it? there really is no need to to exchange views with raving mad nationalists, so I shall leave you with thise: Greetings from a Kosova that is run FREE totally FREE of Belgrade

first of: TI says something about the US, it just says Russia is a lot more corrupt. you really do not have to take my word for, read it up. if you disagree with them, do the following, go to Russia, carry out a research on corruption, compare to the West and make it public. do not complain and dismiss it just because it doesn't suit you. if you disagree and have reason to disagree, publish your own findings. no one is stopping you.
Have you ever been to the places mentioned in TI? And if you have how many? Corruption my friend comes in many forms not just what TI claims it to be. As I said before why doesn’t TI talk about corruption in the US or other places? Because it does not bite the hand that feeds it. You will found out that the best tactic is to attack and point the finger elsewhere to draw attention from your problems.
“second: i absolutely stand by what i said. there's a lot MORE freedom of the press and information and expression in the West (i.e. US, EU, Canada, Australia...) than there is in Russia or for that matter China. you disagree? again, do the following, go live in the paradise of China and Russia, try expressing dissent in written form, or more militant forms and see how far you'll go. “

How would you know what freedom is? Have you lived in China or Russia or Indonesia? You have no concept except what you are TOLD in the media. When they have to tell you that you have freedom then you are in trouble. I was born in Australia and my parents still live there and I can tell you that there is no such thing as freedom you talk about as it is a myth. When it becomes hard in the US and it will soon watch how your freedom disappears quickly. Try and express “militant behavior in the west and see how tolerate and free they turn out to be.
“Third of: pre bombs, Croatia was a RICHER Republic than Serbia. not my opinion, verifiable fact from Belgrades own statistics no less. it is also richer NOW. again, easily to see in ALL published economic data. disagree all you wish, it won't make it any less true. “
No it was not richer and never will be. A country that can stand on its own two feet needs manufacturing, resources, agriculture, cheap energy and tourism to survive. Croatia has only one of these. I should know because it is my business to know. Croatia was propped up just like Slovenia.
Published economic data you say, where is this data you talk about? Most is utter crap. Here is an example. The US economy pre GFC was 14 trillion now after the GFC and despite house prices plummeting unemployment skyrocketing today it is at 15 trillion. How is this possible? The Lord only knows how.
“Last: let me for a moment to accept your analysis. since Kosova comes with nearly 2 million Albanians, it will mean, whether you accept it or not, that Serbia (the one Serbia that is now caught in a big economic mire) will have to subsidize for those living there, because apparently, Kosova can't feed itself. you want to know the extraordinary thing however, 9/10 of those living in Kosova prefer this poverty to being under Belgrades domain again. so let that console you”
The answer is you get rid of the Albanians. Problem solved.

“Erm I do not know if you're familiar with Transparency International. It is a non-governmental organization that monitors and publicizes corporate and political corruption in international development. They put Russia as more corrupt than Kosova. If you think they're wrong, go to Russia, carry out your own research and publish it.”
I am very familiar with Transparency International as it is an oirganisation that lives off funds from the west. I do not trust any organization that takes money from government bodies and this one does. It is very funny that it complaines about Russia but has nothing to say about the system in the US such as military people retiring then getting jobs in the armaments industry or the fact that its congressmen and congresswomen in general receive money from corporations to do their bidding or for that matter that politicians enter politics with nothing but a few dollars in their pockets and when they retire they are millionaires. Please I am much older than you and have seen a few more things in life and I can say that I have even been involved in bribing some of your politicians although technically it would not be called that, but that is what it is.
“As for Western media, put it this, there s a lot MORE freedon of information in the West or in countries with Western Ideologies than ANYWHERE else, so give me those over Russian ones any time of the day.”
That my friend is what they yell at you every day, but in fact you have less and less freedom otherwise they would not have to repeat it over and over again. A society that actually has freedom does not have to talk about it.
“I did reply to comment but again tghey weren't published. Let me tell you in simple terms, I think you're totally wrong. For a start, you do not accept that Croatia has a BIIGER economy than Serbia's today. Again this is easily verifiable date. As for Kosova, if you actually come to think for a moment about what it is you're saying, you'd realize that if Kosova is as poor as you claim, Serbia will have to subsidize the lives of those Albanians living there from now to ad infinitum because they really aren't going anywhere. Now, is this what you wish for Serbia? Strange.”
Let me tell you again. Serbia’s economy was DESTROYED by the west in the 1990s so to compare it with Croatia or Macedonia or BiH is not a real comparison. In fact Botswana’s economy is bigger that Serbia’s at the moment. But as you see Croatia a powerhouse tell me what does it have apart from tourism? I am in the finance business and I can tell you that I have NEVER seen a country survive purely off tourism, but maybe there is a miracle out there I am not aware of. It called EU BS.
Now on Kosovo. It was and is a very poor place but it seems some of your countrymen think it has minerals or something of value. During the old Yugoslavia they would work two or three Saturdays per year and all the money woulfd go to help out Kosovo. The only value Kosovo has to the Serbs is its history otherwise they would let you have it lock stock and barrel.
I have just heard that Croatia has handed over the territory Slovenia was after – this is only the beginning boys and girls.

I have not once claimed or will claim that everything is good in Kosova. It isn't. Put it this way there, I lived there during Sloba and I live there now and I prefer this imperfection to what it was before. As to your question, well its pretty simple. Kosova is not really independent because we still need the nod from EULEX and predominantaly America. These two spheres, whilst not perfect by any means, are still open democracies where corruption in not as rapant as it is in Russia for example. So yes, things CAN change and ultimatley will change and they HAVE changed. For a start, you have more employment than you had 4 years ago, the corruption index has impproved on last year, wo examples of things getting better. is it perfect? of course not and its never going to be, but i repeat, give this to what it was before any time of the day

@ Nikolle:

it's interesting that to see that you are aware of how corrupt your govt is at the moment. I like how you said that it'll take time to be a good clean country and doesnt happen overnight.. but let me ask you this, IF Kosovo ends up somehow legally albanian and thats a big IF, then HOW can it ever be corrupt free and low crime levels when the foundation that this dream is built on IS corruption and IS murder?

Right now, your govt is very corrupt and evil.. Obviously you're going to argue that point because of your albanian heritage but it is a fact. That thachi or whatever his name is actually had charges filed against him for warcrimes (of course witnesses were killed so charges dropped) but in any NORMAL govt.. even to have such charges filed or less worse charges is enough to have them pulled from power.. yet this guy remains.

Im not saying every govt is clean because it's not.. but if we were to talk of the worst its yours.. and now this guy in charge of corruption is actually charged for corruption..

My opinion, in reality.. If Kosovo* actually legally becomes kosova or whatever you call it, then it could never be an improving country because it was actually built on innocent blood, corruption, drugs, and of course Robbery (the stealing of kosovo from the Serbs).

But i doubt it will ever be legally independant from Serbia. just my opinion.

I know clearly how screwed up my country is. Ask any of us. We won't lie to you. Ask an Albanian the same about their country and unless evidence is smacking them in the face, they'll tell you its the best place in the world. And even with that evidence, they'll probably play the "blame someone else" card too :)

-- Many misperceptions in your post but this one is one of the grossest one. You go to any forum where there are Serbs and Albanians and you will rarely see someone talk bad of their own group while the other side is still there. So what you write above is a symptom of the Serbs as well. Not being able to see it is just myopic. Just randomly pick a news story and read the comments. The culprits according to the Serb readers are always Albanians and their backwardness, USA, NATO, the West, occasionally the Croats. No blame whatsoever for Serbia. You read our comments and the same thing is repeated with Serbia and it's thirst for violence, Russia and occasionally Greece being the culprits.
Because the animosity between our ethnicities in most cases Serbs and Albanians are not going to place blame onto one of their own when the other side is still there. It's stupid but it's part of the herd mentality humans have. We as humans have this need to be accepted and in order to feel more accepted by our groups we as humans feel the need to bad mouth the rival group and praise our own when the rival groups and others are watching. By the way this is exactly what you were doing in your comments. Albanians are bad because of whatever reasons you say and Serbs are good because they are not bad like Albanians. After saying that someone in your ethnic group already felt the need to accept you publicly, and of course that makes you feel better

And who told you about the level of corruption in Russia? Oh please don’t tell me it the western media. Not the same people that said that Iraqi had WMD or was it the same media that told you of the how everything is fabulous in the US and the streets are paved in gold and the anti terrorism legislation is not aimed at the ordinary people but persons of evil intentions LOL.

I always love how you converts to the west yell the loudest and as soon as they point the finger and yell evil you attack like guard dogs and start frothing at the mouth over freedom and democracy.

I’m still waiting on your response about how Kosovo is going to survive as a separate state – where is the money coming from?

Actually Nikolle that's exactly the message we've been hearing for years. That all Kosovo needs is independence and democracy will flourish and the rule of law will be supreme. @ Nikolle:

it's interesting that to see that you are aware of how corrupt your govt is at the moment.

Oh Ari Gold, i do not know anyone who pretends that Kosova is the land of milk and honey. Nor do I know anyone who has ever thought that within 4 years, Kosova would be a beacon of democracy and transparency. Let me ask you this though, what is Serbia's excuse? according to Transparency International Serbia is ranked 86 in the world and you have nearly 200 years of statehood over Kosova to boast about. Allow me to ask another question, what is Russia's excuse? The Russia that some posters here look to for guidance. According to the same body, it is even more corrupt that Kosova. so yes in short, there's a lot of work to do, no doubt about it, but I remember Kosova under Belgrade, to go with corruption, you had state sponsored police terror and outright discrimination, so i prefer it as it is now (imperfect though it is and improving it definitely needs)

The Albanians are not happy that the Serbian People in the North exercised the Democratic Rights and their Human Rights by holding a Referendum that they, like any sensible and normal People, do not want to be governed by the Criminals in Pristina.

America and Germany are not happy that the People in North Kosovo want what these Evil Hypocrites say they stand for Freedom, Democratic, and German and American Values.

The problem is not the 4 years of 'independence', but the 100s of years of archaic clan structures which makes it very hard for Kosovo to ever become a democratic country with rule of law, transparency and without corruption and nepotism. When it's more important that you are a clan mate or cousin of Thaci (for example) to get a state job instead of choosing the most qualified person, you cannot expect any improvement. When those clan members think its legitimate to fake elections so that their own kingpin ca stay in power, you cannot establish a democratic state.

Nikolle

Comm. Parrisson

Seems to me, you have attempted to describe the Kosovar Albanians as a clan based society. Well, never mind attempted to, you have done that. whilst there is no doubt, that there is an element of that (now at the risk of upsetting Albanian contributors here, Drenica would be the best example of it), there are also signs of change. The corruption index has improved from last year for example. Nepotism, though still present, is not as prevalent as it was before. also, compare Kosova's unemployment numbers from say 2008 to today, you will see a fall, even if that was the only way to go. What i take issue with, is that you seem to believe that somehow Kosovar Albanians are more resistant to democracy and the respect for the rule of law. well i am sorry, but you have ZERO historical basis for making such a statement. for a start, Kosova is supervised by foreign backers and i should add, DEMOCRATIC foreign backers. not Russia (a state who's praises are sung here everyday, a state more corrupt than even Kosova), but the EU & US. so its not as if we have no superiors to answer to and learn from, they essentially are in place. so yes, Kosova does need a LOT of work, I have no idea who ever thought that by year 5 we'd be as rich as Japan and as corrupt free as New Zealand, but for a country that is still so young, to be less fraudulent than Russia is no small thing. so, what is their excuse and Serbia's, after all they have more experience than we do?

Albanians are still in the dark ages when it comes to running a country, actually, when have they ever done that, successfully, I mean? As you said, Comm., Albanians are a clan based society, where the clan head is God, and the rest just shut up and obey, or risk punishment. It is their societal way. You can give them (Albanians) all the independence you want, but they have no idea what to do with it. It they did, they would have eliminated the biggest mafia clan head, Thaci, long ago. But instead, they obey, and look the other way. It is the way of the clan with Albanians.

Actually Nikolle that's exactly the message we've been hearing for years. That all Kosovo needs is independence and democracy will flourish and the rule of law will be supreme. Albanians love to think of themselves as everything Serbs and other backward Balkanoids are not. We're constantly told Albanians are smart, mature, peaceloving, fair, and of course the biggest democrats in Europe blah blah blah. So when we constantly read stories like this, where the anti-corruption boss is arrested for corruption, or other stories on a weekly basis where the rule of law is violated by the very people that want to impose "law and order" on the Serbs, you'll have to understand the snort, guffah, and ROFLs because for all your self-gratifying accolades, you're at best just as screwed up and hypocritical as everyone else. A charge of corruption in Serbia would be followed by tons of "there you go, just as I thought" statements from your camp. When it actually involves your camp, suddenly we have to be objective, clear minded, and not jump to conclusions. I know clearly how screwed up my country is. Ask any of us. We won't lie to you.

@ Nikolle:

it's interesting that to see that you are aware of how corrupt your govt is at the moment.
