As I have repeated many times and before the Albanians wet their pants, what is stated to media and what is actually done are two very different things in this world.

In the past NATO/KFOR/EULEX/KLENEX have received those same orders and what happened? NOTHING at ALL. Its all propaganda boys and girls.

Business as usual with little to no interruption to the strangulation of Kosovo.
(sj, 5 April 2012 00:51)

thanks sj for your usual support to the Albanians in Kosovo who are happy with the business as usual of being independent from Serbia

“We do not view the alternative roads leading towards central Serbia as illegal. We believe that these are legal and free roads which our citizens have been using for all these years, and their closure would be an obstacle to the freedom of movement,” Ristić explained.

Well, Ristic should be aware that 1244 is still in force and what he thinks or does not think is irrelevant. What matters is what UNMIK thinks, and UNMIK regulations say that customs taxes have to be paid for goods destined to Kosovo and any roads that do not have the conditions for that are in violation of UNMIK regulations and hence illegal.
----------

“Serbs will not accept closing of roads, and this move reintroduces the risk of a strong protest which may include putting up barricades,” he said

He is welcome to put all barricades he wants to make difficult the freedom of movement of Kosovo Serbs from Kosovo to Serbia and vice versa if Kosovo Serbs are happy with that.

Well, there you have it. The illegal paths will be closed.
(Kenny, 4 April 2012 11:50)

LOL absolutely Kenny and other Albanian warriors of the diaspora: since last year attempts at controlling the Serbs of the north have failed. You blew it with ROSU, you failed to stop the barricades, you failed stop the flow of goods, you failed to stop the Russian ambassador from delivering aid, you failed to establish authority over a population that 99.74% rejected, but this time..THIS TIME with the announcement of closing alternative roads, the game is officially over, Greater Serbia is dead and Kosova stands absolutely triumphant and the world stands in awe of Pristina's power. Expect 100 recognitions in 48 hours, including Russia's. This time you've got it. The paths will be closed, no new ones will be opened because Serbs will finally have realized they've lost.

You keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel good :)

Seriously, what was Serbia thinking when they decided it would be a good idea to kidnap KPS police and parade them around with pictures and with men in camouflage with ski masks on? Im afraid Serbia has some of the most juvenile and unqualified people in positions of authority which is really scary to imagine. One cant help but believe that the closing of the roads is in response to the kidnapping. If this is true, who did the kidnapping benefit? It definitely wasn't the Serbs in Kosova. Serbs need to have a good look in the mirror and ask themselves what do they want and where do they want to be in the future. Right now, Serbian policy is in complete disarray regarding every major issue facing Serbia. Dont Serbs feel ashamed and humiliated when the people they consider to be the lowest form of life on this earth(Albanians) are doing much better then them? Serbs are so stuck with their stereotypes and racism that they do not even see every country around them is progressing more than Serbia. Wake up Serbia, the Serbian golden age ended hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Youre just a basic country like any other country. Theres nothing special about you. Start acting like the country that you are and not what you mistakenly believe you are.

Too funny, the soldiers are there it costs the same to have them on the borders as it does to have them lying around the barracks.
Everyday one of you come on here to give the proverbial warning the EU and NATO are not going to keep funding the operations in Kosovo. Maybe they have wised up and learned that maybe it is time to bring this mess to an end. Just wait for your day, today, tomorrow, the next day, 2015, 2025, then tell your kids to wait and their kids to wait and then one day a generation will come along and say "what was it we were waiting on"?

Since Dacic has made the official determination that the border is to be impermiable, I guess that NATO took that to mean both ways.

Dacic made a big blunder, since officially KFOR confirmed that Serb gendermary entered Kosova territory 150 meters inside and with their weapons pointed on two KP heads ,made them walk inside Serb territory and afterwards cuffed them and put them on the ground.

Of course NATO occupants CAN close the roads, just as they will have to continue to fly in by helicopter Albanian customs personel to the other open gates.
But who will pay for this in the end?
Specially considering that the border to FYROM, Montenegro and Albania is wide open for smuggling, the stop smuggling argument won't hold forever considering the enormous costs it brings to NATO and EU to try to stop the few remaing serbs in the north to have contact with central Serbia.

I guess there will be some tensions now, maybe the roads to the "official" gates will be cratered instead of barricaded, and then to the summer EU and NATO will realise or ask themselves, how much is it worth to them in money (everything is meausered in money in the end) to follow the will of the provincinal governement in Pristina?

Sorry Kalbos, NATO and EU won't pay for you forever, just look at Bosnia, it took them some 10-15 years but in the end they got tired, do you really belive that the same won't happen with you?

To local Serbs in northern Kosovo DO NOT WASTE positive energy and get on with your lives.

Recognition or non recognition of Kosovo independence is a political issue between Kosovo, Serbia and international communities. But the local "leaders" do not even recognise Serbia...because they want SLOBODA....

Somebody from the Serbian "leaders" in northern Kosovo suggested that closing the alternative roads would mean the "local Serbs living like in a cage". That is the "leaders" choice. If a "leader" goes mad why shoud "the crowd" follow them....? I am just asking....)))

PS. One million pound question. If you ask Albanians in Macedonia, Montenegro, Presevo, Bujanovc and Medvegja and Serbs in Bosnia Hercegovina under which state/country they want to live what would be the answer?......))))

Cheers!

The end is near for the northern Kosovo issue, with Tadic clearly turning his back due to EU ambitions firstly with the administrative line agreement, then the cancellation of elections and now the closure of the alternative roads, the reality now is impossible to ignore.. The situation on the ground for the northerners is hopeless! The same old pattern emerged northern kosovo as in krajina and Bosnia. I asked myself on many occasions as to why Serbs bothered giving up there sons and duaghters on the above mentioned territories where Serbs gained 0 benefits and lost in terms of economic progress and life.. Clearly if the Serb nation doesn't put it's foot down now in Kosovo, then all those lives lost were for absolutely nothing.. As primitive and weak as the Albanian cause was/is, at least they never gave or give up on there cause, no matter how hopeless or futile there situation is.. We can easily compare there odds against the Serbs as the serbs odds against western interference..

I had a conversation with an Albanian in 1997... He told me that the Albanians would get all of Kosovo and half of Macedonia.. He wasn't wrong and I'm sure the Macedonian prediction will eventuate one way or the other.. And think about how the Albanians were getting belted pre 99 hence the prediction was impossible to believe

What's clear is nothing will stop the Serbs in Kosovo now. This is primarily because the biggest threat to the blockade was the brutal winter season. I remember in October the Albanians on this site were saying it was impossible for the Serbs to survive the winter protesting the occupation of free Kosovo and they were wrong.

Now that its spring and summer is in a couple of months, do you honestly believe there wont be people out there daily defending the homes they live in.

NATO and the defeated and embarrassed ROSU unit, fly away. Especially ROSU, but they know better not to ever step into Mitrovica and be completely destroyed by the local population.....imagine what would happen if their government actually supported them.

Business as usual with little to no interruption to the strangulation of Kosovo.
