Im sure the fathers and mothers who lost thier children in this fire accept the condolences from all those whose condolences are geniune and from the heart. This is no time for patriot games. Zivela Serbia and the memories of those killed in this tragedy. Our natinalism is strong and has kept our Serbian nation alive for centuries-but that nationalism stops at the door of the club where this tragedy occured. There is a club in heavan for all the young people to dance in, there is no cover charge, there are no criteria, all is well where they are.

whether you are pro-Serbian , pro-Albanian , pro-westerm , pro-russian , pro-what ever it is you belive in , I think all people with a semblance of humanity will join together and offer their sympathies and condolences to the victims families and friends.

The fact that six young people in their prime have died in such circumstances is trully horrific and tragic.

I did not bring up Kosovo, Nicolle did. I simply said I don't buy her sympathy, because she is the most offensive anti-serb commentator here.

Sorry, Nikolle, I have read your sarcastic comments here on B92, and there really is no need for sarcasm, for quite a while now, on anything or anyone regarding Serbia - so I find your sympathy disingenuous. Yes, these unfortunate victims were very young, but they were Serbs, the same as me that feel that Albanians in Kosovo were given our land by the USA. In fact, Nikolle, the younger generation of Serbs may feel stronger about the theft in KiM, than the older ones.

what an unbelievably stupid comment. let's see, those people who died in this tragic accident have nothing to do with politics and should not be judged on Serbia's policies regarding Kosova. they are in their early 20's so were children when the war was at its height. i know to look at people as individuals, sadly it seem you don't know to. that is your failure, not mine

To the commenter who believes this the result of corruption and buying permits, I hope you're wrong. Yes, corruption exists in the permitting and building processes, however I would be hesitant to quickly point figures at the city fire officials who granted the permit. Serbia and Novi Sad are full of professionals who care deeply about their jobs and who want to serve the public correctly. 8 people lost their lives in a cafe fire in Novi Sad only a few years back, I would expect that this deeply troubled the fire department and inspector's office, and would thus make them much more unlikely for corruption. Nobody wanted to see a repeat of that.

I've seen a couple videos of this club and it looked like a pretty big operation - trapeze artists, lots of lights and electronics. They probably passed their inspections and then loaded up all the sockets running crazy lights, all next to something that could quickly catch fire, like a curtain. The authorities have rightly arrested the owners and will get to the bottom of this. Inspectors need to make sure this never happens again, and owners who play dangerously should know they're liable. Invariably, insurance companies will step into the gap and demand higher standards to guarantee coverage.

Like most things in this backward country, laws and regulations are not respected, permits can be purchased from corrupt inspectors, construction, electrical, and plumbing work are shoddy and seldom to code, and again inspectors look the other way for a handful of Euros. I place this entire tragedy in the lap of city officials of Novi Sad. It remains to be seen if these officials can correct these problems and clean up the municipal agencies, because they are the root of the problem. RIP victims, and my deepest condolences to the families. Hopefully, the tragic end to your young lives will not go without purpose.
