This is only the beginning. As life gets more difficult, and the UK is now a multi ethnic society, and the glue that holds it together – money – will start to weaken. To deal with these fractures laws such as this will be brought onto line and slowly but surely any semblance of freedom of speech will disappear.

The reason that I wrote "welcome to the 51st state" is derived from the fact that British politicians and Murdoch's press never miss the opportunity to brag about their " special relationship with the US).One can see how special is that relationship when a number of British citizens are extradited to US for alleged crimes they committed in UK.

These laws do show more stupidity than you would imagine. Currently one of the biggest headaches in the States are the incorrectnesses in the databases maintained by the three major credit bureau. I had my own share of funniest and stupidest mistakes they did.

That data is far less, it's just credit history, based on a single key called "Social Security Number".

If that is so difficult to maintain properly - how about the information in that article which is far bigger?
How about the holes and shortcomings of the (in)famous Schengen data base?

In other words... as bad as it looks on the paper, the costs will be prohobitive and near impossible to execute properly.

These guys are like some stupid Serbian or Hungarian politicians: it was told them one million times, Microsoft does not make computers, neither does Linus Thorwalds. But somehow they just can't get it.

"It is vital that police and security services are able to obtain communications data in certain circumstances to investigate serious crime and terrorism and to protect the public," a spokesman said.

"To protect the public". when what they really mean is to protect themselves. I think this latest curbs on liberties comes directly from the US senate.Remember the US senate passed bill S1867 that allows the US military to detain US citizens as terrorists and even send them to Guatanamo without trial.
