Greek police sweep illegal immigrants from streets

It's about time. Greece does not need excess immigrants in its failing economy.

Europe is overrun by illegals. Enough is enough. Financial crisis in many EU countries makes it impossible to absorb the 500 000 immagrants that come here every year. Send them back and force them to create a better life for themselves in their own countries instead of ruining ours.

Tom, I'm confident that some illegal albo orcs have run amuck in Greece as well, not just Serbia and Macedonia. Are you suggesting that Greeks should not control their borders like the US? Should not the Greeks then remove those illegals that are there ILLEGALLY from the country and deport them back to their place of origin? And you call that racism? I support any country trying to defend itself from illegal immigration, it's an invasion that places too much pressure socially and economically on host nation. It's unsustainable.

Isn't it interesting , why isn't there an illegal immigrant problem in Albanian for example? Modern day Mordor is no place for foreigners, let alone the indigenous residence.

Oh really? What do you advocate,free for all access?How about telling the truth about how many of these refugees are really not being persecuted but they are economic migrants?How about telling the truth about established Greek communities are being fractured because of the high level of crime as a result of immigration.Break-ins, robberies, muggings and murders have soared, with burglaries rising by 125% in the greater Athens region in 2011, according to Greek police.How about telling the truth about born and bred Greek people are struggling for jobs, housing,healthcare,education as it is without letting more people compete for it.

Being detained whilst their claims is investigated shouldn't be such a harsh experience.We cannot have thousands of people who we know nothing about wandering around the country. It is madness and many people are becoming increasingly pissed off about it.
That said, most people would rather have illegal immigrants detained instead of being allowed to disappear into the community before their claim is found to be bogus and they are removed.The problem is if they are not telling the truth, then there is no way we can send them back, not unless it cost the country a fortune in legal fees ,thanks to the human rights act.

This statement may was true 10-15 years ago,now all albanian emmigrants have papers and have been integrated in Greek society being as doctors, architects,bussinesmen etc.I forgot to mentioned that all greek sportsmen who got Olympic medals are from Albania.
It looks that most of serb cometators in B 92 still live in early 1990.Albania is prospering,is in white Schengen,has sign SAA and ALL 27 countries have approve it since 2009 and it just needs formal approval for candidate status to EU,because of childesh game between opposition and gonverment who postpone the status for 3 years.
Anyway,it looks that they are going to agree to vote those laws which require 3/5 that have been postponing the cadidate status for 3 years.
In the other words albanians are not in the situation thet they were in early 1990s.
Unlike Serbia when albanians got in white Schengen none of the left the coutry...

You forgot to mention that nearly 40% of inmates in Greek prisons are Albanians.There isn't a single week that Albanians are not involved in incidents with drugs,armed robberies,human trafficking and prostitution.Your claim that Greek athletes are Albanians is laughable and doesn't merit an answer.I always knew that Albanians have an inferiority complex but not to these extremes.

Yes there are greeks in Australia, America etc. But have you heard greeks to smuggle drugs, be involved in human trafficing, maffia etc? No, you haven't. There is a difference between immigrant who want to work and assimilate into the country and culture they have come to. Todays immigrants are largely islamists, drugsmugglers and other criminals. A quick goolge search can tell you that there are between 450,000-600,000 Albanians in Greece. This isn't 3/4 of a million aka 750,000.

Also the reference you gave me states that 40-42% of Greece's prison population are immigrants, which isn't "nearly 40% of inmates in Greek prisons are Albanians" as you previously stated. That is an artificial statistic which you created. Also that reference you gave me is a Blog. Hardly a reliable credible reference.

I know the UK doesn't have an ideal democracy, as well as declining civil liberties; but you have proved your ignorance once again. There is protesting against tuition fees, then there is breaking shop windows, attacking police vehicles, arson and breaking-and-entry. I happened to know Sabanis( Shabani).He was a friend of my friend.There is NO way he was greek.His perents were muslim albanians and he is from Elbasan heartland of Albania.
His real name was Luan Shabani.100% albanian muslim.
