So will Dacic, who sided with Nationalist thugs when they sought to threatend to burn Belgrade down in riots if 100 LGBT Serbians were permitted (as is their right under Serbian law) to protest in their national capitol, use this law to arrest the thuggish gang buddies of his police union?

If past is prologue, I fear that Dacic, will simply decide that expression of freedom of speech, petition, protest, assembly, association, and expression by LGBT Serbians in their national capitol is a threat to the Constitution of Serbia, yet those who seek to impose violations on minorities acting in full compliance with the Serbian Constitution will continue to be protected by Dacic and his forces.

October 2012 is coming. Dacic has now had 18 months to prepare to ensure that Serbian Gays can enjoy their constitutional rights without violence from thugs or repression from the police. Now apparently, he has a pretty sweeping law that can be used to detain those acting against the Serbian Constitution. If this is not just some instrument to abuse the Albanian minority, I ask this...Why is Obradovic still out on bail? He is defiant and insistent in formenting problems with the rights of Serbians. His theory is "we are waiting for you"....really, given his prior statements, his prior convictions, and his slogan, how would his actions not be considered contrary to the Serbian constitution?

What I take from this story, and I believe my English comprehension is good, is that these arrested Albanian fellows had existing warrants, for drug-dealing and espionage. It matters not what they had on them, or where they worked and lived, or whether it is political or not - they had active arrest warrants from Serbian authorities. BTW, this holds more water than arresting some folks for having supposed voting list. I'll tell you one thing, I would be scared as hell going into Albanian controlled Kosovo, with anything in my pocket but a picture of Mother Teresa - and I'm an American citizen.
(ecoman, 29 March 2012 18:42)
1st, if the arrest had been made without statements from Dacic it would have been a non issue, probably would not have even made it in the Albanian papers. It only became an issue when Dacic implied yesterday that the arrests were ONLY done in retaliation and implied even today that there will be more people arrested for no other reason than they are Albanian.
Would that have been the other way around and it was announced that there will be many more arrests of Serbs in Kosovo what would have been your reaction. You know and the world knows why this has become a major issue and it has absolutely nothing to do with whether these are actual criminals or not.
As far as being an American, I am sure it is how you present yourself in Kosovo that would make a difference as to how you are treated. If you walk down the stree and show nothing but disgust for the people surrounding you, I am sure you will not be greeted with flowers and hugs.
During the 3 years I was there I was treated with nothing but kindness, respect, and warm hospitality

He is desparate that he cannot do anything about his fellow collegues who are arrested in Kosova beside to arrest innocent albanians in return. There is no such thing as reciprocity arrest. Either you are a criminal and arrested or you are not. This what Dacic is doing is political and will not bring Serbia EU integration.

But the most important thing here is that Dacic is getting the message that his fellow collegues have no place in Kosova anymore and that is what hurts him the most.

Those 2 million Kosovars you refererence may as well be arrested because they are living in a prison like province of Serbia. These same Kosovars haven't yet joined the Schengen list and are unable to travel.

That’s your interpretation and symbolic way of deviating away from Dačić’s silly statement which no one can defend because they are irrational and politically motivated.
But to your response, to every Albanian (probably other non-minorities as well) this ‘prison’ that you mention that we are in is much much much better than the prison we were under Serbian rule.
Believe me when I say this to you, even if we are not in the white Schengen list of countries, or cannot travel freely to everywhere we might want to without a visa, I would rather take this than living under the state of Serbia even if a Serbian passport would’ve allowed me to travel to places without a visa. The benefits outweigh the risks; the pros are greater than the cons… In other words, what difference would it have made to me if I had a Serbian passport to travel freely when I, as an ethnic Albanian, would not have been free within Serbia!?!?

ecoman - from an American to an American as you know innocent till proven guilty is the best policy, the warrant for arrest was released in 2005 for espionage. Now we all know that this smells foul when you have warrant for arrest in 2005 for espionage towards K-Albanian living in Kosovo.

Ivica made a mistake yesterday saying that he will use reciprocity as a result of arrested Serbs. I think that all arrest is muscle flexing from both sides its election in Serbia and Thaci is looking to remove his attention from himself.

As for being afraid in Kosovo you should not any place outside of USA or Canada you will not feel more welcomed being American even if you have Montenegrian last name. Moving on....

Some important events that I'm looking forward to this annum:
0. May: Serbian parallel structures holding elections
1. June-July: EULEX reduction and restructuring
2. Dec: Transformation of Kosovo Security Forces or the creation of the army

Things to think about are the roles of the International Civilian Office (ICO) and the United Nations Mission (UNMIK) after July, they will probably (nearly) be dissolved as we witness the supervision portion of Kosovo's independence come to an end.

Nikolle, may I ask you an honest question? Is it in the Albanian nature to be sarcastic when responding to people you do not agree with? I was not certainly not bragging about my citizenship, why would I? As for these two Albanian fellows that were arrested by Serbian authorities, they had existing Serbian arrest warrants, and they were trying to cross a Serbian administrative line. Why is that political? What am I missing here? As for the invitation to Pristina, no thanks, Nikolle, even with an American passport, and a Montenegrin surname, I would not be comfortable there. I think any non-Albanian person from the Balkans feels the same.

It makes me sick to know that people dont agree with Dacic, and Kostunica for that matter. Forget their intent. You dont have to vote for them..but stand up and dont give away your ancestry. Dont put yourself in a position to take orders like these Albos do in Kosovo. Good job Dacic... and albos like @Demi..are u kidding me? Kosovo's special police force is a joke.

The trouble is that the entire Kosovo government and probably 90% of the Kosovo's population would be arrested and charged with some type of crime if Serbia had control of Kosovo. No brains required to know that the state of Serbia is in a state of undeclared war with Kosovo. There is no doubt in my mind that if there werent for the NATO troops, Serb tanks would be immediately rolling in Kosovo.

Thaqi you corrupt hungry bastard! Think sometime what would happen if NATO takes off. Tranining a bunch guys how to prevent fires is no match for the Serb Army. It is high noon that you wake up... you delusional bastard and start creating an army capable of protecting your people and dealing with Serbias appetite for your territory. It is good to have powerfull friends but even better to know that you can take care of your own at anytime.

Whether hes doing this for votes or not, he is making a stand, something no other Serb politician has done. How long can Serbian constitution be abused? This is what people mean when they ask, what is the cost of the EU? All u Serbs that dont agree.. are shallow, prob former communist thinking people. It makes me sick to know that people dont agree with Dacic, and Kostunica for that matter. Forget their intent. You dont have to vote for them..but stand up and dont give away your ancestry. Kosovo can not , and never will be able to defend itself. This is an issue that will take time to solve. Be patriots for once.have some shame..Serbs have conceded enough lives, territory, and unfair treatment. Become status neutral, and do business with who wants to. Dont put yourself in a position to take orders like these Albos do in Kosovo. Good job Dacic... and albos like @Demi..are u kidding me? Kosovo's special police force is a joke. I chuckle at your silly comments.. because there is something that can be done. and the table is being set im sure.

Those 2 million Kosovars you refererence may as well be arrested because they are living in a prison like province of Serbia. These same Kosovars haven't yet joined the Schengen list and are unable to travel.

Kosovo sure sounds and looks like a prison to me.

I think any non-Albanian person from the Balkans feels the same.

awww, do you everyone to know you're an American citizen? how sweet. those Serbs deserved to be arrest, however much you wish to dress it up. With regards to these two Albanians, its simple, arresting them for espionage and drugs, fine, however, why assert that its a reciprocal measure? why? that is like america saying to france we're going to arrest a french national if you arrest an american. stupid isn't it. p.s. come to Kosovo with a picture of whoever you wish, you won't get arrest, only if you break the law. take my advice, do not hold a picture of mother theresa, its just weird

By the way, Nikolle, I said the picture of Mother Teresa would be in my pocket, not holding it in my hand. I guess you just wanted to take a shot at me and be a bit sarcastic, instead of just engaging in honest dialogue with someone that does not share your views. OK, but with that approach, reconciliation may take a bit longer than necessary.

Why is it that every other month a belgrade official has to come out and publicly humiliate themselves? Do you guys take turns?

Serbs in this forum are offended when I call these so-called officials clowns. Just look at their behaviors and one might think belgrade is in some backwards clan in remote desert in Africa.

"'innocent albanians' LOL that's a good one. It's you albans who are frustrated and are being provocative like you always are. That's all you know how to do to provoke like cowards and then wait for the reaction. One day you will pay for all the terror.
Ratko"

An Albanian claiming to be innocent is provocation and an act of terror to Serbs?

To Serbs like you ALL Albanians are guilty of some crime and a good Albanian is a dead Albanian!

I don't care what motives were for arresting them, this are police matters.

What I really want to know minister is and you seem not to specify: What kind of drugs you found on them? Legal Or illegal substances? Do they have a name?

“anyone who endangers Serbia's constitutional order will be placed under arrest.”
Then why don’t you come and arrest ~2million people in Kosovo; after all our independence ‘endangers’ your constitution order right?! What a joke this guy is…

Unbelievable

One day he says the arrests were "reciprical arrests" the next day he is shocked at the reaction and says the arrests were not political????
Do you all still think you could even remotely handle the issues in Kosovo? It sounds to me that getting dressed in the morning has become a major issue for politicians in Belgrade.

@ Demi: There were WARRANTS out for those albos arrest for DRUGS & ESPIONAGE!!!!

During the 3 years I was there I was treated with nothing but kindness, respect, and warm hospitality

ecoman - from an American to an American as you know innocent till proven guilty is the best policy, the warrant for arrest was released in 2005 for espionage.

Trust me on this in Pristina or any place people have moved on ( just last month in Kosovo there were accusations towards Kurti that he was in a car with 2 Serbian girls driving from south of Kosovo).

By the way where in USA you live just curiosity .
