eng,
though you are certainly correct you must remember that much of that devastation in russia has much to do with its collapse and crumbling. much like the us city of flint mi, once a thriving town of heavy industry there is somewhere near 15% occupancy now. detroit has felt the same crunch.
not that us is any where near level of poverty that russia is, but russia has resources which us must go to war to acquire (sans canadian dirty oil).
us is a great country full of once potential. now it is a shadow of its former self, tied up in political struggles of empire instead of trying to be the best. they have long ago let off the accelerator and have been coasting on their accomplishments of the 50s and 60s. now the world has been catching up. the two industries left in the us, subsequently the ones saved by taxpayers free money bailouts are the financial (hardly an industry, but more of a sham scam) and the auto (which is tentatively holding on).
russia is not great.
us is crumbling
china is borderline horrible
uk is chocking on its own weight
and it is all greece's fault (according to some)

The day that Kosovo is recognized by Serbia, Romania, Greece, Cyprus, Spain and Slovakia as well as the remaining hudred and something countries at the UN, then and only then, Kosovo may attend the olympic games, or what ever they want, without a footnote next to its name. If Kosovo then why not Palestein, South Ossetia, Abkhazia or Kurdistan?

-- Sure, why not them. I have nothing against their participation. As a matter of fact add republica srpska and northern Cyprus even N. Kosova to that if you want.
Also, non-UN members have participated in the Olympics before.
Stop you xenophobia and your inat for a moment and it is clear that your opinion has nothing to do with the well being of sports, the Olympics, or the athletes but just blind xenophobic attitudes. As a matter of fact if Kosova or any of those places you mentioned participate in the Olympics your life won't change one bit.

Like many of the countries that did recognize Kosovo. Believe me they didn't recognize Kosovo because they wanted but because they west threatened with aid cuts if they didn't obay their masters. Luckily there are plenty of countries that are not dependent on hand outs from the, soon to be bankrupped, west. Democracy is the will of the people. Recognizing Kosovo is not the will of a majority of countries and yet the minority wants to outweigh the will of the majority.
(MikeC, 29 March 2012 19:04)

It can be said for many countries that have not and are under Russians influence did not recognize Kosovo, Vuk goes around the world to influence countries not to recognize Kosovo its ok doing his Job pushing his national intrest. Same for K-Albanins, EU, and rest that loby for Kosovo they think its in their interest to push for Kosovo.

This has been going on for a long time around the world not just in Balkans big powers push their interest and small ones suffer.

I keep hearing bankrupt West over and over in this forum by SJ, you, ... how come West is bankrupt:

1. Russia has bigest land mass out of any country but has Standart of living in par with Serbia and lower than Croatia both much smaller.
2. Last time I checked Serbia is in Europe not East near China some place.
3. Why don't you leave Bankrupt West and immigrate to Russia or China or Serbs when they wehre offered to go they did not accept ?

There are no prospects in Russia working for American Company as Expat in Europe covering Russia and being there 100s of times having friends I know the real situation in Russia and I tell you if you ever go outside Moscow or St Petersburg ( which is my favorite place in East Europe) you will be horrified it looks like abandoned wasteland.

Go to Russia if you have Serbian Passport you do not even need a visa!!!

gotta love eu's choice interpretation of international law. in nov 1990 ghwbush propopsed what eventually became the foreign appropriations law. within that law it stripped all foreign aid to then yugoslavia, and stipulated that any further aid will only be received when separate elections designed for independence were held.
sounds a little like calling local elections, which the eu says to be against international law. odd how this international law is and was so often forgotten by the eu.
just saying, with legal experts like they seem to have, what with all the forgetting and remembering of international laws, i wonder what box of muslix they received their legal documentation. just saying
and out of the blue unscr1244 is brought up, again as if it is somehow a binding legal document once again. just saying, with memory capacity like that they'll soon be needing teaching from sever alzheimer cases and let hilarity in education ensue. so so so forgetful are these great minds of great men that i, i, i can't even remember what i wanted to say, cause a mere pithy fool like myself should be able to out-mental-muscle these giants. just saying

Albanians seem to think that just because America and some EU states recognize Kosovo as independent then the rest of the world should follow along. Who made America and Europe the lords of the planet? They want the rest of the world to follow them like sheep without questioning anything they suggest or do. Unfortunately many countries are dependent on aid from western countries and therefore do as they are told. Like many of the countries that did recognize Kosovo. "...all of whom stressed that Serbia needs to normalize relations with Kosovo and intensify its reform and anti-corruption efforts. "

It's a pity that the EP does not see fit that this applies to the parts of Kosovo controlled by Pristina that still operates far outside the rule of law and nowhere near any european standard (make Bulgaria and Romania look like Switzerland).

Future albanian terrorists were out at Ronde Point Schuman (between the Berlaymont and the Council) on albanian flag day holding signs demanding one (greater) albanian. So sad.

"And also rejected the footnote for representation of Kosovo"
Flamur Jashari

How can they reject something they themselves suggested? Wasn't this footnote agreed upon by serbs and albanians? It just proves that what ever agreement serbs enter, with either the EU or the albanians, will never be respected. I have always said that neither albanians nor the hypocrits in Brussles can be trusted.

There goes Serbia, if the ruling DS buckles to the demands of this EU body? It is plain to see that the EU is attempting to re-shape Serbia, and its citizens, into the State the EU wants it to be, with little personal identity, and adhering to the principles and attitudes they set forward. Kosovo is a minor issue here, in the grand scope of things to come, but the EU will without a doubt one day ask Belgrade to totally abandon any interest in Kosovo. Personally, I would tell them where to stick it, but I have a feeling the DS EU train is full speed ahead, with little consideration of what they are giving up for the serbian people.
