Ok, the Serbian page today refers to an article in a French paper saying he's going to insist on going to the General Assembly because the Russians want to punish Lithuania. (Russia, as a permanent member of the SC is not eligible for the position itself.) And here I was thinking that he would follow the unwritten rule of allowing the regional group decide on a single candidate. So, NIS wasn't enough for Russia?

Good luck Jeremic, this will be a big plus for Serbia and its reputation...

Even though I am a rightwinger I think he is the Serbian Henry Kissinger!

If he's talking about the vote at the General Assembly, he has every reason to be confident. If he's the Eastern Europe candidate, it's almost impossible that he won't be elected. By acclamation. It's the group's turn this year, after all. The problem for him is to be named the candidate of the group. And that might be a problem for him. So far, Montenegro has said they will support him (although, whether this is in the regional voting, where it counts, or only in the General Assembly, where it's ritualistic, I'm not sure.) Of course MN promised (something or other) - they've trying to meet the EU requirements to start accession talks in June, and they don't need the Serbian parties poking a stick in the wheels at this point. Remember the hassle just before the candidacy decision and the official status (or not) of the Serbian language?

Poor Vuk, he jinxed his own country.
We all know the opposite of everything he says actually happens.
Just look at the countries that recognized Kosovo, only a couple of weeks or months after he proudly announced that they would never do so...
But hey, he can still kick out the ambassadors of those countries that didnt vote for Serbia.

Why is Jeremic trying to leave Serbia? Why not stay as a foreign minister for four more years and repeat the spectacular successes in foreign policy of the last four? Are they telling him to go or is he bored with the job? He did a fantastic job with the ICJ and with the fight against recognitions and with Ghana and with the reading aloud of Kosovo's footnote in every regional meeting. Serbia should not lose him.

We will see, right? Either he is right or he is wrong.

Odds are 99,99% he is once more wrong. But he can still expell some ambassadors in case they should vote against the mighty duck.

I would be surprised if he could fly. But we will see.

Jeremic stated: “Everybody can hear you from that positions, there is not a single door that
is not open to you and this would be an extremely good opportunity when it comes to promotion of Serbia’s state interests but also for the region,” the minister explained.

Vuk is announcing that he is planning to abuse the position of president of UNGA by using it to promote Serbia's state interests. Only a novice would make such a statement. Someone, preferably Hillary, should explain to him what the job description entails. All the more reason to vote against him. Also, who are these nations, he claims, respect Serbia. Does that mean other nations do not respect Serbia.

and this would be an extremely good opportunity when it comes to promotion of Serbia’s state interests but also for the region,” the minister explained.

Precisely for that, you will never become the President of UNGA. You are not elected to represent the interest of your country, just like the President of one country is not elected to represent the interest of his political party.

He stressed that Serbia in the previous years had to stand up to some very powerful countries in order to defend its territorial integrity but that those countries now respected Serbia.

They always respected Serbia, but now also respect the new country called Kosova.
