ecoman, don't you think it would be the opposite? I mean, better for the DS to have Seselj do a pre-election rally helping bring part of the olde Radical vote back from the New Radicals (SNS)??

His trial is over with the exception of a verdict. Why would they at this time issue a temporary release. Unless it would seem they would be leaning toward a not guilty verdict, I cannot see any reason such a request would even be considered at this point. Should he leave, we all know getting him to return for the verdict and sentencing would be almost impossible. At each scheduled appearance his Dr's would rule him too sick to travel. As a matter of fact, I would be willing to start a betting board on how many times the reading of the verdict is delayed with him there due to sudden declines in health.

Seselj turned himself in (to the Hague) on February 23, 2003, where his trial started in November 2007. Simply amazing, four years just to start a trial. In any case, where the hell would Seselj run to at this point in his life, Argentina? He is a zero flight risk to me, but he is a political risk to the DS, Western-backed government. If Mr. Seselj is granted a temporary release from the Hague, look for it to be after May 6th.
