That's the idea! With the recession still a concern and the dinar cheap, there's a good chance for a rise in tourism this year.

That helps the restaurant prices in Serbia (ex-Kosovo) and Makedonija.
The hotel and rental car prices are quoted in Euro, except the hotels where I do stay.
International ticket prices are pegged to Euro.
Gas is in the national currency but the price follows the path of Dollar.
Montenegro and Kosovo are not affected except the gas prices and Euro-Dollar exchange rate.

So essentially very few gains are in Yugo to enjoy from monetary point of view.
The fact that the locals are largely honest to the tourists is priceless.

I was cheated once 1980 in Prizren, twice 2009 in Belgrade and had two attempts by Macedonian border guards. The cases in PZ and BG were incorrect return of the change by purpose, Prizren was ethnically motivated, Belgrade "just" ethically motivated. Macedonians asked for 5 Euro bribe. For a 30 + year span and 15+ visits it's a pretty good statistics.

In some other area I was cheated and I am still being cheated by all kind of tricks, they never run out of ideas. You have to check every bill and even utility companies will try to cheat on their customers. Let the name of the country be the secret, except the first letter which is "H" in English. No, there is no country being called "Hkosovo" or "Halbania", so Albanians can rela this time. Hrussia and HUSA does not exist either. RU and US did fare somewhat worse than YU but nothing is close to what I see in H*****y, the second-worst is Ch**a, shame on both.

Sweetening the deal is smart - make people feel really good about their time on vacation (by offering something free - if seems friendly, even if they don't take the offer), and they'll have a favorable impression of the country for years. And maybe come back for the skiing.

And BTW - what's that circular blue sign on the right, about halfway down?
