Head of Serbia's Anti-Corruption Council passes away

Anti-Corruption Council President Verica Barać has died in Belgrade at the age of 57, after a long battle with a serious disease, it has been announced.

There goes the women who try to change Serbia and give us a better life..God is picking the wrong people for his garden.We will miss you …Serbia will miss you !!

Some of us had heard that she was ill but hoped that either rumours were not not true or that she could beat the illness.

And so we are left with one less person with integrity who wasn't afraid to both stand up and be counted and refused to be forced into line by any political party or tycoon. Some might now nod thinking the fact that she was ill made her even stronger in being able to resist threats or bribes from 'businessmen' and political parties. Perhaps.

Either way history will record Barac in a positive light and she provided a great example how to fight against corruption. Yes she could be abrasive and once or twice she went too far, but the vast majority of things she said / reports she produced were absolutely correct.

RIP Verica Barac. You will be missed.
