Really silly, too complicated and won't work.

And what next ?

There will always be some interest group that claims that their products should be free of VAT.

Proposal 1 . reimbursement of the VAT - within 6 months you must go to an office with your personal id and your childs id and receipts, you will get a voucher which will be redeemed at a postoffice, with a fee to be paid of course

Proposal 2 . VAT fund - within 6 months you must go to an office with your personal id and your childs id and receipts and statements of income from your bank, you MAY get a voucher which will be redeemed at a post office , with a fee to be paid of course

How about proposal 3? - Abolish VAT on baby products

Tell me again, why the "birth-rate in Serbia is severely decreasing"

And the trade margins idea...I am not too sure if this is a good idea....will it mean shops getting out of the baby business for something more profitable? I hope not

I have to say that this whole thing stinks like some kind of charade. Like the organisers and the government colluded. For the organisers a victory and a chance to praise the government for responsive democracy, for the government a chance before the elections to claim it respects the will of the people and encourages / supports families.

Of course whilst VAT might go down for some childrens products, it will very soon after the election be going up for ALL of us. And perhaps the lost revenue from this supposed VAT cut will be added to the rise in VAT for all of us.

To be honest this was tokenism at best and cynical at worst.

And now wait and see how the government is unable to bring this wonderful idea to live. You will have to register, pay the VAT, will have to collect the bills - which have to exceed a certain amount to be accepted- have to present them every 6 month with the packages of the original purchase and then to wait 6 months to get your money back. How I know? I f somebody want´s to make shure that only people with babies are buying Pampers or milk powder then I know how the wind blows. Don´t open the door to misusage. Millions of Serbes will run around in cheap diapers!
And forget about the trade margins.
