I am a recent convert to your excellent weekly. I guess being the son of a Serb who came to this country in 1945, Britic is aimed at the likes of me and my own family and I am determined that my English side knows everything it should AND FROM THE SERBIAN PERSPECTIVE.
I have to confess to knowing little of my heritage and this embarrases me immensley and so I turn to your readers for help. I want to immerse myself in everything Serbian. I see it as my duty to educate my family and so what do your readers consider as being the tools to do this.
I am looking at everything, cultural, educational and political.

I was asked by a Serbian family friend to make sure that the world knew that Serbs were not bad people. It was sad that this was said because I only know good Serbs. Nevertheless the western press seems to have a complete downer on Serbs.

I hope your readers can re-assure me that the PR drive to change attitudes is underway. Surely amongst us are people with influence because a channel like Channel4 can paint a fairer picture or am I just being an optimist.

Islam likes to reduce Christ to the level of a prophet - Christ represents much more than that. To call Christ a prophet is a deliberate insult. It is Mohammad who is just a mere prophet, and although Muslims like to use the phrase 'peace be on him' they are also embracing the incitement to violence that is contained in the Koran. Islam is based on a more ancient and primitive set of belief systems despite its claim to be the finalisation of faith. Christianity is based on Christ surpassing the ancient laws based on love and forgiveness - through his death he took the penalty for sin so that people can be free.

Islam is essentially a political force that justified unification of Arab tribes. However, it retains something of the violence and the dreams relevant to that culture. It represented a vast cultural improvement that had great positive effect on the Arab world.

Philosophically the message of Christianity is far more freeing of the mind however. One of the offshoots of that is Western liberalism - as with everything, there is both potential good and potential bad in liberalism. However, it is mankind's freedom to choose which is the joy of liberalism and it is single minded suppression that is the wrong that underlies all religions.

@ joseph marku ,as it seems joseph is albanian but a christian one, i can tell that from second name mark-U. he of course is one of our christian extremists, who first want's to destroy islam by atheism or communism or ilyrian paganism and then convert albanians to christianity otherwise albanian muslims would not accept direct conversion to christianity. this is a strategy of hidden albanian christian agenda.

BBC's broadcast of Jerry Springer: The Opera, which provoked angry protests from evangelical Christians because that satirical musical depicted Jesus as a petulant overgrown baby in a nappy, I put it to him that the BBC wouldn't dream of broadcasting something comparably satirical about the Prophet Muhammad

This is the problem we face every day when people talk but dont read. I am muslim and let me tell you that if I hear someone talk bad about Isa- Jesus (pbuh) i will be upset just as much as i would be for any other prophet, now its different issue what Christians and muslims believe Jesus (pbuh) was , but Kuran tells us about Jesus that was a Prophet and no muslim can talk bad about him so when people have to read so they understand the truth. The botom line here is that even us as muslims got offended by sarcastic coments as such in this article.

There is an issue with how we deal with Islam and Arabs. For western Europe I don't think it the threat of violence the main concern but the fact that we rely on oil from Saudi Arabia. It is the oil that i think make us close an eye when it comes to Islam.

Furthermore i think that Islam should be confronted in Bosnia. Also Albanians who generally seem to be not so religious should watch out as it is not in their interest to suddenly find themselves destabilized by a intolerant strain of Islam that comes from the Arabian peninsula. I think that we should hold on to our secularism inherited from the communist times.
