Hurry, EU, give Montenegro candidate status too. Since they are demonstrating to have European values, don't let them get away. Unbelievable, that this crap is still happening in the 21st century.

She found out, unfortunately the hard way that IT IS dangerous to critizise the ruling politicians in Montenegro.
Tzar Milo "get rich" Djukanovic probably laughed all his way to some shady Russians yacht in Tivat. "no more talk about cigarette business in media" was on his mind..

winston,

Who are you kidding, it happens quite frequently in Serbia, but do I hear you making even a peep about it. Double standards and a bit of envy for EU destined Montenegro, I suspect. Hypocrite!

The response to threatening violence should be a much harder clamp-down by the authorities. Search the homes of all suspected major criminals, increase surveillance to the point of total frustration for the criminal classes, increase policing at the borders and on the roads. Send in the tax officials and accountants to check for every penny. Lots that can be done to punish this kind of attack.

If the politicians don't react strongly against this - accuse them of complicity and harass them on all of their day-to-day activities.

really?

Didn't she just write a story on albanian which exposed them for their continued extremist criminal behavior as a rogue society, hell bent on conquering the Balkans under the blood red flag? you know the one, with a black crow in the center?

I hope she recovers fast. A cowardly attack.

I do say that journalists are always exposing things that 'some' do not want the public to be aware of, however sometimes they also twist the truth and cause a lot of problems.

Sometimes they can ruin peoples businesses and their livelihood.

Good and fair journalists should be able to write with freedom of speech about anything. Everything should be open and transparent, however they should curb the bad journalists and fine them severely for purposely twisting the truth.

This is a horrible reminder of why some journalists in Belgrade get round-the-clock police protection. Sadly for Olivera Lakic, her employer evidently hasn't afforded her the same security detail. I wish her a full and speedy recovery and hope that she'd be able to resume her very brave work -- with 24-hour security guards watching her back -- before long.

Obviously a very brave individual. Attacking a woman from behind with his fists. I suppose by Balkan standards she should be lucky he wasn't armed. Those who expose the wrongdoing of others and shine a light on their activities are always at risk. I know journalists are a much maligned breed, but they do bring to our attention the criminals who are a threat to everybody in the end.
