It is not only about Kosovo. Even you don't recognize them now (and Romania supports you) one solution will be found. Most likely Russians will sell you in UN Council in exchange for Abhazia or Osetia or better gas contracts for Gazprom.
With or without Kosovo, prepare yourselves for 8-9 years of difficult negociacions with EU.
Many reforms they will ask you will bring you benefits, like fight against corruption, administration reform, justice and human rights, economic legislation.
Be aware of their interest in buying, as cheap as possible, your gas and electricity distributions (natural monopols - safe incomes), hydroelectric plants, your banks, any mineral resources and strategic industries.
Delay as much as possible the right of foreigners to buy lands in Serbia.
Try to protect the best you can the local farmers and traditional activities.
Try to obtain shorter terms for your labor force to work free in EU.

All in all, never forget that you must accede in EU before Kosovo. It is the only way to secure a better protection for Kosovo Serbs and for historical/cultural/religious heritage you have there.
Be sure, Romania will support you with that.

Don't hesitate to ask Romanian assistance in your negociations. You can learn from our mistakes.

People of Serbia are not in charge to normalize relations between Belgrade and Priština because they don't know what our government promise to foreign force in order to reach membership in EU.
