The Serbs on this site are steaming with rage.

Serbs aren't the ones threatening to riot.

My free advice to Albin Kurti: Accept that Kosovo is not a state now. And try to get a mutual agreed deal. Like South Sudan and Slovakia. Then Kosovo can become a state.

Who expected anything else? For me, it's clear: When both the right wing extremists in Serbia (SRS) and in Kosovo (VETËVENDOSJE) unanimously oppose the agreement, it only says one thing: It must be a good compromise reached.

When you see the hardliners from both sides peeved, it is actually a good thing. Over to Kurti and the rest of the Self Determination goons to press the self destruct button.

Vetëvendosje (or Self-Determination) is neither radical, nor nationalist. This movement is only asking for a fundamental human right, that of Self-Determination (which ironically is a human right, according to the Charter of the United Nations).
(Fluid, 24 February 2012 22:45)

Is it asking for Self-Determination for KSerbs?

very shamefull for the albanins to exept that plan. they did ignore 150 years of war and masacres that serbs have donne on them. 14 000 lives lost in 1999 and now they are dealing with serbs. the road to europe does not go from beograde but from tirana and now kosovo will have to pay a hevy price. serbia has a fake history in kosovo, and allso have donne horrible acts. never say yes to this pact. serbia should fully rewritte history, apologise and be the next nation to say kosovo is independent contry but once more albanins have decived their own people! shame shame shame! just serbia win on this case! shame shame shame!

The funniest statement I found on another website:

"Kosovo's chief negotiator, Edita Tahiri, downplayed the significance of the footnote, describing it 'as a snowflake that will melt when the summer comes.' "

What does that woman wants to tell us? That Kosovo will violate the reached agreement soon?
(Comm. Parrisson, 24 February 2012 18:34)

I think she's giving ideas to the people attending the next meetings in the summer. You will have Kosova officials putting their bottles of water or their piles of paper by the asterix therefore blocking it from the views of the cameras. The Serbs will protest and walk out. In the end it is tragic that thousands of people were killed for an asterix. Not much has changed today except for Thaci and Tadic having guaranteed another term for themselves.

GIVE AN INCH..TAKE A MILE

pre 12 godina

Today was a huge win for the Serbian state and for the self preservation of Kosovo, its Southern Province. in my opinion..I am pissed we are dealing with the Albos period. However Tadic is not a complete moron.. he is keeping everyone happy. I think the EU realizes we will not recognize Kosovo..so is backing off a bit. It realizes that Serbia is and will remain the backbone of the Balkans. Bottom line. And yes.. the Kosovo flag will fly vs the Albanian one.. even more funny. Look at Republika Srpska..it has its own flag, but is just an entity..similar to what the Serb province of Kosovo will have. Definitely Serbia gave an inch..but to gain a mile. Let's be realistic.. the world knows Serbia could retake Kosovo..but thats not the mentality anymore (even though itd be great!). So getting into the EU, while not recognizing them..and preventing our Kosovo Representatives from using the word "republic" is huge.. it reiterates the SErbian stance..not the Albanian stance. Bottom line. Gave an inch...to receive a mile.. if Serbia gets into the EU, the harder it becomes for the province of Kosovo to do anything but sit back down, and re-negotiate. If Germany and the EU didnt believe that Serbia would not recognize Kosovo..they would put down a strict ultimatum, but they tried, and now are working around it. Definitely progress for Serbia..not as bad as it looks. Big Loss for the Albo stance.

Usually it's the Serbs saying that the agreement "is not ideal". Interesting to see Thaci say it now. It looks like the great powers are not as powerful as we thought. They have enough say to cause the sides to bend but not enough to make them break.

Comm. Parrisson,

Actually, the nationalist extremists in Kosovo are "Levizja per Bashkim" (The Unification Movement), that advocates unification with Albania. They do not have the support of the majority, at least not yet.
