"Let's throw some reality to this topic. Last time I checked there was no milk in Belgrade. B92 had a whole series of articles that ran for months."
(johny, 19 February 2012 03:19)

True, there has been a shortage of dairy products, but another piece of reality: Serbian exports in 2011: cereals ($0.732bn), vegetables ($0.658bn) (these are two of the top five categories of Serbian export goods).

For comparison: Kosovo has an estimated export of $0.5bn in total, with scrap metal being one of the top categories

I think I heard Tadic say If Serbia does not make it into the EU they will go with Russia. I also heard maybe a big military base from Russia could be built in Serbia.

FU, f-ing american politicians. Of all of the so-called "countries" coming out of the "Former Yugoslavia", Serbia is the only one that can feed itself. It is the only one that exports food.

-- Let's throw some reality to this topic. Last time I checked there was no milk in Belgrade. B92 had a whole series of articles that ran for months. I don't know about you but milk is pretty important. Don't kid yourself. If the Balkans was in another region of the world, Ethiopia would be centuries ahead of the Balkans, Serbia included. Consider yourself lucky we share a continent with countries such as France, England, Switzerland, Norway etc. If they stopped funneling money to the Balkans tomorrow, there would be no Serbia. Follow the money.

"The main goal Serbia has is to kick the US and NATO out of its occupied territory. As history repeats, that will certainly happen.
(Zoran, 18 February 2012 22:04)"

He didn't say "all" its goals can be achieved. Yesterday in Prishtina he signed a Status of Forces agreement with the government there - looks like the U.S. is planning on keeping its options open in Kosovo, even if Nato/KFor pulls out. Obama's foreign aid budget for next year has Kosovo as the 3rd largest recipient of aid (after the Ukraine and Georgia), so it doesn't look as though Kosovo's about to be abandoned any time soon.

What ticks off all of these american deadbeats (national debt = 15 trillion dollars and rising) is that the Serbs can live without the us of a-holes. That is why they keep shoving money up tadic's arse. To make Serbia as dependent as the usa.
(JohnBoy, 18 February 2012 21:59)

ahh yes - the intellectual level of serb hypernationalism at its finest.

Greece will be lucky if they end up that well off.

Serbia tried to kick out the Albanians and failed miserably, what makes you think they can kick out the US and NATO. your fantasies are child like.

This is why they're willing to give up 70% of what they're owed on Greek bonds, just to give Greece a chance to survive? Funny kind of domination, if you ask me.

Essentially, Serbia is bankrupt, except for European and US handouts it would be an economic basket case. Why do you think Serbia so desperately wants to join the EU.

Serbia will never ever become a member of EU.

And what will the US do,
when Serbias Neighbors,
members of Nato and EU,

What a ridiculous comment, Comm. Parrisson. There are countries in Europe that are not a part of the Union that are doing quite well. If Greece was not in the Union, it could manipulate its currency now, and deal with its deficits a lot easier and quicker. But maybe if it had never joined this economic club, it would not have gotten into its current mess. The Union is not what the Eurocrats make it out to be - have you been reading the news?

Yes, exactly two, namely Switzerland and Norway. But for their own reasons, and you don't really want to compare them to Greece, do you? Or do you mean 'other countries' like Albania, Moldova, or the ex-YU countries? Look at the map, there are not much other non-EU countries in Europe ;-)

"If Greece was not in the Union, it could manipulate its currency now, and deal with its deficits a lot easier and quicker."

If Greece wouldn't have the EURO currency, you mean. But I read here yesterday that all EU countries must have the EURO - I don't know where some people get their information from.

"But maybe if it had never joined this economic club, it would not have gotten into its current mess. "
I agree. As I said, Greece would have a living standard close to the one of its neighbor Albania, but wouldn't be (more or less) bankrupt. In a way you are right, maybe all the EU support made the Greeks lazy and inactive, so they didn't have to care for it's economy. On the other hand, Greece was bankrupt before once(or twice) before the EU even existed
