@Steve, I don't see anything you posted as hateful but factual.
Some Albanians obviously can't take criticism or accept facts therefore interpret it as hate.
Don't worry, it's their problem.

Pls say it ain't so!!!

@Steve

Steve says: you should read my posts again, I don't recall saying I hate Albanias or muslims Croats or anyone else. When did I say I hate??? Perhaps you should quote me.

Well let me summarize this for you, pls read between the lines.

Steve says: To my Albanian friends, enjoy it while you can. It wont last forever.

One can clearly read between the lines Steve; ‘It won’t last forever’ as you have stated, means that you’ll go back at what you’re “the best” at, commit more crimes and cleansings.

Steve says: Thank god there is no other nation on earth like the Albanians, what a chaotic world it would be if this was the case.

How shall we define this statement?! Hate!!! I sure think so.

Steve says: Most of the Albanians who live in the country in which I reside are all criminals and in jail!! They came from KOSOVO for petes sake.

Hmmm, does this primitive comment even deserve a response; neeeee….. coming from an “Angel”. And do us all a favor, get your English right before you post, most and all do not fit in the same sentence.

Steve says: I am a Serb and I am proud to be one.

And you should, just like I’m proud to be an Albanian. There are many good Serbs out there and yes, I did say it. My colleague happens to be a Serb and he’s one of the best guys I’ve ever met; you most certainly don’t fit that profile.

Steve says: Getting back to what started this conversation, what I said about Kosovo Albanians coming here and committing crimes and ending up behind bars is true, you speak as if all Albanians are angels, they are not and that was my point.

No one is claiming that we are angels, and boy Serbs are far from that. If they commit a crime I hope they rotten in jail, but generalizing things the way you do, is pathetic and so Serb like.

Steve says: I never said at anyime that Serbian soldiers didn't kill unlawfully did I, but again the truth of the matter is prosecutions for war crimes are all one sided.

How does that make any sense? One sided?!!! You came and killed, scorched, raped and you expect us to thank you for that?!!! Us Albanians tend to forgive but my “friend” we NEVER forget.

Steve says: I live in a city full of refugees from former YU, Croat, Bosnian, Serb and Albanian and all ran away from the madness, most of them are young people who lost everything. I see for myself and hear some harrowing stories. I helped a Bosnian Muslim woman who came up to me crying because she was hungry, she gave me a note written in English telling me who she was and her situation, when I started to speak to her in her own language she was kind of suprised. I gave her the help she needed and told her who I was, she didn't turn it down but was grateful. I was more that sad for this unfortunate person as I am for all those other Yugoslavs in the same predicament.

Good deed Steve, kudos to you. It’s interesting that you bring up a case where a Bosnian lady was the one that you helped. Does it matter where she’s from?! I give out money to people of any kind of race, religion, color in daily basis; you don’t see me bragging about it, now do you?!

Steve says: General McKenzie(Canadian) was a UN soldier in Bosnia and he knows who shelled the market in Sarajevo and he reported that to his superiors but they ignored him and the Serbs were blamed, look up the facts.

No, you do us a favor, you show us the facts!!!

Steve says: A war is coming, I am afraid for the people who want only to live in peace and raise their families regardless of their nationality or religion. I have two sons, one 15 years and one just turned 18 and I don't want them or you to go through any more madness. Things are happening on this world beyond our control and when I say war is coming it is not what I wish for anyone living. The people who want war are the ones who won't see the suffering it causes but they (the ones at the top) like the money it makes them from peoples suffering.

I wish you and your family the best, but do us all a favor and quit spewing hatred and making ignorant comments as its making you sound very primitive, and I’m sure you’re not. You sound like an intelligent individual, who is looking after his family and doing his best to make it in this crazy world. But if you think for a second that I, a parent of 2 will, allow individuals like you to repeat what you did in 1999, boy, you have another thing coming.

Just curious why you’re avoiding my question:

I posted on Feb 18th: But, one thing that we don’t seem to agree upon is that you and your compatriots that post here have never said one bad word about your own!! You make Serbs sound like they’re a nation of angels and you don’t understand why the world is against you!

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize what Serbian leadership and its army, police and numerous volunteers have done in Kosova, Bosnia, Croatia etc.
How come you never condemn those actions?! Every action is followed by a reaction and that’s why Serbia is in a position that it is today. People like you and others in Serbia (with many exceptions) brought this to yourselves, neither NATO nor Europe did.

Comment pls!

"I also said that I didn't say some Serb units never killed unlawfully, quote me on that. Oric attacked Serbian villages (civilians) from inside Srebrenica while under the protection of Dutch UN troops fact. There is no straight cut thing here, and no one is innocent and what I can tell you is that the US CIA were the instigators of the whole thing right from before the shooting started. I have been a soldier, not in the Yugoslav army so I know maybe a few things that you do not. The people in the Balkans were set up against each other for reasons that suite certain Western powers and one day they will realise that. "

I love this. Conspiracy theories to boot. The CIA were behind the whole thing were they? How so? Did they call on the Serbs of Krajina to rise up? No they didn't. America really can't win. If they interfere, they are getting involved in other countries matters. If they do nothing, they are accused of indifference. Its easy to blame America, it really is. Blame yourselves however, it was your country and you let it go tits up.

The USA care for no-one but the USA, you are naive if you do not understand that. Every place a war starts the USA and their allies are involved. They get rich on wars, their arms industry profits from it and then they jump in to get the rebuilding contracts for more profit, where the hell have you been hibernating these last 20 odd years and more?? The banking crisis and the fallout from that started in the USA and the City of London, FACT!!

Lastly, you very much underestimate the Chinese and the Russians, they are not the ones occupying other countries, the US are doing that or do you deny that also. They will push it too far and then the fireworks will really start. The west think that they are invincible, so did Hitler and the countries which joined him and we know how that ended.

You and those who think like you do not know me my friend, I hate no-one, but I will defend myself against any who slag me off verbally or otherwise. I will be friends with any who will be friends with me and I will go anyplace I am welcome, and by the same token I'll shoot back at anyone who shoots at me first make no mistake.

I see that my message is misunderstood here. I’m not a warlike Albanian, but a genuine Albanian that think that when our land is in danger the war is a fortune. We protect our land with our life. 500 thousand Albanian that dies for Kosova from 1844-1999 was like me and majority of Albanians. How more life of Albanians you pro Serb need to accept that Kosova is our land. Kosovo is Serbia is a simple colonialist lie.Kosova has a lot of Roman Churches, Serb Orthodox Churches, Ottoman Mosques, but has the majority of Albanian people. And if you don’t abuse with religious=ethnic equation the Albanian has been always the majority in Kosova. Kosova belong to its people. But if what I say is not true this is not important. The people that live today in Kosova are 90% Albanian. They have decided for independence and is difficult that we ignore this. Everybody that wants to change this reality has to go in war with Albanian people. Nobody can damn Albanian for this war. I wish peace and prosperity for all Balkan people, but the prosperity of others cannot come at the expenses of Albanians resources.

Pls say it ain't so!!!

@Steve

It’s a pleasure to read how you went from a war hungry, all around hating, Albanian virtual killing machine to such a logical and sensible individual within 2 days of your postings. That is a good sign and forums like this should be used to bring us together, not split us even further apart (not sure how much farther can it go!).

I agree that we are all being manipulated and played with and that there are individuals/groups that well deserve to be behind the bars. Here we agree, no two ways about it.

I also agree with your comment: ‘The people who want war are the ones who won't see the suffering it causes but they (the ones at the top) like the money it makes them from peoples suffering.’ You hit it right on the spot.

But, one thing that we don’t seem to agree upon is that you and your compatriots that post here have never said one bad word about your own!! You make Serbs sound like they’re a nation of angels and you don’t understand why the world is against you!

You even claim that Sarajevo market victims are done by muslims!!! Really??!!
Man, how much lower can you go?! Those rockets came from the mountains that were fully controlled by Serbs; the ignorance of an ‘Angel”!!!!

You said: ‘how many Russian and Chinese bases there are in other countries’.

Well, Russia and China can barely contain their own people let alone some other country. Two communist countries that abuse their own people and rule with an iron fist; I think that they have their hands full.

That’s what Serbs did for ages in Kosova and we all know the end result. So learn to deal with it; I know it’s a process but one day your cloudy head will clean up and you’ll smell the coffee.

Happy B-Day KOSOVA.

When people wake up and realise they are being manipulated by evil people at the top and being used as cannon fodder and sacrificial lambs to keep them in their luxury apartments and cigars and brandy etc.

I don't know you dori, I cannot hate a person I have never met and again I wish only the best for you. Stay safe.

I was more that sad for this unfortunate person as I am for all those other Yugoslavs in the same predicament. What I despise is the hatred and demonisation of he Serbian people by the West and western media, they did their job well. As I said it is all one sided and there are a lot of things your governments have hidden from you, attrocities committed by non Serbs and shown to the world as attrocities committed by the Serbs. These are facts and it's high time people opened their eyes and started to look around for facts from other sources. Even a Canadian General serving in Bosnia reported an attack on the Sarajevo market was not done by the Serbs but in fact by the Muslims to cause outrage, the general was ignored by Western governments. That's just one story there are many more. I don't hate anyone, but I'll be damned if I will keep quiet when folks say the Serbs are this that and the other.

The west could have done things differently and stopped the madness but that would not have been in their interests, they wanted the chaos and they still do. Look aound you in the world and see the truth before your eyes, who's attacking who and preparing for war, it certainly isn't the Russians or the Chinese occupying and attacking countries is it. Look on the internet and find out how many US bases there are worldwide with missiles everywhere, then tell me how many Russian and Chinese bases there are in other countries, you would not need more than one hand to do so. Wake up kiddo and smell the coffee.

Western war crimes have gone unpunished fact!! To this day US and other NATO troops are killing innocents on a daily basis and these numbers amount to many hundreds of thousands (maybe more) of people over the last decade plus.
(Steve Gligorijevic, 18 February 2012 14:50)

Let's say it's a billion to make you happy... and then what ?! It's not the number of the people killed that determines whether a war crime was committed or not. Sometimes you may committ a war crime by not killing anybody or genocide even by killing a single person.

To Steve and We Are Sooo Scared:

For you Steve I never said nor implied that EVERY single Albanian is angelic. Also I'm glad you admit that some Serbs have made "mistakes". For you We Are Sooo Scared it's not that I'm trying to criticize your comments it's just that when it comes to you suggesting to give toy tanks for Kosovar or Kosovar-Albanian kids that at least for their parents it might trigger memories of the '98-'99 Kosovo war or crises. In fact my brother-in -law dealt with Kosovar refugees that arrived or were sheltered in Gagetown,New Brunswick back in the 90s and he informed me that the "policy" regarding toys being donated to Kosovar-Albanian children is that you couldn't donate toy soldiers, toy models of tanks or any military vehicles because these toys could actually traumatize them because it could remind them of the Serb army. At least that's what my brother-in-law is claiming.

Steve Gligorijevic

pre 12 godina

Hello again resident of Canada.

You don't like the fact that you know I am right about certain Western leaders who are war criminals. There are also US and British troops who have committed war crimes and it has been proven and evidence has been seen, yet these people have not been brought to justice and they are not going to be because their leaders protect them from prosecution.

I never said at anyime that Serbian soldiers didn't kill unlawfully did I, but again the truth of the matter is prosecutions for war crimes are all one sided.

Western war crimes have gone unpunished fact!! To this day US and other NATO troops are killing innocents on a daily basis and these numbers amount to many hundreds of thousands (maybe more) of people over the last decade plus.

You know that I am speaking the truth. Anyone who has committed war crimes should face justice regardless of who they are and which side they were on, if this was to happen half the western world leaders would be in the hague right now. Thaci is also a war criminal but he is protected from prosecution by his US friends and the reason for this is they would have to put themselves on trial if they tried to prosecute him.

The war crimes tribunal is a joke. You know it as well as I do.

Getting back to what started this conversation, what I said about Kosovo Albanians coming here and committing crimes and ending up behind bars is true, you speak as if all Albanians are angels, they are not and that was my point. There are good and bad in every nation and it is the good ones I feel sorry for, because they are the ones who always suffer. NATO is not squeaky clean and neither are the leaders in the West.

I have no more to say on the matter.

There are a large number of US, British, Canadian and other European leaders that have cheated the War Crimes Tribunal and should be behind bars for their acts of aggresion and illegal wars, but lets speak the truth here shall we, the war crimes tribunal was created for the West and their so called justice to bring other leaders to trial as long as it didn't include any western leaders. Additionally since I'm under the impression that most Kosovars residing in Canada reside in Toronto so therefore I'm wondering even hoping that a few t.v. networks I receive from that city will feature Toronto area Kosovars celebrating independence on Toronto local news. For the U.S. I believe that most Kosovar nationals reside in New York City (perhaps many living in the Bronx section) and it's possible that Chicago too has a sizeable Kosovar community so therefore since my cable provider offers PIX 11/WPIX(CW affilate of New York) and WGN(not WGN America) which is the CW affiliate of Chicago I too wonder or hope if their local news will report on New York and or Chicago area Kosovar nationals celebrating independence.

roberto my brother, it's probably not a good idea to use this time to sell the only two articles you've managed to publish in your journalism career. albaniapress is a one-sided web portal and doesn't do much to encourage people thinking you're an objective individual. especially when you fail to report on all the hate crimes in kosovo/a committed by albanians against serbs.

i'm just looking out for you because i know you want attention and get upset when people don't acknowledge you for the person you want to be, but let's not make it all about you all the time

Like wow! It's now been 4 years since Kosovo declared independence so I say to pro-independence Kosovars a Happy 4th Anniversary.

So once again congratulations to pro-independence Kosovars and you should make the most of this special day wherever you reside.Best of luck!

To Residents of Kosovo/a,

Four years ago, your parliament took a step towards the basic, fundamental, inalienable right of Self-Determination - the principle in international law where nations have the right to freely choose their sovereignty and international political status with no external compulsion or external interference.

Indeed, it has been a long road, with many casualties, and thousands still missing. It is the sacrifices of each and every one of you that made this step possible. It is only a step in the long process of making Kosovo a stable, prosperous, and above all, self-sufficient nation, with rights and security for all of its citizens.

Do not forget where you were and what you went through from 1912 to 1999. Do not forget where you are, and what your civic duties are. Above all, never forget where you have to be!

Forgive, but do not forget! Hate does not bring prosperity.

A lot needs to be done, and all of you should be part of it - do your part!

It will take a little time (until the hatemongers in both sides "move on"), but Kosovo, along with other countries in the region will eventually overcome the old animosities and live in harmony!

All the best to everyone in the Balkans.

Yes, as we know from the news LIDL is about to enter Serbian market and Serbs think, that will mean cheaper prices for food - but it's not the case because like others, LIDL is adapting to the local situation, the Slovak LIDL is much better than the Romanian or Croatian one.

People like you and others in Serbia (with many exceptions) brought this to yourselves, not NATO nor Europe.

I gave her the help she needed and told her who I was, she didn't turn it down but was grateful. I was more that sad for this unfortunate person as I am for all those other Yugoslavs in the same predicament.

George W. Bush and his sidekick Blair and the rest who folloewd them into that illegal war against Iraq who caused hundreds if thousands of innocent deaths.

ROFL, good imitation - but one thing is not to joke about: the dramatically increased number of cancer all over the territory which was bombed in 99. That is what is spoken about by doctors in privacy.

As for Roberto - sometimes he bends the truth to say that politically correct way ;)
His hatred of Serbs came most likely from his relationships first, we can easily see the dates - and nothing can be done. If Serbia would elect K-Albanian president and declare itself to be the province of Kosova even than Roberto will find a reason to freak out about anti-Albanian evil Serbs and their masters from Moscow.

Yep, this "Kosova" stillbirth is another mess created by the West. Not only in the Balkans but all around the world the same partners in crime continue to cause instability, destruction, death and pain - all under the name of "democracy and prosperity". In fact, the complete opposite is happening.

Yes, as we know from the news LIDL is about to enter Serbian market and Serbs think, that will mean cheaper prices for food - but it's not the case because like others, LIDL is adapting to the local situation, the Slovak LIDL is much better than the Romanian or Croatian one.

Steve Gligorijevic

I live in a city full of refugees from former YU, Croat, Bosnian, Serb and Albanian and all ran away from the madness, most of them are young people who lost everything.

There are problems, social and economical however, it is much MUCH better than it was in 1999 or ANY OTHER TIME BEFORE THAT. yes there are obstacles to overcome, but no one has ever been under any illusion that within 4 years we'd build the next Japan. And now have fun building your toy tank army!(do not inhale the fumes of the glue and paint otherwise we can expect more of your "funny" comments)

Pls say it ain't so!!!

you should read my posts again, I don't recall saying I hate Albanias or muslims Croats or anyone else. When did I say I hate??? Perhaps you should quote me.

General McKenzie(Canadian) was a UN soldier in Bosnia and he knows who shelled the market in Sarajevo and he reported that to his superiors but they ignored him and the Serbs were blamed, look up the facts.

I also said that I didn't say some Serb units never killed unlawfully, quote me on that.

Happy anniversary Kosovo, and the cherry on top is Uganda's recognition bringing the number to 90; which 88 are from UN member states.

I don't recall saying that I want a war with anyone, the last thing I said was I wish you well and I meant it.

A war is coming, I am afraid for the people who want only to live in peace and raise their families regardless of their nationality or religion.

When people wake up and realise they are being manipulated by evil people at the top and being used as cannon fodder and sacrificial lambs to keep them in their luxury apartments and cigars and brandy etc.

I don't know you dori, I cannot hate a person I have never met and again I wish only the best for you. Stay safe.

To Steve Glogorijevic:

Judging by your surname are you Serb? Whether you're Serbian or not don't forget that there are Serbs locked away in the Hague detention unit. After reading your comments about Albanians be jailed I thought I bring it to your attention about the reality that there are Serbs who are behind bars.

Not only that I am very happy with text of this article(the truth), but the color of the map that caught my eye. Thank good that I did not see the usual map covered in blood.
Thanks b92. Thanks Uganda. As for Kosova's Independence Day is no need for to make any comments, since I know I am an Independent Kosovar citizen.

Pls say it ain't so!!!

@Steve

How are you guys even proud to celebrate this day? South Sudan became a "country" after you and they have a seat in the UN, how about Kosovo? hang your head in shame albos, you have achieved NOTHING!
(???, 17 February 2012 15:10)

Oh dear, Kosovo Albanians for sure would not want to go back and be like South Sudan which is recognized by a fraction of the countries which recognize Kosovo. Unfortunately for South Sudan, UN does not have the power to force countries to recognize other countries :)

"The Kosovo assembly on February 17, 2008 adopted the Declaration of Independence, which was annulled by the Serbian government the same night as an illegal bill of the provisional institutions in Priština"

Eureka !!!! B92 just solved all issues. The so-called Republic of Kosovo does not exist because it's based on a Declaration of Independence which has been annulled since 2008. So, what was the referendum about ?!

Pls say it ain't so!!!

@Steve

Congratulations to B92!
This is one of the best written articles on Kosovo and its independence. It's "status neutral", professional, right to the point. The professional journalism is in the making in the Balkans. B92 is a leader in the process for sure. A job well done....no wonder so many Albanians, including myself, use B92 as the main source of information about what's going on be it Kosovo, Serbia, and the Balkans.

Like wow! It's now been 4 years since Kosovo declared independence so I say to pro-independence Kosovars a Happy 4th Anniversary.

So once again congratulations to pro-independence Kosovars and you should make the most of this special day wherever you reside.Best of luck!
