I've been saying for a while now that "patriotic Serbs" basically hate Serbs.

I thought that the threshold was 5% and that the government was thinking about it and might change it after the election to 7%. Or is the threshold truly set at 7% for the coming election?

If the LDP and DS win the election one good thing will come of it. We patriotic Serbs can turn our backs on this new Serbia forever. We can watch from the distance as it is eaten alive, its terrirotry carved out its resources gutted by the West. Hundreds of nations have died over the centuries, and if the LDP and DS win, Serbia will go the way of the great Lombard Kingdom in northern Italy. So be it.

If the face of Modern Serbia is Tadic, Cedomir Jovanovic and the titoists of the socialist party, than Serbia has truly mutated into soemthing unrecognizable to us. Farewell Serbia and thanks Tadic, Jovanovic and Dacic for lifting a heavy burden off of our backs. And praise to greater Albania, take what you want, the modern day Serbs are not even a unified people and they have no core. They are just rotten fruits falling off the vine. Well be laughing as every surrounding nation takes its piece of flesh from Serbia. Well be lughing as institutions such as B-92 try to live hand in hand with the nationailsts of Albania and Bulgaria. We Serb patriots, well wash our hands of Serbia once and for all and laugh as it is carved into little pieces.

bganon,

I agree that the EU isn't a priority, and in my opinion it shouldn't happen at all, but what I'm getting at is that parties like the DS and LDP have made EU membership a priority, I havn't seen anything from them which have proposed other priorities. So my question is if the majority of Serbian people are against EU membership as shown by a recent servey, then why do they want to vote for parties that are clearly running on EU membership as a priority?

bganon

pre 12 godina

SCP it could also be that people in Serbia have begun to wise up and are not voting only on whether a party supports or is against EU membership. As I'm sure you would agree EU membership isn't the priority right now.

As for election rigging, you make it sound easy, but if there is any question of that I'm sure the likes of Vucic, Todorovic and Kostunica will complain.

What is really the problem is that you can't get your head around the idea that the current government could be re-elected with LDP. It could happen, right now I'd say it might be very slightly more likely than a SNS led block.

Why? The 'opposition' block is utterly fragmented. Seselj pulling one way, Kostunica pulling another with Nikolic trying to get them on board. You can bet your last pound that Seselj and Kostunica will ask for a very, very high price to pay for their support. After all DSS and SRS have less to lose, if SNS fails in this election they might calculate that support for SNS will collapse and supporters will return to SRS and DSS.

At the same time SNS still hasn't put forward a case for being a credible government, although perhaps they will manage to do this by the time of the election. But will it be enough?

"This poll is not to be trusted, if the election results turn out like this then there is no doubt of election rigging."

Yes, sure. Unlike in Russia and Kosovo, there has been no election rigging in Serbia (at least not in the last decade)

Just exactly as we suspected. What is not surprising however is the marganisaltion of the lunatic fringe, the Radicals and the decline of the DSS who's only hope now lies in a pre election coalition with the SNS. What is surprising however is the increase in support for the LDP. One suspects that its the result of a number of factors: the consolidation of the liberal and minority vote. The LDP will take votes away pro EU factions in the ruling DS-LSV bloc as well as from ethnic Hungarian, Croat and maybe even Bosniak and Albanian voters. This could well be where the protest vote could go this time.

With 3 months to go and alot to play for, I think it could very well be as you were. No change.

This poll is not to be trusted, if the election results turn out like this then there is no doubt of election rigging. Also, an opinion poll on EU membership recently polled well under 50% in terms of support, more in the region of 35%, so if thats the case then the majority of voters cannot want to vote for parties in favour of EU membership, there is something hugely wrong here.

Interesting. Radicials and Kostunica's DSS below threshold - exactly the two parties that are making the most illusionary and extremists proposals.

If this poll is to be believed it means that a DS-LDP-SPS government could be the next one.

However, I suspect the figures of 90% certain support for former current DS supporters is too high.
