You do have a point about not all parties being able to fit in to either of the blocks I mentioned, but with regards to the SNS I would have to disagree that they are nationalists. Those who formed that party are turncoats from the SRS who switched sides over night, and the fact that they support EU membership does little to separate them from the DS, and tarnishes any supposed nationalistic credentials. In my opinion their open criticism of Tadic is nothing but hunger for power, in reality they could work with Tadic but they are just stubborn. The SNS are the same rubbish as the DS in my opinion.

Well I will have to disagree with you there.

Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić both wanted to be leaders, hence why they formed then SNS (something we can probably agree on). They would never have been the real leaders of the SRS due to the situation of Šešelj.

But not only did they want to be leaders, they wanted to be in power. They wanted to sell their old SRS views in a popular way to the Serbian people/ masses. They have done this by dressing up their old SRS political views in a "family friendly"-"fit for TV" version. They think by being Serb-nationalist and pro-EU they can win over all of the Serb electorate. However we can't forget they were the men who ran the SRS after Šešelj went to the Hague. They are a bit like the BNP in the UK, a family friendly version of the National Front. The SNS are the most dangerous political party in Serbia due to their secret hidden political agenda. The only reason they say they're pro-EU is to win votes. They are Ultra-Nationalists at heart!

The SNS are power-thirsty (media friendly) SRS!

Don't you people understand whats being done to you? I know Serbs are a smart people but come on guys. You've been played a fool for a VERY long time and it looks like you will be "duped" yet again. Whenever there is any hint of an actual election LOSS by foreign funded & installed puppets, they create & fund more parties to confuse/divide the population. Its pretty simple, and its been an effective method of election rigging for a LONG LONG TIME. Its called DIVIDE & CONQUER.

If you really want change, the next time you go to the polls, FORGET about whatever ANY politician says. They will ALL tell you what you want to hear just to get your vote. Base you votes on what those same politicians have actually DONE. Actions speak louder than words.

This is absoutely ridiculous, this is the exact reason why politics in Serbia is an utter joke. Everybody wants to be the leader, yet they end up being leaders of pathetic little parties which get nowhere. To my mind the parties of Serbia should buck up and join into two blocks, one being a coalition under Tadic's 'For a European Serbia' foolish coalition, and the other being a nationalist coalition opposed to the EU and NATO, whilst putting aside pathetic and minor differences. Only then would there be more honesty in politics, and the true patriotism of Serbian people would triumph, the nationalist unity would be a strong enough force to reveal the truth of the pro-EU propaganda and their true traitorous intentions.
(SCP UK, 8 February 2012 14:16)

I agree with the first half of your comment; everyone does want to be the leader, hence why there are so many political parties and there are new ones being formed all the time. Also I agree there should be some mergers and blocks created.

But the part I disagree with you on is making Serbian politics into a two horse race. Then that'll make Serbian politics just as bad as US politics. And if there is a two horse race based on the blocks you proposed, does Serbia join and leave the EU depending on who is in power? Also which block does Tomislav Nikolić's SNS join? They're nationalist, yet they're pro-EU.

This is why there needs to be a variety in Serbian politics, perhaps 4-5 blocks/ groups (made up of lots of parties) who actually have a chance at making a difference in Serbia; instead of that clown Boris Tadić constantly being in power.
