"but I never read comments by Albanians where people show their understanding of Serbian plague in Kosovo which brought Milosevic to power."

oh yes..this again. you may want to read the statistics from Belgrade that show Serb population in Kosovo increasing from 1974 to 1989 (the period of autonomy). Belgrade's own statistics prove it. what did fall, was their make up of the total, which was down to the high Albanian birthrate. it's a myth, a complete myth that Serbs were in any sort of pressure. Kosovo's decisions were still under check from Belgrade. you now wish to talk about scales? check the number of murdered Albanians between 1989-1998 and Serbs between 1974 & 1989, you will be surprised. Belgrade's own statistics by the way

Serbia is the last country on the European continent where the Church enjoys de-facto political power, it has more influence even then the Vatican does on Italian politics. This influence in turn has resulted in disastrous political decisions being made, starting in Milosevic's time and continuing into the present, that have cost Serbia dearly and have alienated Orthodox Serbs from every other peoples living in that part of the word.
(Fred, 7 February 2012 22:14)

Although I believe in separation of church and state, if you think that the Vatican has lost it power and influence then you are very wrong because that is not so. Perhaps you recall the funeral of Pope John 2 and the two US presidents, current and past, which knelt before his coffin. This is what happens when a faithful servant dies, the master kneels before his subject as a sign of respect – it’s a very old custom.
The Vatican has its fingers in every pie, but western TV does not tell its viewers as its too busy pointing the finger at someone else. Why has the west kept the Catholic Church in tact considering the horrors it has condoned over the centuries with their priests sexually and physically abusing children – in their thousands not ten or twenty here or there, because it’s a good western tool. If you for a moment think it has no influence you are very wrong.
The only institution that has kept Serbs as a people was and is the Church. If they don’t support their own people who will?
Have a look at the Americans – look at how their Churches support what Washington does, not all but the vast majority while any opponents are portrayed as crackpots.
I have Serb blood but I also have other heritage and I can tell you that if the Serbs did not take up the gun there would be no Serbs or Serbia today. Milosevic was a politician and like most politicians they tend to look after their own nest first, but he was the smartest man in Europe and the US and even he knew what was at stake. Milosevic was a very capable man who could have run any multinational corporation on this planet. That is who you are talking about not some western jackass of a politician like Bill Clinton or George Bush who could not wipe the snot off their faces.
Ask how the average European feels about the Serbs and then ask how they feel about Americans and see who is disliked most.
The Serbs kept the very best parts of the old Yugoslavia while the rest is not worth a pile of dung. Look at how they all live well now that the EU has stopped pouring money into their treasuries to show the Serbs how well they all live in freedom and democracy. Ask the Slovenes or Croats or Bosniaks just how much industry has opened in those countries. Ask the Albanians how much industry it has since they are on the side of goodness and freedom.

As an Albanian religion means ZILCH to me, as does Jesus, as does Mohammed as does God. Sure, great texts and certainly wisdom to be found in the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, Tipitaka, Œruti, the Four Books and Five Classics and others. However, these are literary works and should in no way be taken to be absolute truths. They have great sagacity to them sure, so do Shakespeare, Tolsty, Dostiyevksi, Plato and many others. So yes, religion means nothing to me. Neither does being Albanian funnily enough. I do not label myself by my ethnicity as that does not define me as a person. However, I did grow up in a place where being an Albanian was deemed a problem for a certain group. They barred me from being educated in university buildings because of it and finally in the nadir of 1999, they tried to kick me out of own country because of it (though in this forum, my and other peoples experiences are denied as being flat out lies, propaganda and even schizophrenia).
So you see Peggy, the actions of your government, which funnily enough were not condemned by your own people or church, have contributed to making me a far more hard line person than I'd like to think I am. So in short Peggy, yes religion is totally irrelevant to me, because when the war was happening, you really did not care for the Catholic Albanians either and with whom in theory you share the same God.

Your church is a real joke as you are.
Stop telling us how you are Orthodox as if that means anything. We all know that for you Albanians, Albanianism is your religion. You keep repeating it often enough so yes, we get it.
I wonder if Islam means nothing to Muslim Albanians from Kosovo and they would rather embrace an Orthodox Albanian before a Muslim one.
You might be Orthodox on paper, but certainly not in spirit.

If you are an orthodox make sure you seek asylum in Italy and don’t go through Serbia or Greece when your brother Albanians kick you out and they will just give them time. They just need to adjust to Islamic fundamentalism.

In my opinion the only hatred that's being projected here is yours. Who on earth are you to assume that Serbia is 'hated by all her neighbours.' Are you an expert on Serbia's neighbours. And of course building a Berlin wall is very neighbourly, and has nothing to do with the past now does it. Serbia's President and government are about as far removed from the past as you can get. Kosovo's premier on the other hand is accused of war crimes and criminality on a grand scale. Any other leader in his position would be in prison. But as he happens to be America's stooge, he won't be going anywhere.

hey berk, why so quick to react, yet slow to think. the notion of religions not mixing with politics does not preclude the two from meeting and discussing whatever topics they wish. the notion stems from times when there were not 'politicians' per-se, a time when leaders of a church or religiously distinct persons were running the political framework of a nation. the notion of seperating church from state is not to remove the notion of religion (people's personal beliefs) from the humans that occupy political positions, but rather to remove the presense and power that religions can yeild on a political system.

however, while you're wallowing in a gutter of knee-jerk reactions, let us wonder how free of religion the us political system is. consider that with the us one of the longest running points of contention at the political level is specifically a religiously rooted issue: abortion. we can easily consider gay marriage issues to belong to the arena of religion. the politicans of america bring up these points of contention with their visible religious slant to the house of nation builders. the state still deals with religion.
i also wonder what you might say regarding the regular presidential breakfast. a prayer is said at this meeting that includes the president of the usa (the highest political figure in the nation).

berk, this is not anywhere near a case of religion interfering in politics, like you'd like to, and perhaps like others to believe.

If this site is any indication then Serbia as a nation has long away to go to reach its maturity. For as long as Serbia continues to deny its criminal past it will continue to remain in conflict with all its neighbors.

Just remember that you can not continue to exist in peace when you are hated by all your neighbors!

I understand ceremonial occasions are a rarity in your neck of the woods, so it's probably an event that you both find confusing. Put very simply it's an honour bestowed upon somebody you respect, who has endevoured to provide you with moral, political, and spiritual support. It's a grown up thing that civilised peoples share with one another. Again, it's more than likely something you weren't aware of. Given some time, perhaps a century or two, you may catch up and then you'll understand. Although frankly I have my doubts.

It's a grown up thing that civilised peoples share with one another. Again, it's more than likely something you weren't aware of. Given some time, perhaps a century or two, you may catch up and then you'll understand. Although frankly I have my doubts.

and be against Albanians.
What a shame show!
I am orthodox myself and I can not imagine my church to honour someone who hates turks, greeks, serbs, italians, croatians and other people...

Next time please write in english because this is does not make sense.

If you are an orthodox make sure you seek asylum in Italy and don’t go through Serbia or Greece when your brother Albanians kick you out and they will just give them time. They just need to adjust to Islamic fundamentalism.

i find it a total.joke that in serbia the church takes such an important role in politics... maybe the church should concentrate on what it supposed to... god and jesus

No, but you can imagine your church approving of someone who snatched organs from innocent people.

Peggy

I read comments by Serbs where people criticised Milosevic's politics toward KAlbanians, but I never read comments by Albanians where people show their understanding of Serbian plague in Kosovo which brought Milosevic to power.

It looks that the only merit to get the medal from Serbian Orthodox Church is to rant, hate and be against Albanians.

Where did Konuzin express his hatred toward Albanians? Give me a link please.
