2014? So NATO managed to stay only a few years longer in Afghanistan than the former Soviet Union with their 10 years of occupation. The results are similar, leaving an unstable state ruled by local warlords and drug criminals. I think nobody can call these two operations a success.
(Analyst, 2 February 2012 22:06)

Well, dear, NATO went there for Bin Laden and he is now reposing in peace at the bottom of the ocean. In the process, also it gave Afghans the opportunity to decide their future. If Afghans want their future to be ruled by local warlords and drug criminals, that's their business - Nato is not there to be the police force for the Afghans or to teach them how they should live.

never the least the 90's wasn't a proud decade for the Serbs but the Croatian side still showed there true colours.

=========================

I have already told them of Serbs being the ONLY people from former Yugoslavia allowed to march on ANZAC day but this is still not accepted by them.
The late Bruce Ruxton (former president of the Victorian RSL) was asked if Croatians will be allowed to march and he said "Croatians will never be allowed to march because they were on the side of bloody Hitler". These were his exact words spoken on TV. Croatians did try to stop Serbs from marching but did not succeed.
Now they call Serbs fascists? They have no shame. Lenard thinks that people don't know history. If they don't they are are reminded about it every year on ANZAC day.

Just in case he forgot here is a link to the march in Melbourne:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdWKrYyIlto&feature=g-upl&context=G24e0d2eAUAAAAAAAAAA

Here is a march in Sydney:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT-cUoZJ1rE&feature=related

Message to Lenard, there is NOTHING your Croatian brothers can do to stop the truth or Serbs getting the recognition they deserve and nothing your brothers can do to join in. Accept the truth that Croatians, Bosnian Muslims and Albanians were NAZIS the the whole world knows it.

If the Croatians leave Afghanistan it will be big loss for them. But we will do even a better job in keeping fascist "Srpska" aka Greater Serbia in check as the worlds police [link] .

Lenard, I live in Australia and theirs a day here we call ANZAC Day which is a very proud day for all , we have vetrans march from all over the world to celabrate the victories in the world wars and I tell me our friends the Serbs march side by side with the Aussie Diggers, so for you to say that the Serbs are fascist is a insult to everybody who died fighting the scum fascist like the croatian militery in the second world war, never the least the 90's wasn't a proud decade for the Serbs but the Croatian side still showed there true colours.

LOL good God Lenny. Even when an article has nothing to do with Croatia or Serbia, you have to shout something idiotic. Are you that desperate for attention that your nonsensical Croatian patriotism spills that neutotically into Serbophobia?

BTW if the Croatian army is as powerful as you think, why'd you run in the opposite direction when Vukovar was attacked?

Stop being mentally Lenarded.

How many more innocent lives will the NATO kill in Afghanistan, before the unwelcome organization you represent there is gone, Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen? Does your NATO keep track of the murders your planes, soldiers, drones, etc., have committed worldwide? I get sick to my stomach every time I hear the acronym NATO. You are the evil of the world of the last century, and the beginning of the current one. You justify your actions as humanitarian, and democratic - when in reality, you are just taking from the world what you want. With God's help, your day will end, soon.

It's mind blowing to think that there are still people like you, in the middle of Europe, from the country that gave the world the democracy, who hope for the Taliban to take power in Afghanistan.
And all this because you hate Albanians who seem to have the support of NATO.
Who are you? What are you?
I lived in Greece for over 5 years and I have seen some quite bad apples there but nothing like you.
(miri, 2 February 2012 20:56)

You should feel sorry for people like yourself who are of the opinion that Nato is benevolent organisation instead of cold-blood murderers they are.Where was your comment when more then 1 million Iraqis were slaughtered by Us and its allies? Where were you when more than 100000 Afganis were murdered by Nato and US forces? Where were you when more than 70000 Libyans were bombed into extinction by Nato? The world is where it's today because of idiotic posters like yourself who cannot distinguish between right and wrong.

I am sure that all the bad apples you've seen in Greece were Greeks that is human traffickers, pimps, robbers, drug pushers etc.You probably haven't seen reports by the Greek ministry of interior which clearly show that nearly 40% of all prison inmates are Albanians.

If Rasmussen was well acquainted with history he would’ve known that Afghanistan isn't called 'the graveyard of empires' for a joke.He also intentionally omits the recent NATO report (I would call it a statement of inconvenient truth) on Afganistan which concludes that Karzai isn’t going to survive long without the support of Nato and US mercenaries and the Taliban will form the next government. If he persists with his role he will definitely end up hanging from a tree like Najibullah before him.

The US and Nato’s legacy is thousands of lives and trillions of dollars lost in the last ten years for nothing. They leave behind a country bombed into Middle Age and a civil war which will ensue when the Western forces leave.

So according to you the Afghani and Iraqi wars were both a waste eh? What a load of rubbish.

The alliance put an end to the Saddami regime, and the Taliban rule of Afghanistan. This same waste also hunted down the most wanted man on the planet and saw his removal (Usama). The dismantlement of Al'Qaeda's international power...I could go more if you want.

Stop harping on the negative aspects of the situation only.

As far as posters here go, NATO is certainly in a no-win situation! Withdraw sooner, and everyone will say that they retreated or lost, assuming all is not perfectly peaceful and rosy at that point. On the other hand, stay longer and everyone will say that they are imperialist occupying forces. The whole idea of international military intervention is to bring the situation to a controllable status where democracy has a chance, and then to hand it over to the local forces. Nobody wishes to be in Iraq or Afghanistan (or Kosovo) forever. In the case of Kosovo, however, things are quite quiet, compared to 10 years ago, at least, but NATO must remain to keep Serbia at bay.
