So how else can Kosovo be represented than asymmetrically?
(Comm. Parrisson, 1 February 2012 18:41)

Very simple; in accordance with its UDI which is in accordance with UNSC Resolution 1244. I think everybody agrees to that.
----------

But Kenny, without Serbia at regional meetings, there is no meeting. Serbia is still the big boy in the Balkans, and not, as you put it "Republic of Kosova".
(Comm. Parrisson, 1 February 2012 18:41)

Dear, nobody is saying that Kosovo or whatever you want to call it, is the “big boy”. If Serbia considers itself as the “big boy” I’m afraid the other “boys” would not be very happy :) and will just further increase Serbia’s irrelevance.
----------

1244 is in force, always will be...
(1244, 2 February 2012 01:25)

Resolution 1244 is very much in effect, and only the UNSC can rescind it.
(PapaJohn, 1 February 2012 21:40)

I doubt the USNC will ever decide to rescind it as “1244” correctly stated. That’s because US, France and/or UK will veto it since Kosovo’s UDI is in accordance with 1244 and 1244 prevents the Serbian army from returning to Kosovo.
----------

“Kosova” is not UN member and it’s not independent
(PitBoss, 2 February 2012 01:06)

Sure LOL… Vatican is not a UN member and is very much independent. Switzerland was not a UN member until 2003 and was very much independent. Ukraine was a UN member since 1945 but it was not independent until 1990. Hopefully you now understand how much UN membership causes independence or lack thereof :)

What isolation are you talking about? Name one thing that Serbia is isolated from? Serbia belongs to every major organization in the region and the world. And in most cases holds rotating presidencies. As a UN member country. It’s just your wishful thanking. I think you are little confused. It’s “Kosova” that can’t join any regional or world organizations, or participate in most of them. Little hint for you, “Kosova” is not UN member and it’s not independent.
(PitBoss, 2 February 2012 01:06)
If Serbia belongs but does not participate that is moving into isolation. Belonging to an organization means nothing if you are staying home. Kosovo is brand new and moving, maybe not as fast as some would wish. To date Serbia has been very selective in its principles, if a meeting is low scale it will refuse to participate if Kosovo is there, but if it is important it sucks up the principles and goes anyway. If that ever changes then Serbia will become isolated.

Serbia has the potential to be the leader in the region. But the world does not start and stop in Belgrade. If Serbia chooses not to participate it moves further into isolation and its importance diminishes. There is no one elses future that hinges on Serbia but Serbia's.
It is not ideal but if necessary the EU will just absorb everything around Serbia and slowly choke it to death.

1244

pre 12 godina

If resolution 1244 is meaningless by some posters here (keep in mind you need the security council to decide what is an what is not void) then all UN documents are also meaningless. Further still, why the US and the West pushing for further UN Security Council resolutions on Syria for example? Why...because that is the only sytem which grants international recognition. 1244 is in force, always will be...or can albanians now to decide what is and what should always be when it comes to all rules of international rules and regulations? TOO bad those meaningless Russians and Chinese are on Serbia's side...you'd have all the UN resolutions drug money could buy.

Ever since Thaci returned from the meeting in Vienna about ending "supervision," Kosovo's position seems to have hardened - now they're even saying that "Republic" stays. And why not, if Serbia is talking about changing its constitution? Making concessions early (offering up "Republic" as a sacrifice) sure hasn't worked, why not "insist" - that favorite verb of Serbian diplomats - on what they have a right to as an independent country?

Kenny

pre 12 godina

Theres absolutly nothing that Prishtina can do anymore. They offered to get rid of "Republic". If Belgrade isnt okay with that, stop the dialogue, leave it as it is. Kosovo continues to take part as Republic of Kosovo in regional meetings while Serbia stays at home (the same goes for everyone else).

With the compromise Serbia would be able to sit behind its placard that says Republic of Serbia, while Kosovo would be sitting behind a placard that says Kosovo or Kosova.
Without the compromise regional leaders will continue the trend and Kosovo will sit behind a placard saying Kosovo and there will be an empty chair behind a placard saying Serbia.
This whole deal is not so Kosovo can attend meetings it is so Serbia can. Only those meetings organized by Serbia will be the ones that Kosovo will not be invited to attend. Serbia will have the option of attending or not.
This is one time that Kosovo has the opportunity to hold out because time is not of essence, but for Serbia it is.

How redicules again. Kosova has already moved and said said it is satisfied if it is represented as Kosovo instead of Republic Of Kovo, and Serbia is the one which insists on adding his territorial claim through UN resolution 1244. UN Resolution 1244 is a thing of the past, and the dream of a greater Serbia died in 1999. Thank God, otherwise Milosovic and his killers would still be able to do their awful thing. Serbia, not Kosovo has to be constructive, and face the reality of the Balkans, and has to start looking forwards, not back backwards. It is very simple, Serbia simply has to accept it, or forget its dream about Europe, and with it all the money and the support which kept it alive over the past 12 years.

“Kosova” is not UN member and it’s not independent

Sure LOL… Vatican is not a UN member and is very much independent. Switzerland was not a UN member until 2003 and was very much independent. Ukraine was a UN member since 1945 but it was not independent until 1990. Hopefully you now understand how much UN membership causes independence or lack thereof :)
