"The plan, however, was never adopted by the UN Security Council"

Sure, it was also not adopted by Zimbabwe. Why ? Because the Security Council in Resolution 1244 did not reserve for itself or Zimbabwe the determination of the final situation in Kosovo.

Glenn, dearest darling,

What is this obsession with Russia and war over Kosovo? Only the americans wanted to start WWIII over Kosovo, sic 1999 with russian paras at Slatina airbase where american General Wesley Clark ordersed british general Mike Jackson to fire upon the russian. Mike refuses and tells Wesley "I'm not fu9282g going to start world war three for you".

Of course no one wants an open conflict, Russia the least. But creating a vacuum by kicking your masters you de-facto write the invitation letter for the Russian army as a "peace keeper". All Russia needs is the opportunity and you just create it.
(Ataman, 2 February 2012 12:18)

Do you really think that Kosovo is "kicking (their) masters" by voting to end supervised independence? This whole thing is orchestrated, and the Kosovo assembly is merely doing their part. ISG is closing the ICO this year, Eulex is reducing staff by half by summer, leaving just an independent Kosovo, though still protected by NATO forces.

And why do some of you think the aid money is going away? Serbia receives tons of aid money from the EU and the USA.

Russia has the opportunity now, if they wish to go to war over Serbia, but Russia doesn't even care for their own people, let alone a Serbians located far away from Moscow. Coincidentally, For a number of years, there were russian peacekeepers in Kosovo; what difference did that make?

Why, those mere 5000 soldiers are holding russians back?
Very disappointing.

I can't wait till the "supervised independence" ends either. The sooner Albanians do it, the sooner we will see Russian tanks all over Kosovo. God bless them (the tanks, not the Albanians). So my feeling is: "just do it, please!"
(Ataman, 1 February 2012 22:41)

Is this before or after we see Algerian tanks all over Nania?

Face it, your wet dream isn't really going to happen.

Yes, the supervised independence of Kosovo should be ended. It should be ended by full reintegration this province into Serbia.

Adopt what ever resolution you want. but legally and historically Kosovo is still and will always be a Serbian Province.

UNSC resolution 1244 had guaranteed that. what ever this so called kosovo assembly adopt are null and void.

Serbs will be in Kosovo, avni, where they have been for centuries, waiting to take their land back, after the occupiers leave. Don't you worry. We will see what name Albanians will use at regional meetings then. How about SERBIA?

LOL! What does it change? Less funds now going to "Kosova"? Since there is no independence, there really is nothing to supervise. I suppose some people woke up and realised much needed funds are needed elsewhere instead of being flushed down the toilet. BTW, is NATO leaving? Is EULEX leaving? So what does it change Ian? Those K-Albanians in Pristina have a habit of shooting themselves in the foot.

"The plan, however, was never adopted by the UN Security Council, while both it and the unilateral declaration were rejected by Serbia." Actually Russia threatened to use veto like it is doing to keep in power Al Asad of Syria. It is a Russian problem to love dictators and dictatorships ie Gedaffi, Sadam Hussein, Slobodan Milosevic, Fidel Kastro....would you like some more? Sometime the hard way is the only way to deal with dictators....

demi,
in your rant against everything russian could you not see the american reflection? usa and uk killed upwards of 1 million iraqi civilians under freadulent claims of wmds. these people were murdered (as colateral damage) by your heros of freedom and civil liberties and democracy.
do you also think that usa or uk or germany actually care about their "friends"? usa and canada share the world's longest open border. two friendly nations, but whenever there is a chance usa and canada will duplitiously screw over their friend in their own favour. usa does not care about anyone other than usa. usa does not care about americans, but rather their personal vested interests and the maintenance of their illustrious positions. this sounds a whole lot like the russia you're describing.
overall the only difference between russia and usa is their ideologies on how to be the big dog in the park. neither of them care for actual law or fairness as they've both used and continually threatened vetos when something goes against their own interests. russia vetos actions against syria, usa vetos positive progressive actions for palestine. the both sell armaments to the world, proliferating war, death and destruction.

well our beloved Albanian immigrant in Europe - My comment is that the end of the so called supervised independence means also the end of any economic aid, and in turn complete bankruptcy of "Kosova project". what will follow, Allah knows....obviously all Albanian immigrants in KiM would be going to the West or back home - Turkey - to avoid the death through starvation?

''The plan, however, was never adopted by the UN Security Council, while both it and the unilateral declaration were rejected by Serbia.''

Who cares what Serbia rejects? And UN diden't adopt it only because of Russia threatning with it's veto. Russia also reject intervention in Syria where civilian people are being murdered by the state. They are being killed everyday and Russia is hindering the free world to act with it's veto power.

Russia do not help Serbia because of some kind of ''brotherhood''. Russia helps Serbia because of it's own secret fight/cold war against US and the western world. And to economically conquer Serbia. Some people in Serbia are naiv enough to belive that Russia gives a damna about some kind of ''brotherhood'' with Serbia.

Russia dosen't give a damn about it's own people. Less about the serbian people.

"The resolution was also supported by the opposition, with the exception of Albin Kurti's Self-Determination." That's not true at all. Vetevendosje also voted for the resolution, however initially they had proposed a new version to the resolution but in the end had to go with Thaci's version because they couldn't secure enough votes to support theirs. Check any source you want to confirm this.
