More than antisemitism, your comment reflects ignorance and inaccuracy - a total lack of understanding about who is a Jew, who defines themselves as a Jew, and what it means to be a Jew (let alone the differences between being being Jewish and being Israeli). Albright, Clark, and Cohen have lived their lives as Christians. Kouchner's mother was Christian (making him Christian). Holbrooke was raised atheist. If you want to hate them, find another reason to do so. But don't blame it on something they themselves don't - and can't - claim.

Now on practical side, after all "vér nem válik vízzé" (the blood won't become a water), so once a resident of Odessa or Dohány Street - always a resident of Odessa / Dohány Street :)

The time most of you are confronted with "us" in everyday life is if you need something regarding photo / video / computers. Well, that's the way of life. We, too, do need photo / video / computers once in a while, so what we do?

Of course, we look first at the shop. In United States it's really easy. We DO AVOID shops which close Friday noon and re-open Sunday morning. Guess, why. 99% of these shops are in SF area or New Jersey or Brooklyn. Avoid them like a plague because you will be cheated, no matter what. Even we are cheated if we shop there, I was countless times.

Exception: Adorama and B&H Photo. People at the B&H are actually Hassidim... but they have no-pressure and very honest. Yes, this is possible too and it pays off (tell the others who don't do that!). Adorama, too, is closed on Saturday but they are 100% perfect.

Currently Forint is very low against Euro / Dollar and the non-EU-citizen tax refund is a whopping 27%. That makes Hungary one of the best place to buy high-ticket items (for non-EU citizens, of course).
In Hungary the rule is about the same: find a honest shop. Some like "220 Volt" are honesty-challenged and refuse to fill out the green tax-free sheet. Others charge illegally for that (see before). Not that 500 HUF + tax is much (ca. 2 Euro) but it leaves you with precisely the same bad feeling as in some Brooklyn shop owned by Ephraim Goldberg where Ephraim steels cables and power supplies from the box and sells them separately for $29.99.

In Hungary we had pleasant experience with "Extreme Digital", "iPon Computer", "Euronics" - they do fill out the paperwork properly, mostly accept credit cards and after the tax refund you can get the good stuff even for less, than in the States, no kidding. And sometimes don't mind to bargain, even in a nice, upscale shop. I do it once in a while, after all Dohány Street is Dohány Street and Odessa is Odessa, I can't deny it :)

Intentionally I do not mention the not-so-good shops, the fact does a shop accept a credit card or not is in general a good hint in Hungary. iPon does not accept c/c but they are 100% fine.

In the States you can negotiate in every shop, like Fry's Electronics and so on. At worst nothing happens and a kosher flying pig will hit you. Big deal :)

The problems really do suck if the shopping / sales habits get "exported" to the whole life and politics and the dishonesty becomes habitual. That did happen in Hungary and now nearly everyone here became Ephraim Goldberg, even 100% Huns. I am very allergic to that Ephraim Goldberg thing, sorry.

If anything Serbs are the Palestinians of Europe, they have their land stolen from them by people who came from another country and are constantly picked on by the "West"(EU,USA)and bombed

And your list is still way too short.
(szemi, 1 February 2012 22:37)

But what is your explanation? Do not ask me, I just admit I have no idea. And I am pretty much an insider.
Maybe that being threatened did develop some quite agressive (to say the least) ways of doing business, like the victim becoming a perpetrator, who knows. Or maybe because the ways of doing business in Middle East were always pretty agressive and offensive, just visit a bazar and get the idea.

Your views do not explain the positive sides (see mathematicians, scientists and many exceptional people) - so not sure. According my (now late) mom the Jews tend to represent both the best and the worst of the host country. Or don't forget that the millieu of Odessa became part of the Russian and Ukrainian culture. Again, I have no idea about how to explain that phenomenon but it certainly does exist, the missing HUF 500 + ÁFA from today are the proof that what you say is very much real. It is very painful for me to see what we do see. As I say with Odessa-style humor: I really hate Jobbik, my biggest problem with them is that they are >50% right. :(

Our "friends" Holbrooke,Albright,Wesley Clark,William Cohen,Bill Kristol,Tom Lantos,Eliot Engel,Bernard Kouchner,Danny Cohn-Bendit were all Jewish!
They were the driving force who called in the early nienties for the bombing of Serbia when nobody else even thought about it!

Can we learn something from them?

Yes!

Are they our friends?

No!

PS: Look at Russia, all anti-Putin politicians and traitors who basically are calling for Russia to bend down and become someone elses colony are on the bankroll of the West (Berezovski,Chodorkovski,Nemtsov, kasparov) are all...You know what I mean!

I wish, I would have answer to your question. I just do not understand it and no idea, why is that. All I know is that Admiral Nakhimov was a Jew, too. So is the fiercely pro-Serb and anti-Albanian Julia Gorina

Maybe Roborto Frisco, *ssholeBroke, Not-so-Bright, Unwiseley and the rest are from some weirdo, special tribe and Julia Gorin, Nakhimov or me are from an other one. Heck knows... These tribes have pretty much nothing with each other. Not sure about the role of Moshe Pijade, Croatian ustashe and Albanian Balli Kombëtar deeply hate him - so he shold be probably a good man :)

Serbia has alot to learn & gain from Israel.
(AussieSerb, 1 February 2012 13:29)

Yes and it's one thing. Regardless that my family is largely a Holocaust survivor - there is something else, too.
Like I was scammed again and again - the last time today.

Went to buy some computer parts. A type (let's call him for his look Efraim Zsidrákovics) tells me, the obligatory free export paper costs 500 Forint + tax and if I don't like it I can go. Of course I like it since it saves me well over $100 - but the paper should be for free per law for the consumer and it costs only 280 Forint for the business and asking extra tax on it (what does not exist!) is an other offense.

The predatory business tactics are part of the life for Mr. Zsidrák Goldberg and similar villains and they are well part of the problem why Hungary sux horribly at this moment. And btw they feel with every government at home, be them Gyurcsány or Orbán... because they can twist themself in.

Again, we are Holocaust survivers with family names at least as good as of Nakhimov. But looking at these Dohány Street residents and some of the Israelis like Simon Peres who boosted that "Now we do own the enire Hungary" I am really puzzled: this is the way to make finaly the peace with Russians / Ukrainians / Poles / Hungarians / Serbs or not? Because it's a two-way street: we can complain about the pogroms (yes, they happened!) - but please we should NOT use predatory business practics and should clean up the Dohány Street first. There is a lot to fix on both sides and we should admit, there is a lot of garbage to clean up on our Dohány Street.

The things start with that little 500 Ft + tax export paper and ends with telling Simon Peres: "being a war hero does not mean, you can't be an idiot the same time"

Now of course who wants it may call me an antisemite, just do it, please ;)

We serbs genuinely have a natural sympathetic feeling for the Israelis, there is no doubt about it. We know', and we understand. For Serbs, this relationship must continue to be a strong and natural partnership. Serbia has alot to learn & gain from Israel.
