U.S. presidential hopeful promises "base on Moon"

Newt is a complete clown, and completely unethical to boot. He is a typical US establishment politician who is leading the US quickly into bankruptcy. He wants to bomb everyone, go to the moon, and at the same time reduce taxes, reduce capital gains tax to zero - I guess he's going to borrow more from China to pay for all this. The US is bankrupt, and guys like Newt are still in denial. But then again, the guy bankrolling his campaign is Sheldon Adelson, so Newt has to do whatever Sheldon tells him or it's lights out. It's funny how the US preaches about 'democracy' and 'freedom', when their political system is so corrupt it would make Al Capone blush.

Newt better ask the Albanians first. Because they were on the moon first and therefore belongs to them.

US better build that base on the moon, and send Newt there. We all going to be better down here.

Even if Newt Gingrich's thoughts are literally out of this world and for that matter sound neat to some isn't a fact that nations of the world reached an agreement that no nation(even including United States)can lay claim or personal ownership of the moon?

Even if the astronomical price of constructing a moon base isn't a major problem the problem would or could be the moon's temperature.In fact and according to this book I had since childhood titled 'The Big Book Of Amazing Facts' that the side of the moon facing the sun reaches 260 degrees Fahrenheit(warmer than any place on Earth)during the day and during the two week lunar night that the temperature drops to -280 degrees Fahrenheit which is colder than any place on Earth.

Other hazards to pose are that the moon features no atmosphere or surrounding layer of gases to filter out radiation,an additional problem can be the landing of meteoroids on the moon's surface.

A moon base would probably have to be 100% enclosed should it ever be constructed and finally the only reasons I don't see a point in developing a moon base if no nation can lay claim or ownership over the moon,it may very well be an extremely costly venture and if it's a danger to human life.
