You are right, as of today, UN1244 is still in power, and Kosovo's status is still not determined, no matter what the Serbian constitution says, and no matter what politicians in Pristina want to make people believe. As we could read in other news, even Tahiri realized this fact and agreed to the naming "Kosovo (without prejudice to the status)"
(Analyst, 24 January 2012 11:07)

Yes, to allow Serbia to participate in regional forums.

So far, Kosovo has had no issue participating. It was Serbia that was being all pissy due to Kosovo's presence and would not attend.

Kosovo is actually doing Serbia a favor by agreeing to talk about some asterisk next to its name.

Sometimes I wonder why Kosovo is continuously making these nice gestures.

It means just that Serbia does not have to renounce it and SErbia can refer to Kosovo any way they wish but they cannot require other countries to adopt their policy.

For Kosovo and some countries Kosovo's status is determined, for some other countries it is not.

And yes UNSC Resolution 1244 is still in force and Kosovo's UDI in accordance with it.

What is Kosovo force? Is it descendant of the KLA which couldn't keep Serbian police out of Kosovo? It cannot even send its members to northern Kosovo without KFOR help.

As of today, is an opinion of yours, which is not shared by 86 countries of the world, whose opinion actually matters more. Your opinion occupies space on a forum, theirs establishes diplomatic relations, enough to make an independence functional, and guarantees that Kosovo will never have to live under Serbian oppression again.

To all who are wondering how the Serbia constitution violated UNSCRES 1244, it is very simple.

The Security Council...

11. Decides that the main responsibilities of the international civil
presence will include

(a) Promoting the establishment, pending a final settlement, of substantial autonomy and self-government in Kosovo, taking full account of annex 2 and of the Rambouillet accords (S/1999/648);

My remark: Serbia refused to actively participate in the UNSC sponsored negotiations, and continued its "Kosovo is Serbia" rhetoric.

(e) Facilitating a political process designed to determine Kosovo’s future
status, taking into account the Rambouillet accords (S/1999/648);

My remark: Serbia refused to actively participate in the UNSC sponsored negotiations, and continued its "Kosovo is Serbia" rhetoric.
_______

After ensuring that the UNSC sponsored negotiations failed, Serbia hastily approved its constitution, and attempted to "impose" a solution on its own, although the foundation of 1244 was to find a solution based on the will of people of Kosovo. It's all downhill from here...

Actually I have to disagree with you on this one, Resolution 1244 did not go away with the Declaration of Independence. However, Resolution 1244 does not exactly mean what Serbia is projecting either.
But for the US diplomat to say that Serbia does not have to renounce 1244 did not mean that Kosovo would be bound to including it with its name in regional or international forums. It means just that Serbia does not have to renounce it and SErbia can refer to Kosovo any way they wish but they cannot require other countries to adopt their policy.

"Just a reminder, UNRES 1244 died on 8 November 2006. On this day, National Assembly of Serbia directly violated UNRES 1244 by approving the Serbian Constitution with its Kosovo preamble. As a result, from this day, Kosovo was no longer obliged to respect the above mentioned resolution. "
(Fluid, 23 January 2012 20:07)

Sorry, what should the violation of UN1244 be?

Serbian constitution, preamble: "Kosovo is an autonomous province of Serbia with significant autonomy".

vs.

UN1244, preamble: "...commitment of all Member States to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia" and authorised "an international civil presence in Kosovo in order to provide an interim administration for Kosovo under which the people of Kosovo can enjoy substantial autonomy within the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia"

"I hope the international community would keep its word, and I expect that (EU mediator in the Belgrade-Priština dialogue Robert) Cooper would come forward with a solution for Priština's presentation immediately, which would mean that Kosovo would be presented in regional forums with a name holder reading UNSC Resolution 1244 since Serbia was not required to renounce the document," Tadić said.

Mr. Tadić, Kosovo is not expected to accept the representation under UNSCRES 1244 either.

Just a reminder, UNRES 1244 died on 8 November 2006. On this day, National Assembly of Serbia directly violated UNRES 1244 by approving the Serbian Constitution with its Kosovo preamble. As a result, from this day, Kosovo was no longer obliged to respect the above mentioned resolution.

The move by the National Assembly of Serbia lead to Kosovo’s Independence Declaration of 17 February, 2008.

I welcome your optimism, but don't get your hopes up.
