Croatians vote in favor of joining EU

Turnout lower than expected. The "yes" vote higher than expected among the few voters. As I correctly predicted, a tepid "yes" for a fixed vote. Here's the unvarnished Truth: the EU is done and the "Kings" can't put Humpty Dumpty back together. It's just....math. So unless mighty Croatia can save the EU what was the point of another passenger on a sinking ship? Enjoy your loss of freedom without benefits, if such a trade was even worthy.

Ok people, own up. Who forgot to lock the door in the nuthouse this morning?

Not so long ago a group of countries broke away from a federation that was heavily biased one country.
Independence, freedom, choice, destiny, direction, etc etc etc .......
Many reasons, justifiable in most cases, drove them forward to achieve their dream.
Now, the very same countries are rushing headlong in their quest to join another Federation (that is probably much more subtle in its centralised policy making and more brutal); as if the worlds a scary place and they cannot survive on their own.
After 600 plus years of Occupation methinks independence is a daunting prospect and they feel much more comfortable within a union/empire

Most folk here in the UK have been asking themselves that very question since 1973!
It would be churlish of me to suggest that the we have not benefited in some (maybe many) ways. The question should be at what cost?

I'd say because Dalmatia is more nationalist than northern regions like Istria and Medjimurje. Dalmatia is the area where opposition to the extradition of General Gotovina, which many Croats see as enforced by the EU, has been the strongest. And while Gotovina hismelf urged Croatian citizens to vote for EU membership, many of those who view him as a hero, especially in Dalmatia, seem to think you can either support your 'national heroes' or support EU membership, not both.

It is pathetic only 30% eligible voters voted yes for joining the EU and its pathetic BS nonsense. Overwhelming majority of the eligible Croatian voters 70% didn't bother to vote or voted NO for EU and "our" self serving government financed one sided EU propaganda BS.

But this EU federation isn't filling relevant state positions in Croatia predominantly with Germans (since some people claim Germany is dominating the EU), unlike ex-YU. And the countries stay independent, though several fields are controlled/dictated by the EU. And of course countries can survive on their own, the question is: What is the (dis-)advantage for the people.

The better you off, the stronger is your "no" to that failing union simply because the biggest benefit is if you want to live, study and work abroad. Looks that Dalmatinci think "Lijepa naša domovino" and don't want to move abroad in great numbers.
