"He explained that the EU accession implied modernization of the state, public sector reforms, intensified economic development and attraction of foreign investments."

Is that so? Are Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria paradise today, with happy citizens collecting the gold coins from the trees growing outside their houses?

Modernization and reforms are not a goal in themselves but a way to make the state more efficient and adapted to the needs of the citizens.
I would rather like him to talk about the content of those reforms.
I don't understand either why Serbia would need to be member of this club for to reform and modernize herself.
Perhaps, he just doesn't know what he's talking about and needs someone to tell him what to do and what would be good for Serbia.

"intensified economic development "? I think he's talking about getting more loans, raising further Serbia's debt and filling up the pockets of ruling parties and corrupt politicians.

Talking about direct investments, I don't believe there will be much more Greenfield investment but rather selling the remaining "jewels of the crown" to Serbia's German, French, Italian ... "friends"

I think it would be more than time to open the discussion about the real benefits Serbia could expect by joining the EU. Is it really worth selling your mother for to join this club?
