"Even though they bankrolled them, people voted for them.

They wouldn't have voted (in 3 elections now) if their ideas didn't have some kind of traction with the people.

Maybe Serbs aren't like you imagine them to be from some chetnik club in Australia"

no they didn't.. YOu dont understand the climate.. in 2000 there was mass vote buying and intidimationa to make sure Milosevic lost.. All the public sectors jobs were lost due to NATO bombing and those people all vote for Milosevic. I know cause I lived through it..

and other two elections are a joke.. The entire media, people control voting ballots everything is owned by foreigners.. Plus the propaganda they run about serbia being isolated and bombed again if they didn't win and the talk about going to EU..

They have not lived up to any of their promises.. They never actually discuss any of the issues that trouble the people.

What's next.. Mubarack was democratilly elected?? ahahah.. plz

If there was a neutral media and a neutral climate and they won than ok I'll give them credit but there is none..

You cannot take the 2000- to present day elections seriously because Serbia is competely inflatrated by foreign intelligence agency.

"How do they explain Djindjic's party being in power the last 8 years"

is this some kind of joke??? Djindjic and his cronies were bankrolled by the US... That's public knowledge.. It's admitted that the Milosevic opposition is financed by abroad.. No one serious would even deny that. They bankrolled "Otpor".. geez I wonder why otpor isn't training activists today in Serbia.. tadic/Djindic/Costunica regimes have been moe corrupt than anything under Milosevic.. It's not even close..

So strange that you still have a lot of voices in the diaspora who seem to not believe that there was ANY people against Milosevic, just the big, bad west.

How do they explain Djindjic's party being in power the last 8 years. Big bad west? Unfortunately, for this to be true, it must also be true that the vast majority of Serbs are idiots in their eyes (precluding some kind of massive conspiracy, but how would you explain that? I guess they don't need to, CIA took care of it all)

He wasn't tossed out by his own people..

he was tossed out by gangs and right wing politicians like Djindjic who were bankrolled by the west..

They couldnt even convict him of anything.. One fake witness after one another, did you even watch the trial?

Ha! I almost spit out my food this morning when I read that. He was such a great guy that he led Serbia to failure in every war. He took "greater Serbia" plans and managed to make a "smaller Serbia". He ended up getting tossed out by his own people and died in a smelly jail cell defending himself against crimes against humanity!

USA, do you usually read comments before answering them? I wrote "It doesn't mean that I consider Milosevic a good politician".

There is no such thing a a "greater Serbia".. The bosnian serbs refused to seccede from Yugoslavia after the Bosnian muslims/craots did so illegally..

So many clueless..

Frankly I'm not surprised, Russia has been the save haven for Serbian war criminals for a long time and will continue to be one for a long time to come.

If Russia's already granted them asylum and given them citizenship it is foolish for the Serbian government to think Russia will retroactively prosecute the family due to this brand new deal. It seems this new deal was done mainly in the hopes it would get the Milosevic's prosecuted. Russia should instead look into political abuse and harassment of the Milosevic family and the libel and defamation against them.

the elections were rigged?? Lol.. By 2000 the CIA/MI6 had inflitrated the country so much and funded "otpor" movement there was no way to have a legit elections..

yeah they were rigged.. to make sure Milosevic would not win.

This time I agree - let Milosevic's relatives stay in Russia to avoid politisized justice. It doesn't mean that I consider Milosevic a great politician - he was good at tactics, but incompetent in strategy.
